Chapter 272: Get back here you pathetic insect!
Ouroboros cackled even louder. The poison lake surged creating mayhem. Everything in here was his to command. The entire area was his domain and it was clear that he held the advantage right now.
Elina continued attacking him with everything she had but the snake was completely overpowered. The poison fumes were slowly starting to get to her.
Ellora was in no better state. She blocked every single attack from the vicious monstrous creature but the poisonous atmosphere was wearing her out as well.
Kaelthorn did not even bother to stand and fight anymore. Before his energy completely ran out, he decided to get the hell out of there. He overcharged himself and burst with speed as he hurriedly used two of the crumbling rocks to make it back to the other side.
"Little lord, I hope to see you back on the outside." He smirked before he disappeared from the floor, quickly climbing back up the dungeon layers to get the hell out of here.
Ouroboros tried his best to stop him by lashing out at him but it was of no use. Kaelthorn’s skill level was simply superior. Perhaps if he had used that to actually put up a fight and worked as a team with Ellora, they wouldn’t be in this position in the first place.
Ouroboros screeched in rage at this. "COWARD!" the monster bellowed, his voice thick with venom and wrath. His tendrils lashed wildly, slamming into the walls and floor, sending chunks of corrupted stone flying. "You dare flee in the middle of my ascension?! I will find you and dissolve you even if you run to the ends of this world!"
But Kaelthorn was already long gone. The fury of Ouroboros turned blistering. His bloated form pulsed with erratic energy, the tumors along his spine throbbing violently, leaking more of that glowing sludge into the poison lake. The entire chamber shook.
While the mad hideous creature was still distracted, Damon made a decision and sent a message to Ellora. "Get out now."
Ellora stared at him in shock. "My lord, we cannot teleport in here. He will not let the both of us-"
"You don’t have to worry about me. I am only talking about you. Get out of here right now." Damon urged her once again.
Ellora froze. Her blood barrier flickered as her concentration wavered, but her eyes never left Damon’s. "But—" she tried again. "You’ll die if I leave you now. I can still fight. I can—"
"Ellora." Damon commanded this time. "Leave. Right now. This is an order."
The blood witch’s heart clenched. She looked around, the walls collapsing, Elina barely standing, the lake rising higher with every breath the monster took.
Ellora’s jaw trembled. For a moment, she looked like she might disobey. But then she bit her lip, hard enough to draw blood, and closed her eyes. Her hand moved in a sharp rune, faster than thought, and her form began to glow with a deep crimson light.
The next second her speed exploded and she became a streak of blood energy that shot forward through the narrow crevices of the exit which was now almost completely blocked.
Ouroboros snarled, his eyes narrowing. "Running again? Do all of you leeches lack spine?" He once again tried to grad her with his tendrils, lashing a cluster of them toward the streaking trail of blood magic, but they slashed through empty air, too slow by a fraction of a heartbeat.
The corridor echoed with a shriek of frustration as Ellora vanished into the crevice, her form slipping through the poisonous cracks just before they collapsed entirely.
At the same time, the snake’s form also disappeared as Damon dismissed Elina.
Ouroboros turned toward him, venom gleaming from his fangs and sacs. "You arrogant worm. You think you have a chance now that your little toys are gone? Why did you send them all away? They were nice little bodies I could have experimented with! What a waste!"
Damon bare legs lightly hissed against the sizzling stone as he stepped forward, completely unaffected by the toxic haze. The flames from Elina had long since dissipated, and Ellora’s blood barrier was gone, but Damon stood tall, unprotected, unbothered, and unmistakably... amused.
The huge monstrosity only now noticed it as its many eyes widened in shock and confusion. Ouroboros’s massive form twitched. His bloated tumors bubbled with anticipation and suspicion. "Why are my poisons not working? How are you able to stand? You should have already dissolved by now!" he growled, his voice a burbling gurgle of rot and malice.
Damon continued walking and when there was no more rock underneath him, a pair of bloodwings appeared on his back. The next second his speed exploded. Ouroboros hurried to block his path to the exit but once again to his shock, Damon’s figure was bolting in the other direction.
The creature wailed in anger as it started raining all sorts of attacks towards Damon but he erected one barrier after another blowing through his blood supply. Soon he reached the central area where the shrine was located.
Damon paused after taking a few steps onto the platform and looked back at Ouroboros. "Say, how about you try attacking me now?"
The creature let out a horrendous screech that ricocheted through the ruined chamber like a chorus of agony and bile. The sludge lake surged violently, pillars of poisonous muck erupting around the shrine, but they fell short, slamming into an invisible dome that shimmered faintly with ancient runes.
Ouroboros skidded to a halt at the shrine’s edge, tendrils flailing, his hulking frame writhing in outrage. "What have you done?! That platform belongs to me!" he bellowed.
"You cannot enter my temple and disgrace my god. This is blasphemy! Get back here you pathetic insect! Get back here right this second, you wretched blood-tick! You don’t even understand what you’re standing on!"
Ouroboros roared, his entire form shaking as he slammed against the invisible barrier. The sickly green sludge hissed and crackled on contact, but the ancient ward held firm, repelling him like an immune system rejecting a foreign body.
