This Zhao Family’s sister-in-law seems alright.
"You must be Yuanyuan, I saw you when I was digging the reservoir."
Su Yuanyuan awkwardly smiled, "Big sister-in-law, I hadn’t noticed before."
As they talked, Tan Shaoting started moving things inside.
He really didn’t mind these things; he knew Su Yuanyuan was thanking them for helping with the livestock.
If she wanted to give her pals some grain later, it was alright too.
"Why are you bringing so much grain?"
"You worked hard taking care of the family’s livestock. Besides, we only just got back yesterday. The grain at home hasn’t really been touched yet."
Right now, grain is the most precious. They’ve brought over more than ten big winter melons, along with potatoes and sweet potatoes. Even the most precious cornmeal is here.
Sun Yun mostly heard the name Su Yuanyuan; he had seen her before, just an ordinary little girl. But from this face-to-face conversation, he realized that she indeed was different.
"Brother Zhao, I need to drive the cart to the farm headquarters."
"Xiao Tan, the livestock at your place is being taken care of by my sister. You can go with our cart first."
"Alright."
"Sister-in-law Zhao, when will Xiao Li and the others come over?"
"They won’t come over if nothing’s going on. The road’s hard to travel and it’s too cold."
Tan Shaoting heard that too and looked back at Su Yuanyuan, "I’ll take you there."
Su Yuanyuan thought for a moment, "Alright, you can take me."
Sun Yun also heard about the two of them; usually, the kind of cohabitation happens when people have already settled down and are now on their own. But it seems like the two of them are forming their first relationships. However, their feelings seemed quite good.
The two of them arrived at Zhao Yanli’s place, which was pretty much the same. Just three to five miles apart, not too far. In fact, this place was very considerate.
The timing was good for the Zhao Family siblings as well; they happened to arrive when this family moved out, so it worked out well for them too.
When Zhao Yanli saw Su Yuanyuan, she immediately ran out, "Yuanyuan, when did you get back?"
"Got home yesterday, came to see you today."
"Haha, Yuanyuan, you’ve grown. You’re taller than me now." The two girls chatted and laughed.
"Yuanyuan, I’ll head to the farm headquarters first. Wait for me to pick you up to go home."
Su Yuanyuan nodded, "Sure, we should bring the livestock back too."
Zhao Yanli pulled Su Yuanyuan inside. "Yuanyuan, is it fun outside?"
"It’s alright, the train ride was the longest part."
Zhao Yanli nodded as well. When they came over, the train ride terrified her. The tickets they got were not sleeper tickets, they really had to sit through the whole trip for that month.
"That must be tiring. You’re still thinking about going out."
Su Yuanyuan just laughed and didn’t explain further.
Zhao Yanping and Zhao Xiaojing came down as well. Hearing the commotion, they started tidying up. The heatbed was covered with needles, shoe soles, and such. As they finished tidying up, the little sister had already brought Su Yuanyuan in.
"Big sister, second sister."
The two girls had really changed a lot; after all, Zhao Yanping was already a seventeen-year-old young lady.
"Yuanyuan, hurry up, come sit on the heatbed."
Zhao Qingjie also stepped through the curtain just then. Su Yuanyuan had just taken off her scarf.
"Yuanyuan, your hair?"

This girl hadn’t stayed home during winter since they came over.

Zhao Yanli pulled Su Yuanyuan onto the heatbed. With four young girls around, Zhao Qingjie felt a bit awkward, so he just said a word and went outside to make a fire for them.
"Yuanyuan, is it fun outside?" Zhao Yanping asked with a smile.
Su Yuanyuan nodded, "It’s alright. Pretty much the same everywhere; we spent most of our time on the train."
She kept giving this kind of answer since there were things that shouldn’t be said.
"Yuanyuan, next time can I go with you?" Zhao Yanli also wanted to see the outside world.
"If you go out with me, buying the train tickets aside, just taking the train is tiring."
"Well, I can’t afford to go out for fun. How about we go to the city sometime? I’ll drive the cart?"
"That sounds like a plan." Su Yuanyuan laughed.
She took out three pendants from her pocket and placed them in Zhao Yanli’s hand, "I brought these back for you guys from outside."
"You can wear them inside your clothes. No one will notice. These are jade; they’re quite ordinary, but they’re special to that area, so I brought one back for each of you."
"The quality is the same. People say they’re from the same piece of jade, just different patterns carved on them. You can choose for yourselves."
What girl doesn’t like this kind of thing? So, the three sisters’ eyes all focused on the pendants.
Each picked one and played with them in their hands.

"Yeah, it’s jade. They say jade is really good for you, but this material is average, not sure if it has such effects. Just wear it for fun."
"Thanks, Yuanyuan. I knew you’d think of me with good things." Zhao Yanli said as she put it around her neck.
"Yuanyuan, does it look good?"
Su Yuanyuan nodded with a smile, "Looks good."
Zhao Xiaojing had been quiet all along, having heard Tan Shaoting’s voice before. The window was sealed, so she didn’t see him, and felt a bit down.
"Yuanyuan, we now have twenty pairs of shoes. Shall we go to the city in a few days?" Zhao Yanli still longed to go out.
"We just walked back home yesterday. The road’s pretty open; if we’re heading to the city, walking might actually be quicker."
This made Zhao Yanli pull a long face, "I was hoping to drive out."
Zhao Yanping, now a grown-up young lady, was more reserved than them.
"Let’s wait until spring," she said.
Zhao Yanli pouted, "When will there be time then? This year we have one more sister-in-law, but she’s pregnant, can’t do much work. We’ve got a hundred more acres of land now."
"Sister-in-law is pregnant? I didn’t notice just now."
"Yeah, more than two months already. Sister-in-law said after spring thaw, it wouldn’t affect work."
"But sister-in-law is pregnant, can’t push her too hard, it’s bad for her and the baby."
"We brought back quite a bit of wheat. You can plant fifty acres of wheat, that’ll save some effort."
"Yuanyuan, Director Feng and the others say your winter wheat probably won’t make it."
Su Yuanyuan sighed, "I figured. That’s why we bought a lot of wheat seeds this time. Just planning to plant them in spring, exactly on the new land."
