Chapter 1921: Chapter 1921: Yin and Yang River
Starfire spent a month and used 1.5 million Ogres to establish a water system that surrounds the entire city.
The remaining Ogres were not idle either; they were all mobilized to construct a Gothic-style dark city, which is renowned as either the Light and Dark City or the City of Light and Shadow.
The water system encircling this city is called either the Yin and Yang River or the River of Ice and Fire. The water within Bright City is remarkably clear, sweet, invigorating, and incredibly pure, resembling an unparalleled clear spring.
Moreover, every morning the river water provides a buff to attributes, even quicker than the mana recovery rate provided by a Mage’s water. This has led to a mania for this water that maintains vitality for a whole day.
Although the attribute boost from the river water isn’t much, it’s still a kind of buff, so many players collect this water in the morning before heading off to Dire Maul for challenges. Because it is sourced from the Yin River, it is known as Yin River Water and has recently become a hot topic.
Meanwhile, the water from the Yang River has a notably high temperature, giving rise to several hot spring inns in the dark city. After a hard day, soaking in the hot springs with a group is the ultimate pleasure.
Of course, these hot springs also offer a buff; soaking for an hour grants a buff that enhances reputation and experience for an entire day.
Starfire also classified the inns into different tiers based on the strength of the effects.
This has created a unique sight in the city: countless players fetching water from the Yin River in the morning and soaking in hot springs in the evening.
The origin of this river has an interesting backstory.
As the outlines of the two cities emerged, Li Yao felt something was missing, and problems arose.
Both Bright City and Ghost Shadow City could stand alone as a main city, each being enormous and vast. Now, having become one city, the effect is even more astounding.
Without Flying Mounts, even the best ground mounts take several hours to ride in a straight line from one end to the other.
It was not just inconvenient for the players, but also internally challenging for Starfire.
To resolve this issue, Starfire had to deploy a large number of domesticated Pterosaurs for city transportation.
But the problem remained severe; although there were many Pterosaurs, the demand was equally large. Both Starfire’s members and the guild required a large number of Pterosaurs.
Starfire has more than just this city; currently, managing the logistics of hundreds of thousands of Pterosaurs is already pushing Starfire to its limit.
However, all these Pterosaurs cannot be solely allocated to the main city, as the surrounding towns and resource points are also crucial. Even though players have retreated, it does not mean that Starfire’s main city is secure.
The Feathermoon Stronghold’s Ancient Elf army has landed, and though their intentions are unclear, they pose a direct threat.
Closer is the ruin of the eastern Elven city, which was once a coastal city and is now in ruins, but it is teeming with Harpies, including many elite troops, making it a substantial threat.
In this month, towns in the east faced dozens of Harpy harassments. Though not large-scale attacks, on average, they were attacked over three times daily, creating critical points for Starfire’s defenses.
Players need to complete the door-opening quest, and defending this area is a crucial part of the quest.
Now, max-level players, especially male players, find this task daunting, and it isn’t an exaggeration to say so.
Female players are okay; at worst, they get killed by the Harpies. But male players suffer more as they get captured, and it turns out to be a mix of pain and pleasure.
Why? Because captured male players are used as breeding stock. Male players who resurrect after capture turn pale at the mention of Harpies.
Many rogue players even deliberately do this quest; after all, Harpies, though they have wings, are descendants of Elves and have captivating figures and alluring looks, offering a unique charm.
However, these players return looking equally pale, and some even panic and flee at the sight of a woman.
When asked about their experiences, they refuse to discuss it, behaving as if it’s an unbearable memory, with some becoming aggressive at the mention.
But to complete the door-opening quest, this task is unavoidable.
Of course, this is one of the most crucial threats. In reality, in Feralas’ primeval forest, where Ancient Trees tower and the region is intertwined with sub-dimensions, there are swarms of Warcrafts, making travel exceedingly dangerous.
Add to that the various mutated and terrifying creatures, and it’s no exaggeration to call it one of the most dangerous maps of the Ancient God.
The sub-dimension Ogres don’t have as much air power, so they station heavy troops at each point but can’t provide mutual support.
Starfire has no choice but to allocate most Pterosaurs for resource city communication.
Only a few are used for city transportation, at least meeting Starfire’s internal demand and also available to other players.
Also, for city safety, the Moon God’s Array has been activated slightly, banning flying like in Silvermoon City.
Therefore, it’s either ground mounts or using Moon God Imprint Pterosaurs, but they are costly, affordable only by wealthy players.
This brought early door-opening task players a great deal of suffering, as those tasks are not in a straight line.
Moreover, learning from the human capital Stormwind City’s river system is imperative.
Li Yao initially thought of connecting the Nameless Great Lake in the northern mountains of the city. This lake is located in the northern mountains of the city.
If one does not see it with their own eyes, they would never imagine a massive lake that seems to stretch endlessly at the summit of towering mountains.
It resembles an inland sea, with an astounding water volume, much like a serene refuge.
Li Yao’s idea was to open a river channel, build a dam, letting the river descend like a waterfall.
However, this plan had numerous problems. Not to mention the difficulty of constructing a dam, even clearing the terrifying creature herds in the mountains was a tremendous task, not something to be completed in a day or two.
Moreover, Li Jie raised a more serious concern. If Li Yao destroys the dam and floods the Lizardman’s Main City, then Starfire’s dam could be destroyed, and we do not have a Demigod to stop it.
This created a dilemma, leaving Starfire at an impasse internally for several days, and Li Yao couldn’t devise a better plan. While constructing a river would be convenient, it would also be like a sword hanging overhead, ready to fall at any moment.
This was the first time Li Yao truly encountered difficulty until one day, the Black Dragon Queen told Li Yao that two mysterious springs were suppressed in the earth veins of both cities. They connected the sea and two nearby large lakes, with abundant water.
After surveying and verifying together with the two Dragon Queens, Li Yao finally concluded that opening these two springs would create two magical rivers.
Ultimately, one spring emerged at the Temple of the Moon God, flowing down from the Moon held by the Moon God, forming the Yin River. The other spring emerged from the underground waterways of the Raven God Temple, forming the Yang River…
