Chapter 1918: Chapter 1918: Unparalleled

The Succubus shook her head and handed the box to Sister Li before saying, “My path to becoming stronger is becoming clearer, and the reward dagger won’t be any worse than this. Besides, Shadow Dance has been busy with guild matters, and he leads the assassin hall. This dagger is more suited for assassination. With it, Shadow Dance will become even more invincible. Giving it to me would be a waste of talent.”

Everyone thought for a moment and realized it was indeed as the Succubus said. Shadow Dance was indeed more suited for this dagger. Having spent so much time together, they all understood each other well. If there was a need, none of them would refuse. Besides, they could tell that the Succubus was genuinely sincere and not simply being modest.

Furthermore, the Succubus’s path to becoming stronger was not a secret, though Starfire’s recent matters had kept her too busy.

This was one of the downsides of joining a guild; you never know what might happen that could delay your own tasks. It was the same for everyone, not just the Succubus.

Of course, there were also gains to be had. It depends on one’s own pursuits and balance. If someone prefers to center on themselves or prefers a solo journey, they’d either be a lone wolf or part of a casual guild.

“Ahem, hearing my name made me pop out.” Shadow Dance suddenly revealed himself, joining the leadership team heading back to the main city.

“You’ve been watching the leadership channel all along, haven’t you? You came so quickly. Can’t you do something useful?” Tong Tong said with disdain.

“Little boss, you can’t accuse me. I just dealt with a sneaky thief trying to fish in troubled waters nearby. I didn’t come here on purpose,” Shadow Dance said earnestly.

“Is that so? In that case, there’s nothing for you here. Go back to your assassin hall and get busy,” said the Guardian Angel and Fruit Knight, who were monitoring the city wall with people to guard against others acting in desperation. Though they weren’t following along, they couldn’t help but interject.

Shadow Dance rubbed his hands together, “Ahem, I came to see my weapon. Since the Succubus leader doesn’t need it, I won’t be polite.”

“You’ve got some thick skin.” Tong Tong rolled her eyes.

“Since the Succubus leader doesn’t want it, wouldn’t it be wasted in the warehouse? Even if it doesn’t matter as much to me as it does to the Succubus leader, I can still use it to quench the blood of our enemies. Isn’t that delightful?” Shadow Dance said earnestly.

Sister Li, unable to hold back a chuckle, handed the box to him, “Here you go, you’re always goofing off and never serious, hardly like an assassin.”

“Sis, you’re like my real sister. You’re right; I’ll definitely change in the future.” Shadow Dance couldn’t help but play with the dagger as if he had obtained a rare treasure, “With this, my assassination ability can increase by more than 1.5 times. Just you wait and see.”

Everyone watched as he left, waving his arms and legs, shaking their heads in unison. No wonder he used to stick with Tong Tong, this was clearly a child who never grew up.

“The crisis is finally over. After a long day, everyone can rest now,” said Sister Li.

“Great, Sis, log off and make me something to eat,” Tong Tong said, salivating, “I’m starving.”

“Go eat at the guild canteen. I’m not tired yet, so I won’t be logging off for now,” Sister Li shook her head.

“I’ve just started planning, I need to keep going or I’ll lose my train of thought…” said Qin Feng Yi.

“Now is not the time to relax. I need to oversee operations at the Ogre Main City; it’s probably unstable there too,” the Succubus chimed in.

“Alright, everyone take action,” Sister Li nodded, “Phantom is likely busy over there.”

Everyone nodded and dispersed.

Tong Tong, speechless, clutched her stomach, “A bunch of workaholics and masochists, aren’t you going to eat?”

She wanted to plan with Qin Feng Yi as well, but her hunger was too much, so she had to log off and make a beeline for the guild’s reality-based canteen.

Elsewhere, Li Yao had just seized another base city.

“The battle over there at the main city ended, don’t you have anything to say?” KY asked, noting Li Yao’s lack of reaction.

Li Yao shook his head, “What’s there to feel about such a normal result?”

The two gaped, and the audience was speechless as well. This evaluation was overly confident. It was a united front of over twenty super guilds.

“Well, what if, just what if, something unexpected happens,” Xiao Ze carefully chose his words, “weren’t you worried at all?”

Li Yao seriously replied, “Futile as insects shaking a tree, do you really think an accident would occur?”

Their speechlessness grew; such self-confidence bordered on arrogance.

Li Yao provided no explanation, nor was there a need. As he always said, no one but him understands the concept of a main city just yet. No one knows that as long as there are half a million elite troops present, however many players assemble their armies, it’s useless. No one knows that even after months of encirclement, without means to capture it, their armies and engineering machinery won’t suffice.

This isn’t simply confidence or arrogance; it’s a fact. If those super guilds can’t grasp this, the gap will perpetuate. Li Yao certainly won’t kindly enlighten them; it’s better they think he’s outrageously arrogant.

When Starfire truly occupies the main city and everything stabilizes, they can only look up to him, virtually eliminating any chance of overturning the situation.

“Only four more to go,” Xiao Ze, wishing to change the unproductive topic, “What’s the next target?”

“Edward’s guild,” Li Yao said calmly.

While he remained composed, others didn’t. It was acknowledged as the world’s number one guild now being oppressed to this extent. If the bombardment succeeds, it’s undoubtedly a major event, even though it’s just another guild’s base.

Yet, that’s the intriguing thing about the world—people only acknowledge the first. Like a 100-meter dash, even being 0.01 seconds slower than the first still means being slower—nobody remembers who came second.

The bases may be similar, but the significance is vastly different.

Finally, with the Void King Insect’s teleportation, the base city of the world’s number one guild unfolded before everyone’s eyes.

One must admit, this city was built well. Though not constructed like an actual city like Starfire, its scale was large, and functional buildings only occupied a third of the space. This was already impressive and commendable, considering many major guilds had their bases with functional buildings occupying almost eighty to ninety percent.

It was evident they had invested heavily in building this city, but it was about to become a fiery pit, ceasing to exist.

The United Army had failed. The audience didn’t believe any delays could lead this guild to perform any miracles.

However, the reality shocked the audience, for amidst the shining lights of the city, an eerie silence reigned—no signs of life, as if it were a ghost town.

This was understandable though, as previously cities had staged symbolic resistance, moving their core treasures ahead, only resisting for show.

Would the world’s number one guild not even stage a symbolic resistance?

At this point, an exquisitely beautiful figure slowly appeared atop the tallest building…
