Chapter 212: Sea of Monsters

Chapter 212: Sea of Monsters

Kai had plummeted into the deep, dark ocean, separated from his ship by the strong waves and currents. The water dragged him like a rag doll, crashing into his body, pushing him underwater, and blocking his vision.

If you had asked him one of his biggest fears back on earth, he would have said that the ocean was one of them. It was a massive body of water with creatures lurking in its depths, and a person wasn’t able to breathe underwater.

But now, Kai wasn’t scared in the slightest. He still admitted that the black skies and dark water were creepy, but he wasn’t scared of monsters or dying. He was immortal after all. Not only that, but he was extremely powerful.

He blasted out of the water like a torpedo, rising into the air as the heavy rain beat down on his body. His hair was soaked, drooping over his eyes, and his clothes stuck to his skin.

As he looked around, he spotted his ship still in the same spot that it was in, give or take, being dragged underwater by a massive starfish, and he saw his girls battling little starfish on the deck.

Except for Sasha. Sasha was too busy throwing up.

"Are these the monsters that guy was talking about?" Kay flew back underwater, looking to see what the monster was like. When he swam close to it, the beast was just a large starfish. It didn’t look like a sea monster at all. But since it was attacking his ship, it might as well be.

"Blurb bbbuulrbbb bluuurbbbbb bla....."

’Right, I can’t speak underwater....Ahem...GET THE FUCK OFF MY SHIP YOU BITCH!’

Kai rammed into one of the rays, forcing it from his ship. He then grabbed it and yanked the whole thing off, causing the front of the ship to bounce super high, then crash back down with a huge splash.

"Ahhh! W-What happened?!" Gwen looked around.

"The starfish is off the ship!"

"That has to be Kai!"

Just then, Kai rocketed out of the water while pulling the starfish out of the water with him. It was the size of a large building, and its suction cups felt like superglue on his skin.

"Take this!" Kai spun around super fast, then flung the starfish out into the unknown, but before it splashed back into the water, he shot it with his eye beams, watching it blow up before all its parts just fell into the water.

"You all okay?" He waved his hand, getting rid of all the starfish on the deck. He then activated his ship’s defenses, something he forgot to do, and sat back down.

"What the hell was that?" Gwen breathed a sigh of relief, dropping to the floor from exhaustion.

"A giant starfish." He answered.

"Yeah, we know it’s a giant starfish, but why was it so big?" Kyana asked. She was still a big creeped out by the whole thing and hated the water even more.

"I don’t know. That was my first time seeing a starfish so big. That crewman said that the open ocean has sea monsters, so maybe that was just one of them."

"When I cut off one of its rays, it regenerated," Nadya explained

Kai nodded. "Yeah, that’s to be expected. Starfish have great regeneration abilities. Since this one is clearly a monster, it’s not surprising it took a few minutes at most instead of a few months to a year like they normally would."

"But that’s not all. From its severed limb, multiple mini, or I guess, regular starfish emerged. That’s what we were fighting."

Kai shuttered. "Ugh, that sounds gross. I’ve activated the ship’s defenses, so we should be fine until we reach land. But this doesn’t mean we won’t run into more sea monsters. Also, we will still be at sea for at least a week."

’The fastest boats back on earth traveled the Pacific Ocean from coast to coast in around a week. My ship is faster, but these oceans are bigger than the Pacific, plus there are sea monsters, so it could take even longer. Luckily, the ship’s defenses are online, so weaker sea monsters shouldn’t be a problem.’

"Dammit! Dammit! Dammit! I just want to touch some land, find a nice tree to hug, and touch some grass! Ughhhh!" Kyana went back below deck, taking Sasha with her.

Gwen and Amaya followed, while Kai and Nadya returned to their reclining chair together.

Over the next five days, they continued their journey through the harsh ocean. The storms became worse, and the monster attacks became more frequent. But thanks to the ship’s defenses, most monsters were killed before they could even do anything.

Kai, of course, made sure to have an inventory system on his ship so he could catch all the monsters he killed. Luckily, another massive starfish had come, so he killed it and collected its parts.

More sea monsters came, such as giant piranhas, two-legged sharks, man-eating seals, leopard seals that blasted fire out of their mouths for some reason, and it turned into a high-pressure water beam when it was underwater, and finally, killer whales.

Yes, that’s right. There was nothing special about the orcas. They were already such a menace that they didn’t even have special abilities in this world. They were just that insane.

It actually made Kai chuckle a bit. They were already at the top of the food chain back on Earth, and now they’re classified as monsters. It was as if they were originally from this world and accidentally ended up on Earth, bullying the sharks out of being the apex predator of the oceans.

On their 6th day of voyage, while Kai was again resting with Nadya on deck, the alarm went off, waking everybody up.

"We’re under attack." Kai rushed to the helm, where a screen appeared and showed a lot of red dots coming their way.

"W-What’s going on?" Nadya asked.

"A monster strong enough to penetrate the ship’s defenses is coming our way, but there are dozens of them!"

Kai purposely made his defenses this way. There were multiple settings for his defenses. One where it’s just minor defense, another where the ship is granted full protection, and a final one where anyone who tries to attack the ship will just die.

He still wanted to experience the fun parts of his adventure, so he didn’t activate the strongest defense setting. Was this stupid? No, because he could oneshot anyone he wanted, but still didn’t. So there was nothing to worry about. Even his girls were crazy strong.

The others made their way up to the deck and asked what was happening. Kai explained everything and told them to prepare for battle.
