Chapter 226: Operation Blue Magic tower success

"What was that?"

"I think I saw Master Carlito fall from the sky."

"Master Carlito?"

"No way!"

"Cannonball!" Coming from the sky was a blue ball that was falling really fast and was about to land on Carlito.

"Crazy bastard!" Carlito managed to get out of the way before Kai crushed him.

"Master! What happened?!"

"Some crazy bastard attacked me. Quickly, aid me in battle!" He demanded

"Yes, sir!" Dozens of sorcerers and torrents joined Carlito at his side while the rest fought off Selena, Seaweed, and Kai’s girls.

"Shame. Such a shame. Sending your subordinates to their death. I can’t help but shed a tear for them." Two shained blades appeared in Kai’s hands.

Carlito squinted. "Swords? Aren’t you a sorcerer? Why are you using such a weapon?"

"So I can hold your head and saw at your neck while I kill you." Kai dropped one of his blades and then kicked it into the head of one of the torrents, taking out the guy instantly.

"A-Attack him!"

"Hahah! Come at me bitches!"

Kai rushed in, having the time of his life as he plowed his way through the sorcerers and torrents. His senses were on high alert, and he could feel everything around him. To his left came a torrent, his sword beaming with mana as he prepared to cut down Kai. To his right, a sorcerer cast a binding spell to keep him in place.

Behind Kai was another sorcerer who aimed his staff at his back and fired a beam of highly condensed water. And to his front, Carlito chanted a dark spell to obliterate Kai.

Kai smirked. ’Interesting.’

He pulled the torrent with telekinesis, forcing the man to take his spot as he jumped out of the way. The binding spell hit the man, and then he was blasted through the back with the powerful stream of water.

Since the man wasn’t as strong as Kai, the spell went right through him and was on a collision course with Carlito.

"Dammit!" Carlito blocked the spell, but the time he took to do so was detrimental to his people.

In just one second alone, Kai cut down the mages and torrents before they could even react. He moved fast, throwing his blades into people’s chests, kicking off their heads, blasting them down with his laser eyes, and punching their guts out.

It was so fast that none of them even registered how they died when they did.

"H-How did-ARGHHHH!!!!!" Carlito barely managed to block Kai’s blade with his barrier, getting pushed back in the process.

"Abyss walkers!" A dark, goopy pool of mana swirled in the ground, and soldiers of darkness crawled out of the abyss. "Kill him."

Kai had never seen a spell like this before. He had no idea what these were or what powers they possessed, and he had no interest in finding out.

"Destruction." Kai’s palm beamed purple, and the abyss walkers desintegrated.

"W-What?!"

"Find a different reaction." Kai pulled Carlito in and clobbered him in the stomach. He followed up with a kick to the back, then an uppercut that sent him flying onto the magic tower’s roof.

Carlito’s body ached. He could feel that some of his bones were broken, and he knew he stood no chance against Kai.

’The sphere!’ Carlito broke the roof and fell into the tower.

"Hey! Don’t run away! Get back here!" Kai rocketed to the top of the tower, entering the hole Carlito made.

"Hahahahahahahaha! You’re too late! Die!" Carlito activated the sphere. He didn’t choose any specific spell. Instead, he chose all of them. He didn’t care about the damage, the number of people who would die, or any of the repercussions. He just wanted Kai dead.

"Uhh, is the sphere supposed to turn red like that? It looks as if it’s about to explode."

"Huh?" Catlito looked at the sphere, and it was indeed about to explode. " Dammit! How is this possible! Stop! Stop, I said! Why isn’t it shutting down?!"

"Oh, that? Well, it’s because I injected my mana into it when I arrived. Seeing how it can’t even handle a fraction of my mana, that weapon must be trash."

Carlito glared at Kai. "You think your mana can overload the sphere?! This was designed to absorb countless amounts of-"

His speech was cut off as Kai released all of his mana, blanketing the entire island with his power. Everyone felt it. The civilians, the sorcerers, torrents, Abigail, her mother, everyone.

’S-Such power! He was just toying with me this whole time!’ Carlito lost the strength in his legs and collapsed. "I-I’m fucked."

"Indeed. But hey, at least this was fun, right?"

"You fucking-" Kai crushed his head before he could finish.

"Well, that’s over now." He removed his mana from the sphere, allowing it to shut down, and he stopped blanketing the island with his power.

"Okay, time to see how everyone else is doing."

---

"Is that all?" Amaya asked, cutting off a man’s head.

"Yup, that was the last of them." Gwen took out a napkin to wipe the blood off her hands.

"Did you feel that, though? It felt like Kai." Sasha looked up at the tower and saw Kai tripping on a rock and falling to the ground with a loud thud.

"Is everyone okay? What are our losses?" Selena went around doing headcounts to see how many they lost, but to her shock, they didn’t lose a single person.

"What? Surprised that you didn’t lose anyone today?" Kyana asked.

"Honestly, yes. In every battle, I expect to lose at least one person. Isn’t it the same with you when you travel with your companions?"

Kyana could help but chuckle as she thought about how protective Kai was. He didn’t even let them fight battles he wasn’t sure they could win.

"No, not really. Kai is a bit overprotective. Not that I don’t mind. I like that about him." She smiled.

"Aren’t you all tier-10 sorcerers? You’re talking as if he’s vastly stronger than you five."

Kyana just stared at Selena, smiled, then walked away.

’H-He’s vastly stronger than them? C-Could he be beyond the 10th tier?’

Nadya, who was listening to the conversation, chucked and joined the others.
