Chapter 363: Cause for concern
Silas wiped at the blood staining his finger without once breaking eye contact with his wife.
In the end, he lifted the marked cloth up before waving it in plain sight for her half-lidded eyes to behold.
"Now, you are forever and completely mine," he stated.
Utterly out of breath and eyes practically flickering shut, Arabella continued to squirm until he put the cloth down and laid by her side.
"I think a break is a must," his eyes studied every inch of her sweltering, naked body.
"You do not wish to continue," eyebrows high up her forehead, she half asked, her voice meek and sickly sweet.
"How dare you even suggest that I wish to stop?" his glare turned colder before quickly mellowing when noting the apprehension in her gaze, "Of course I want to continue. I want to go as far as my body allows, but... I know for a fact that it will be much further than yours will go," he smiled, his fingers brushing the rebellious hairs that clung to her wet face.
"I can go a lot further if... If I ingested your blood," very sheepish she was, anticipating his reaction.
That reaction quickly came in the form of a rigid stance, "I told you already, your body isn’t meant to consume blood very often,"
When her expression turned dim, the vampire added, "Please," he wiped the remaining tears of pleasure that stained her cheeks, "I do not mean to upset you, but I also don’t wish to harm you. The night is still very young. There is time for us to do so much more so, don’t fret and... Be a little more patient,"
"No, it isn’t that," she shook her head, "It’s just that your words reminded me of something that had completely slipped my mind,"
His eyebrows furrowed, "What words and what did they remind you of?"
"About my body...," she bit down on her bottom lip, "Remus said something to me when he first came to embrace me yesterday,"
Silas said nothing and waited impatiently for the rest to come.
"He said that I had changed somehow. He said that something in me has changed or... I am not even sure anymore,"
"Did he specify what changed?" he asked.
"No, only that he could smell the difference,"
At that moment, no matter how hard he tried to focus his olfaction, the only smell that wafted from her was that of pure, unbridled desire for physical pleasure.
"I smell nothing out of the ordinary,"
"That was exactly what I thought at the moment," Arabella laid an arm under her head in order to turn and further face her husband, "Was there something he could smell that you didn’t notice?"
"This is something we’ll need to figure out as soon as possible," his eyes lingered on her neck, "As young as he is, his senses remain sharp. I don’t like the prospects of his discovery,"
When Silas laid a gentle hand on Arabella’s bare stomach, the young woman let out a tiny gasp of surprise which painted a smile on Silas, "Don’t worry, you will get used to my touch sooner rather than later,"
"How are you feeling?" she asked out of the blue.
"Me?" taken aback, the vampire took a moment to consider his next words, "I do feel more than alright... Although, I suffer from some... Tightness,"
He looked down at himself and her eyes quickly followed.
"It is unfair,"
"Please, be patient. I understand how frustrating it can be but... The difference between us is something that needs to be taken in consideration. I can go on for as long as I have you in front of my eyes, but you...," his head shook from left to right very slowly as he spoke.
"I meant it is unfair for you," she murmured.
"You are so good to me," Silas leaned forward to kiss her forehead, "But all the same, I can’t allow my mind to succumb to my bodily whims. I want you by my side for as long as...,"
He trailed off, seemingly unable to finish that sentence.
"For as long as I live,"
A moment of quiet claimed the tiny bit of space they’d left between themselves. A moment during which their eyes scoured every inch of the other’s face. Every feature, every micro expression, while basking in the warmth of the breaths they exchanged.
"Say... A question just popped in my mind," Silas’s brows furrowed once anew, "When you suggested that you ingest my blood earlier. Did you do it out of some sense of obligation you feel towards me, or did you genuinely crave the taste of it?"
Arabella took a few seconds to ponder his words over, her eyes narrowing then widening from time to time, "I know it was definitely not out of obligation or anything of that sort,"
"That is a bit of a relief but I still wish to know the precise reason if that isn’t too much to ask," he insisted.
"To be honest with you, I can’t decide between whether it was because I simply wanted to go on or if it was the taste I wanted,"
His hand cupped her cheek and caressed it, "I won’t lie, the thought of you suddenly craving blood does concern me,"
"May we worry about this at another time, please?"
Her pleading eyes won without a fight on his end. Silas merely sighed, brushing strokes of warm air against her skin as he breathed out.
There was no need for words. Arabella knew he agreed. The meek smile that adorned her features was testament enough to that.
Not much was said after that. The two of them just laid there, admiring each other until, and very shortly, Arabella’s eyelids seemed to be growing heavier and heavier before eventually shutting the curtains completely on her beautiful gemstones.
Silas listened in on her heart for the evening of its rhythm as time allowed it to simmer.
He sat up to take the thicker sheets at his feet and pull them over her body.
It did him absolutely no good to gape at it with all of the longing keeping his cock up and ready for action.
