Chapter 319: Chapter 321: Do you like me?

Behind her, the black Maybach’s engine roared and, like an arrow loosed from its string, sped away.

Fluffy Zane gradually found it hard to keep running, her steps slowing. The summer evening breeze still carried a slight stuffiness. She lifted her hand, brushed her hair behind her shoulders, and panted softly. Her head was still somewhat dizzy, so she stood still, hoping to clear her mind after a moment.

In the rearview mirror, William Guillen watched the staggering silhouette run away. Gradually, the figure dwindled to a tiny speck until it finally disappeared completely. This whole process took only a few seconds.

As the car sped along, the frustration in his heart showed no signs of cooling down.

SCREECH— A sharp braking sound pierced the sky as the tires left long friction marks on the road surface.

"Damn it!"

He clenched one hand into a fist and pounded the steering wheel.

Fluffy Zane stood in place, watching the constant flow of traffic, her mind beginning to go blank...

The black Maybach returned, pulling over to the side of the road.

The tall man got out, slammed the car door forcefully, and strode towards her with a stern face.

Fluffy Zane couldn’t believe her eyes... He came back?

She stared dumbfounded at him.

Just as she had for so many years, she always stood behind him, chasing his every step.

Year after year, it had never changed.

"William Guillen, you..."

"You what? Standing here, who are you waiting for?"

William Guillen violently grabbed her arm and dragged her towards the car.

Stumbling and almost falling as she was dragged, Fluffy Zane was shoved into the car by William Guillen, who then slammed the door shut.

He walked around the front of the car and got into the driver’s seat.

Fluffy Zane buckled her seatbelt. Suddenly, she started giggling, her dazed head seemingly starting to clear.

"What’s gotten into you?"

Fluffy Zane turned her head and looked at William Guillen’s excessively handsome face. "William Guillen, do you like me?"

Like?

Upon hearing the word, William Guillen seemed as if stung and instinctively recoiled.

The resistance in his eyes pained Fluffy Zane, but she didn’t give up, refusing to believe it. "You were so agitated just now. Was it because you saw me with Jim Jones and got angry?"

She didn’t believe that his impulsive punch aimed at Jim Jones was merely out of ordinary concern.

Nor did she believe that his return was solely to take her home.

Though she knew she shouldn’t flatter herself, Fluffy Zane couldn’t help but suspect now that his actions tonight held not even a hint of affection for her.

William Guillen sneered, shattering her expectations. "You’re overthinking it. I just didn’t want to stand by and watch you fall into danger. After all, the relation between our two families is a known fact. Since I was there, I couldn’t simply stand aside. Considering both sentiment and reason, it was my duty to lend you a hand."

Some ’help’ that was.

Fluffy Zane took a deep breath, exhausted, and leaned against the chair back. "Take me home, please."

Seeing that she wouldn’t cause any more trouble, William Guillen finally started the engine and drove her home.

She didn’t have William Guillen drive her all the way to her door. When they were still some distance from the doorway, Fluffy Zane asked him to stop.

"Stop. I’ll get out here."

William Guillen said nothing and stopped. Fluffy Zane unbuckled her seatbelt and said despondently, "Anyway, thanks for the ride home tonight."

Watching her receding figure, William Guillen sneered, turned the car around, and drove out of the villa district.
