Chapter 317: Chapter 319: I’m not interested tonight, you can leave
"When William Guillen came over just now, your eyes had already betrayed you."
"I’m sorry, I really didn’t mean to." Fluffy Zane was a little flustered, one hand propping her forehead. "I didn’t know he would come here. I just bumped into him all of a sudden..."
A warm, broad palm settled on her head.
Fluffy Zane looked up in surprise and met Jim Jones’ warm and clear eyes. He curved his lips into a faint smile, gently rubbing her head twice as he comforted her, "It’s okay, I can understand. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself."
"Jim, has anyone ever told you that you’re a warm man?"
Jim Jones raised an eyebrow. "Is that a compliment?"
"Yes, it means to praise someone for being very warm."
Jim Jones laughed. "No, you’re the first. I’m honored to receive your praise."
Mila had been trying to find topics of conversation, talking until she was parched, while William Guillen merely offered perfunctory replies.
She felt like a clown in a one-man show, unable to capture any attention.
"Young Master Guillen, do you... want to have dinner with Miss Zane?" Mila asked cautiously.
He was too unusual. He had been acting strange since the moment he saw Fluffy Zane.
William Guillen put down his knife and fork, his eyes turning cold. "What makes you think that?"
Mila rearranged her hair with some chagrin. "I guessed. Young Master Guillen, please don’t be angry."
"I’m done eating."
William Guillen picked up the napkin and wiped the corners of his mouth. With that said, he called the waiter over to pay the bill.
Mila’s eyes widened. Was he angry?
Was he angry because she mentioned Fluffy Zane?
Mila felt a little wronged and put down her knife and fork, not daring to speak carelessly again, lest she lose the one night she had worked so hard to get.
Jim Jones, noticing William Guillen and his companion getting up and walking towards them out of the corner of his eye, smiled and lowered his voice to tell Fluffy Zane, "Fluffy, they’re leaving. Keep smiling."
Fluffy Zane smiled and nodded. "Alright."
William Guillen approached Fluffy Zane’s side, his expression unreadable. He stopped, his gaze turning slightly cold as he said, "Fluffy, we’re leaving first. Have a good date."
"Thank you." Fluffy Zane politely thanked him, but she didn’t really want to wish him a pleasant date.
A barely audible cold snort sounded from above her head. Before Fluffy Zane could determine whether it was from William Guillen, he had left with his female companion.
Withdrawing her gaze from his gradually receding figure, Fluffy Zane immediately lost her appetite.
"Jim, I’m finished eating."
Jim Jones took out two movie tickets. "I’ve bought the tickets, and it’s still early. Shall we go now?"
"Alright."
After leaving the restaurant, William Guillen lit a cigarette, puffing irritably.
Mila clung to his arm coquettishly. "Young Master Guillen, where are we going now? Or are we going back to the hotel?"
Back to the hotel?
William Guillen sneered and pulled his arm from her grasp. "I’m not in the mood tonight. You can leave."
Not in the mood?
Mila looked at him incredulously. "Young Master Guillen, you’re not joking, are you?"
"Do I look like I’m joking?" William Guillen took a deep drag from his cigarette, his handsome brows furrowed tightly, his face a mask of impatience.
Mila shrank back timidly, wisely choosing not to pester him any further. "Alright... I’ll go first. Young Master Guillen, call me anytime if you need me."
William Guillen retrieved his car but didn’t rush to leave, instead sitting in the car smoking quietly.
By the time he’d finished his second cigarette, he saw Fluffy Zane leaving with Jim Jones.
The two were very close as they walked along. Fluffy Zane’s steps were a little unsteady, and Jim Jones supported her with one hand.
