Chapter 1639: Chapter 1639: Why Don’t You Try to Persuade Me?

Upon hearing this familiar voice, Chen Xiaoyi couldn’t help but shiver, and uncontrollable tears streamed down her face.

She very much wanted to turn around to see where this person was standing or to jump up against all reason and rush into his embrace.

But in the end, she did nothing, maintaining her original sitting posture.

However, the tears that rolled down and the blood-stained lips completely betrayed her current feelings.

So much so that her shoulders were shaking violently.

“It’s so cold, and you’re still interested in sitting here enjoying the scenery?” Luo Ziling sat down heavily beside Chen Xiaoyi, jokingly saying, “The public security in Tokyo is quite good, but there are shady-minded people everywhere. Aren’t you afraid of being harassed? If some Japanese pirate took you away to be the Lady in Charge of Suppressing Bandits, that would be terrible.”

Finally discovering Chen Xiaoyi’s whereabouts by the canal, Luo Ziling felt relieved.

Chen Xiaoyi’s whereabouts were discovered by Yang Xiaodong, who immediately informed him after spotting her sitting there in a daze.

After searching separately, Luo Ziling rushed over upon hearing Yang Xiaodong’s notification.

Seeing Chen Xiaoyi actually sitting on the steps enjoying the scenery, he felt relieved.

As he walked over, he joked with Chen Xiaoyi, hoping their meeting wouldn’t be too awkward.

“None of your business,” Luo Ziling’s joke made Chen Xiaoyi’s tears flow even faster, and she burst into sobs.

Unable to control her emotions, Chen Xiaoyi turned to face her back to Luo Ziling and sobbed into her hands.

Luo Ziling did not try to comfort her; he knew Chen Xiaoyi needed a good cry to relieve her inner depression, so he simply took off his overcoat and draped it over her shoulders.

In early spring, the weather in Tokyo was still very cold, with nighttime temperatures dropping to around zero degrees.

Chen Xiaoyi wasn’t wearing much, and in the night she appeared pitiful, like a Cold Shivering Bird.

After Luo Ziling put the coat on her, Chen Xiaoyi cried even harder. Eventually, Luo Ziling couldn’t hold back and reached out to pull her into his embrace.

It wasn’t out of a desire but rather a protective instinct that arose from seeing her cry so pitifully.

At first, Chen Xiaoyi stiffened her body, resisting Luo Ziling’s comfort and embrace, but after a while, she finally gave up, collapsed into Luo Ziling’s arms, and cried even more uncontrollably. She cried until Luo Ziling’s coat was soaked through, yet she didn’t stop.

Luo Ziling could only grimace and try to comfort her, telling her not to cry.

“Why are you here?” After crying for at least ten minutes, Chen Xiaoyi finally stopped crying. She pushed Luo Ziling away angrily and said, “I told you I don’t want to see you again. Why did you come looking for me? I don’t want to wear your clothes.”

With that, she took off the coat wrapped around her and tossed it back to Luo Ziling.

Luo Ziling reached out to catch it, looking at the indignant Chen Xiaoyi with a wry smile.

Chen Xiaoyi did not avoid his gaze, her eyes filled with stubbornness.

Luo Ziling met Chen Xiaoyi’s stubborn gaze, walking toward her, and rewrapped the coat around her shoulders, insisting she put it on despite her struggle. As he did so, Chen Xiaoyi sneezed heavily.

A few droplets of spit landed on Luo Ziling, with some even splattering on his face.

Luo Ziling wiped his face helplessly, then looked at Chen Xiaoyi with a sense of grievance. “Even if you have a grudge against me, there’s no need to retaliate this way.”

Chen Xiaoyi was almost amused by Luo Ziling’s helpless expression but ultimately turned her face away, ignoring him, though she did not take off the coat.

“Alright, let’s go. The scenery here may be nice, but it’s too cold. You’ve already caught a chill, so go back quickly, or you’ll catch a cold,” Luo Ziling said, putting his arm around Chen Xiaoyi’s shoulders, and then softly asked, “You probably haven’t eaten dinner; your little face is all skin and bones. Come on, I’ll take you out for a midnight snack. Tell me what you’d like to eat.”

“I’m not going,” Chen Xiaoyi refused bluntly, pouting as she stood there.

“Alright, then I’ll keep you company for a while to look at the scenery,” Luo Ziling said, pulling Chen Xiaoyi wrapped in his coat into his embrace.

There was still no sensuality, just the simple act of seeing Chen Xiaoyi shivering and wanting to warm up together.

He himself also felt a little cold, having few layers of clothing on.

By the canal, the wind was strong and carried moisture, with a cold that pierced to the bone.

Chen Xiaoyi didn’t struggle; after stiffening for a while, she finally relaxed and leaned against Luo Ziling, though she said nothing.

Luo Ziling also remained silent, just standing there.

After about ten minutes, he gently asked, “Why did you come to Tokyo?”

Chen Xiaoyi opened her mouth but did not answer.

“Where are you planning to go next?”

Chen Xiaoyi still did not answer, and Luo Ziling didn’t mind, continuing to ask, “When will you return to Europe?”

“I haven’t decided yet,” Chen Xiaoyi finally spoke.

“We are planning to go to Hanseong the day after tomorrow.”

“Hanseong?” Chen Xiaoyi frowned, casting a glance at Luo Ziling, “Isn’t it Seoul?”

“I like the name Hanseong that has been used for thousands of years,” Luo Ziling chuckled, “Anyway, as long as you understand what I’m saying.”

“I’ve seen some news reports about you,” Chen Xiaoyi relaxed a little, speaking with a soft voice, “It has created quite a stir.”

“That’s my nature.”

Chen Xiaoyi said nothing more.

She snuggled in closer to Luo Ziling’s arms.

The wind blew, and it was still quite cold.

“Let’s go,” Luo Ziling said, putting his arm around Chen Xiaoyi’s shoulders, “I’ll take you for a midnight snack.”

Chen Xiaoyi did not reply, but she no longer resisted, leaning against Luo Ziling as they walked forward.

“What have you eaten today?”

“I didn’t have dinner, just some coffee. I didn’t eat lunch either,” Chen Xiaoyi thought for a moment before honestly admitting.

“Are you trying to ruin your health?” Luo Ziling looked at Chen Xiaoyi helplessly, “Let’s get you something warm to eat, and then back to your hotel, and I’ll help you warm up. Luckily, I brought my silver needles, just in case they’d come in handy.”

When Chen Xiaoyi heard Luo Ziling say he’d help her warm up, she thought he meant something else. She realized her mistake when he mentioned the silver needles, feeling a bit awkward and disappointed.

“How long do you plan to stay in Tokyo?” Luo Ziling asked again.

“Not sure,” Chen Xiaoyi shook her head, “But I have to return to Europe by the 8th. My vacation is almost over.”

Luo Ziling calculated; there were three days left.

“Then take this time to walk around and clear your mind,” Luo Ziling said with regretful laughter, “I won’t have time to keep you company these few days. I’m a key player in fighting the Japanese pirates; without me, the act wouldn’t be as exciting.”

“I know,” Chen Xiaoyi felt quite disappointed, but she stubbornly said, “It’s not like I wanted you to accompany me. I won’t see you again after this. Maybe I’ll settle in Europe and never return home.”

“You’ve said that before!”

“Then why don’t you persuade me?” Chen Xiaoyi suddenly lost her temper, pushing Luo Ziling away and glaring at him.

Luo Ziling, not expecting such suddenness from Chen Xiaoyi, didn’t react immediately.
