When they left, Yang Qingyin finally appeared.
Yang Qingyin was waiting for them in the hospital courtyard.
Seeing Luo Ziling and Luo Liansheng, Ling Ruonan, and Luo Yuqing come out, she immediately greeted them.
After exchanging greetings, she asked Luo Ziling, “How did the chat with my grandpa and dad go?”
“It’s okay,” Luo Ziling replied with a smile, “This matter is just going to be set aside.”
“Really?” Yang Qingyin obviously didn’t believe it would be settled so easily, so she looked at Luo Ziling with a face full of doubt, then glanced at Ling Ruonan and Luo Liansheng.
“Someone is definitely trying to stir things up. Your dad will investigate this matter thoroughly. We’ll wait for his conclusion,” Ling Ruonan responded, briefly explaining before adding, “We should head back now. During this period, Ziling doesn’t have the capacity to help your grandpa and brother with treatment, I hope you understand.”
Seeing that Ling Ruonan didn’t mention asking Luo Liansheng to help with the treatment, Yang Qingyin was slightly disappointed but said nothing in the end.
Because Yang Yuanshan and Yang Yunlin were still in the hospital, Yang Qingyin didn’t linger much longer, said a few words simply, and went to the ward.
Luo Liansheng prepared to return home, Ling Ruonan wanted to talk a bit more with Luo Ziling, so she told him to follow her to the Northern Group first.
Thus, the four parted ways, Luo Ziling went with Ling Ruonan to the Northern Group, while Luo Yuqing accompanied Luo Liansheng back to the villa.
On the way to the Northern Group, Ling Ruonan asked about the situation before she arrived, and Luo Ziling recounted the events that happened after he went, including the confrontation he and Luo Yuqing had with Yang Yunlin.
When Luo Ziling mentioned that Luo Yuqing tore into Yang Yunlin and publicly shouted at him, Ling Ruonan showed a slight expression of surprise.
“She does care about you a lot,” Ling Ruonan said with some emotion, “After you fainted that day, she fought desperately to protect you, even got into a fight with Yang Yunlin. Today, again, it’s really tough for her.”
“Yuqing hopes to receive full recognition from you, to be accepted as a member of the Luo Family,” Luo Ziling chuckled, “She already isn’t considered part of the Li Family, and the Li Family won’t possibly look after her any more. If not considering us, they might even harm her. She can rely only on us, therefore, she is eager to achieve something to prove herself, to make us, especially you, look at her differently. This is the reality factor. Emotional factors also play a big role; she truly regards us as her real family.”
Ling Ruonan nodded but didn’t say anything more about Luo Yuqing.
It wasn’t until they were almost at the Northern Group headquarters that Ling Ruonan mentioned giving Luo Yuqing a hundred thousand in funds to let her arrange a public welfare fund advertisement film for disabled veterans.
After mentioning this, Ling Ruonan straightforwardly told Luo Ziling her intentions, “First give her a chance to handle small funds, let her slowly grow. As long as she performs well and is sincere, many things can truly be entrusted to her.”
“She should understand this, and surely will cherish the opportunity you give her,” Luo Ziling said and smiled.
Ling Ruonan only smiled too, and said nothing further.
When the mother and son arrived at the office, Ling Ruonan brought up the matter with the Yang Family again. “I suppose you understand what is really going on, right?”
“Yang Yuanshan brought Yang Yunlin to us to admit fault and said they would investigate the truth of this matter. They didn’t mention compensating us, suggesting they don’t plan to fob us off with small favors. When it’s crucial, or perhaps when necessary, they will give us substantial benefits,” Luo Ziling analyzed a bit and then asked Ling Ruonan, “Is that what it’s about?”
“It’s good to think like that,” Ling Ruonan smiled, “Right, earlier did you consider asking them for anything?”
“I thought about it, but felt there was nothing worthwhile to ask for!”
“Why? Did you never consider taking the chance to ask them to let Qingyin marry you?” Luo Ziling’s words surprised Ling Ruonan a bit.
“No matter what, I wouldn’t use such an incident to make such a request,” Luo Ziling replied with a bashful smile, “It doesn’t make sense.”
Ling Ruonan smiled, her gaze expressing approval.
“Actually, before today, I already confronted Yang Yunlin. We argued on the phone, and I arranged to meet him to scold him. Putting such pressure on him, then lightly letting this matter go, at least, he shouldn’t target you for anything anymore. Repaying evil with kindness may seem weak at times, but the results might not be bad.” Upon saying this, Ling Ruonan smiled, “Actually, as long as you’re okay, I’m relieved. Anything else is secondary.”
“Mom, I feel the same way; as long as our family is safe, then that’s all that matters. Everything else is not important. I also believe that this matter wasn’t planned by Yang Yunlin. It’s just that his intelligence and emotional quotient are lacking, thus acting out in anger. After the fact, he surely realizes he made a mistake. This incident occurring now is advantageous for my dad returning to Yanjing. I’ll just consider it as sacrificing myself, for the sake of Dad!”
“However, regardless, Mom won’t forgive those who deliberately try to harm you,” Ling Ruonan became serious, saying, “Between Yang Yunlin and us, there was resentment twenty years ago that hasn’t dissolved but has intensified.”
“Mom, are you advising me to break up with Qingyin?” Luo Ziling asked quietly, head down.
“No,” Ling Ruonan shook her head, “Mom is just explaining her attitude towards Yang Yunlin. How you and Yang Qingyin choose to define your relationship, that’s your business; it’s entirely up to you. If one day you do marry her, Mom will still accept her as a daughter-in-law. However, accepting Yang Qingyin as a daughter-in-law doesn’t mean accepting Yang Yunlin as a relative.”
Ling Ruonan’s words left Luo Ziling feeling a bit heavy-hearted.
If Ling Ruonan had strongly forbidden him from interacting with Yang Qingyin, he would certainly develop a rebellious mindset, perhaps even oppose Ling Ruonan.
Yet Ling Ruonan didn’t stop him and told him she is willing to let him marry Yang Qingyin, accept her as a daughter-in-law. By passing the choice on to him, she rather added pressure on him.
“In the coming period, discontinue the treatment for Yang Yuanshan. Anyway, you definitely can’t keep up physically. Grandpa will continue treating Yang Qingye until he recovers. This matter cannot be abandoned midway; no matter what, Yang Qingye has treated you well. Your grandpa needs to help treat Yang Qingye and Huang Chen’s mother, while also taking care of you. He is an elderly man, his health is not like that of young people. His energy is limited and cannot continue treating Yang Yuanshan. In this matter, follow our arrangements!”
Luo Ziling listened and nodded lightly, not opposing.
