Chapter 332: Chapter 331: Continue Working
"Comrade, if I buy wholesale, what price can you give me?" Lin Wan picked out several colors and began discussing with the shop owner.
"Wholesale?" The small shop owner was clearly surprised. She opened this yarn shop just to make a living. There’s no yarn factory in S City.
The goods were sent to her by her cousin from another place. Her cousin works at a yarn factory. Taking them directly from the factory is cheaper.
"Yes, I also do business myself, needing a large quantity, one color requires a hundred pounds. Do you have that here?"
"A hundred pounds... and... one color?" The owner was clearly shocked. Her shop had just opened a month ago. There usually wasn’t much business.
Just the past couple of days, the weather changed slightly, bringing a few customers.
"Pay in cash?"
"Yes."
Lin Wan smiled, looking at this young lady owner; she should be younger than her. Clearly, she was scared by the large order, or maybe feared Lin Wan might be a scammer, like when she last dealt with Sister Zhao.
"Comrade, my surname is Lin, I opened a clothing shop at the South Street wholesale stand. I know some knitting skills, so I want to buy some to knit myself. I need a lot; can you give me a discount? If possible, we can cooperate frequently in the future. The idea is to earn small profits but sell more by securing a long-term customer. You won’t lose out."
The young owner looked at Lin Wan, then lowered her head to think, walked to the counter, flipped through her account book, and contemplated the costs.
As if making a significant decision, she said, "If you really need this quantity, for this kind of yarn, I’ll give you one yuan twenty for a pound." She quickly shook her head, "Can’t go lower."
This price was already fair. The young lady was doing such a big deal for the first time, very honest, probably making only a couple of cents per pound. Lin Wan didn’t show eagerness, pondered for a moment, then frowned slightly, "One yuan twenty, it is then. Can you throw in a few sets of needles?"
"I can give you three sets." A few cents for needles, giving them away wasn’t a big deal.
"Alright, help me prepare the goods."
"Ah... need it now?" The young owner was anxious; she didn’t have that much in stock.
Lin Wan understood her meaning. She knew when she came; such small shops wouldn’t have so much stock on hand. Even a department store might not.
"How much do you have now?"
"About fifty pounds of each."
"I’ll take these fifty pounds first. When will the next shipment arrive?"
"In about a week."
"Alright, then hurry up. I’ll come back to check in a week."
Seven colors, fifty pounds each, totaling four hundred twenty yuan. Lin Wan gave it to her in one go.
Having done business for a month, it was the first time selling so much, very cautious, checking the money for a good ten minutes.
Lin Wan humorously reminded, "Young lady, I need so much yarn. Wouldn’t you let me put down a deposit as a guarantee? Otherwise, if your goods arrive and I back out, wouldn’t you have worked for nothing?"
The young owner suddenly slapped her forehead and laughed twice, "Thank you, sister, for the reminder. Sister, can you give me a bit more deposit? I... I run a small business, don’t have that much capital."
"I can give you a hundred, but no more."
"Thank you, sister, for your trust, thank you. I know business is about trust. Rest assured, I’ll get the goods for you in a week."
Lin Wan nodded, "Alright."
"Sister, my last name is Yu, and I’m called Yu Qianqian. I live on Er Gangzi Street. Rest assured, when the goods arrive, I’ll deliver them to you."
Lin Wan gave Yu Qianqian a hundred yuan for a deposit. She left the three hundred pounds of yarn with Yu Qianqian and took another stroll down the street.
