The Heart of the Universe, far larger than any planet, pulsed with a dark blue light, majestic and sacred.
Yet, at this moment, the Heart of the Universe was continuously emitting pained divine thoughts of wailing. It could control a planar universe, but in the hands of the Demon God, it was like a plaything, easily manipulated.
The leading Demon God unleashed demonic energy from his hands, diligently refining the Heart of the Universe. Around him were more than a dozen Demon Lords, all in similar stances, assisting him in the refinement.
"You few, take on one Demon Lord each and slay them. Ao Lie, you and I will go kill that Demon God!"
Wan Lei quickly issued his orders.
"I'll go kill the Demon God too,"
Fang Xiaoyu shouted from behind Wan Lei.
"No need. Ao Lie and I are sufficient to deal with that Demon God. You go help the others kill the Demon Lords, kill them as quickly as possible!"
Wan Lei refused without hesitation.
"Hmph, you've got a new flame and forgotten the old love. It used to be me fighting alongside you."
Wan Lei stumbled at her words, his cultivation almost becoming unstable. Did "new flame" and "old love" really fit here?
"Face the enemy!"
The Demon God also spotted the approaching Rainy Squad. He decisively abandoned the half-refined Heart of the Universe and led his subordinates to meet the invaders.
The members of the Rainy Squad dismounted from the giant dragon, scattering to engage their respective opponents. Ao Lie, his charge unbroken, barreled towards the Demon God.
The Dragon race's physical bodies were incredibly robust. When the Five Great Immortal Venerables were young and weak, they had chosen dragon bodies to reshape their physiques, a testament to the Dragon race's might.
On the battlefield, the Dragon race had forged a formidable reputation. The demon race would rather face the divine race than engage in combat with the Dragon race.
It was fortunate that the Dragon race had always been few in number, otherwise, the demon race might not have been able to maintain control of the overall situation in the Bitter Sea battlefield.
The lesser Demon God saw Ao Lie charging at him and dared not be negligent. He picked up his great hammer and, with all his might, charged headlong towards Ao Lie.
Boom!!!
After a world-shattering roar, both Ao Lie and the Demon God were sent flying backward. The moment they collided, Wan Lei, standing atop Ao Lie's head, burst forth and charged forward.
He had predicted the Demon God's trajectory after the collision. Upon reaching the Demon God's position from above, Wan Lei raised his Source Thunder Hammer and swooped down.
At this moment, Wan Lei was enveloped in crackling lightning. The Source Thunder Hammer had already accumulated immense lightning power. Before the Demon God could even stabilize himself, Wan Lei’s hammer struck down.
This blow landed squarely on the Demon God’s head.
The immense impact force and the explosive power of the lightning shattered one of the Demon God's horns. That side of his head was a bloody mess, caved in.
The Demon God’s head buzzed, and he nearly lost consciousness. Before he could regain clarity, Wan Lei’s relentless assault descended.
A series of fierce and brutal critical hits caused the Demon God, who had been at full strength moments ago, to sustain considerable injuries. His head was bleeding, his hands were injured, and his chest and abdomen had also been shaken.
This was the advantage of heavy weapons over swords and sabers. Swords and sabers dealt damage focused on a single point, whereas blunt weapons directly injured the internal organs.
Even on mortal battlefields, ordinary soldiers who suffered a cut or a stab wound had a good chance of survival with timely treatment and stitches. However, a blow from a hammer or a mace, even a glancing one, would typically result in internal bleeding and organ rupture, leading to certain death.
The demon race possessed robust bodies, making it difficult for ordinary weapons to pierce their defenses. Therefore, the soldiers of the positive realms predominantly wielded blunt weapons.
Although Wan Lei's continuous attacks did not inflict visible wounds, the Demon God was still severely injured.
"Villain!"
The Demon God roared, regaining his senses, and threw a punch at Wan Lei. Wan Lei immediately executed the Wind Blade遁术 (Dùnshù - escape technique), sidestepping the fist and striking the Demon God's wrist with a backhand punch.
This hurried blow, while not directly shattering the opponent's wrist, was enough to render him temporarily powerless.
The Demon God swung his great hammer wildly, smashing it towards Wan Lei. Wan Lei dodged and weaved, relying on his smaller size and speed to engage the Demon God in close-quarters combat. He was not at a disadvantage, and in fact, frequently managed to injure the Demon God.
Just as the Demon God was seething with rage, Ao Lie also charged forward. The ten-thousand-zhang dragon, carrying world-ending might, unleashed a blast of icy dragon breath from its maw. Immediately after, a dozen dragon scales from its neck flew off, hurtling towards the Demon God.
The icy dragon breath drastically reduced the Demon God's speed. The dragon scales, incredibly sharp, completely disregarded his physical defense, piercing deep into the Demon God's flesh like blades.
The Demon God writhed in agony, but Ao Lie, with ferocious might, rammed into him.
The intense pain stimulated the Demon God, greatly improving his movements. He swung his hammer, timing it perfectly, and sidestepped to Ao Lie's flank, delivering a powerful blow directly to Ao Lie's face.
Ao Lie let out a pained dragon roar and was sent flying backward, but he also managed to whip his tail, striking the Demon God.
With that sweeping tail attack, the Demon God's entire right arm was severed. He spat blood and was sent flying backward.
Having finally stabilized himself, the Demon God had no time to catch his breath before his peripheral vision caught sight of a blinding golden light erupting behind him.
Furthermore, the terrifying pressure and the intensely pure, yang energy that most effectively countered their demonic Yin energy made him feel as if his back were being pricked by needles.
He was familiar with this aura. He had encountered such beings before.
Buddhism.
He turned to look, and the scene before him sent shivers down his spine, as if he had fallen into an ice cave.
In front of him, a golden figure, a hundred zhang tall, clad in imposing armor, with a ferocious face, raised a golden great hammer tens of zhang long and brought it crashing down upon him.
Looking at the appearance of the Dharma form, it was difficult to associate it with the benevolent and compassionate Buddhist sect. However, the golden light was undeniably a Buddhist divine ability.
The Dharma form roared, carrying the Buddhist conviction of Great Compassion, and brought its hammer down with a thunderous crash, seeking to transcend the Demon God.
Physical transcendence was the most fatal.
"No!!!"
The Demon God was utterly horrified. It was too late to flee now. He could only drag his heavily injured body, muster all his strength, and swing his hammer to meet the Dharma form’s hammer.
Boom!!!
A world-shattering explosion followed. As the hammer descended, the Demon God’s great hammer shattered inch by inch. Then, his head exploded under the terrifying force.
The headless corpse of the Demon God fell, signaling the end of the battle.
Without the wrath of the Vajra, how could one know the compassion of the Bodhisattva?
This was the innate divine ability, the Vajra Dharma Form, bestowed upon Wan Lei by the Dragon-Elephant Prajna Scripture, the foremost Buddhist scripture.
This scripture not only helped Wan Lei guard his spiritual platform but also provided a qualitative leap in his physical strength and power when he unleashed it!
