Chapter 853: 853-Just One Cunning Idea.
Helanie:
As Kaye’s words sank in, I realized we were in serious trouble. There was no real way for us to defeat the curse. At least not Emmet’s curse.
"So, let me get this straight," Norman said, raising a finger as if he was trying to piece it together. "Even if Emmet kills Azura there, he’ll have to toss her body out here. When he does, the poison from his curse breaking will spread into the air, right?"
After he finished and watched our faces, we started nodding.
"And that’ll affect him too," he muttered. We all nodded again.
"What about our curses? Do you think our poisons are gone or not?" Norman asked and I shrugged sincerely.
"All I remember is that it takes a few days. How many? I have no idea," I admitted. There was no way we could find out, unless the brothers somehow convinced their mother to share more details with us.
"Okay, one of you needs to call your mother and tell her Emmet isn’t going to survive this curse," I insisted as there seemed to be no other way out now.
Reluctantly, Norman dialed her number and it seemed like she was sitting idle with the phone in her hand because she picked up the call instantly.
He put her on speaker.
"Wow. Isn’t it a miracle my son is calling me now?" she taunted, her voice filled with false sweetness.
"When a mother doesn’t remember her kids, the kids have to remember her," Norman sneered.
"How are you doing?" Norman asked, biting his bottom lip and rolling his eyes.
"It’s sad my children didn’t defend me," she complained.
It was infuriating. After she’d caused so much suffering, she acted like she wasn’t at fault and like she deserved to be saved. But we needed her help, so we bit our tongues.
"There was an incident here," Norman ignored her complaints. "The gray woman, remember? She came and tried to attack our children. She even tried to attack Emmet in his sleep."
"There is no way she would come to attack him." She scoffed loudly.
It wasn’t a mystery by then that she was working with that gray woman.
"We don’t attack anyone. We’re just trying to save people." She kept lying stubbornly.
"Yeah, whatever," Norman snapped, "but mother, she came here and she attacked our babies and Emmet." As he used a harsh tone this time, she went silent for a minute.
"Anyway, Helanie has decided to sacrifice herself," Norman uttered while letting out a deep sigh of stress. A loud gasp erupted from her side because this was probably not something she ever believed her sons would let me do.
"Wait, really?" she asked.
"Yeah. Since we couldn’t find Azura and her mother, which I’m pretty sure you knew about the gray woman and Azura being her mother, we had to do something to save Emmet. So Helanie has decided to sacrifice herself."
Norman was doing great, but I could tell it was hard for him to say all that about me.
"Really? Finally that girl realized all this could have been prevented if she had just shown a little empathy for everyone."
That bitch hated me so much that she instantly started spewing her joy at my suffering. She sounded like she could be dancing at that moment.
"Yeah, I don’t think we’ll ever be able to love anyone after her" Norman continued in a hushed tone.
"Oh, it’s okay. I know you’re upset that if she had done it earlier, at least you’d still have your other mates. But don’t worry, I know how to find you another fated mate." She sounded so eager to get rid of me.
Just because Norman was sharing with her, she probably thought she was pulling him into her schemes.
"Mom, I don’t want anything. I just want to know something. If Helanie dies in the dream world, and the curse is released into the air, it will poison Emmet, correct?" he asked. She went silent again.
"Yes, that is true." Even she sounded confused about how we’d go about it.
"Do you have any plans?" she asked.
Norman looked at me. I shrugged. We had no idea.
"We’ll think about it later. Just let me know, what about our curses? What if we bring him here to throw her body in the well? Then what if our curse poisons are also in the air? How many days will they stay in the air, that’s what I’m asking," he asked as he anxiously paced back and forth.
She paused as if pondering on something before she uttered, "Just one day will be enough. So probably by tomorrow or the next day, it will be fine."
"But tell me, how are you going to make him discard Helanie’s body?" she asked, sounding almost excited.
"We’ll probably carry Emmet to the well and just sleepily toss Helanie’s body," Norman rushed.
"Okay, bye, Mom." Norman ended the call and stared at me. She began to call him again but we had already gotten our information, we didn’t need to stay in contact with her anymore unless when we were arresting her.
"So, even if we can wait until the next day, the problem remains, how are we going to get him to discard the body? It’s not like we can carry him out of that room," Norman hissed, sighing tightly.
I turned my head to the side and looked at the gray woman. She was constantly chuckling in the faces of my friends, who were trying to remind her how awful she was.
That’s when something struck me. A smile started to appear on my lips.
"I have a plan," I said. Norman narrowed his eyes.
"I’m going to go there with that bitch. It’s high time we put her to use," I said, smiling widely.
"Wait! Are you sure, Helanie? That woman can be very cunning, and I wouldn’t want you to go there with her. For all I know, she could be convincing Emmet with her daughter that you and Maximus are evil. Do you really want to take that woman in there with you?" Kaye asked.
Norman squeezed my hand to get my attention. He kissed the back of it and patted my fingers.
"Please tell me you have a good plan," he urged, his eyes showing how scared he was for me.
"Trust me, guys. This time they have no idea what’s coming for them," I said, smiling.
"Just let me go. I’ll be fine," I said confidently, then walked out of the kitchen toward the gray woman. She had no clue what she was about to face.
