Chapter 3 The Brightest Star in the Sky

The wails of the bald man echoed in his ears. It took a few moments for the burly men to snap back to reality before they all rushed towards Yang Fei, shouting.

With one of his legs disabled, the bald man hadn't even seen how Yang Fei had made his move.

This time, however, the bald man saw it clearly.

One against seven, Yang Fei handled it with ease, not breaking a sweat.

His fists, legs, knees, and even elbows were all deadly weapons.

His subordinates, let alone resisting, screamed the moment they came into contact with Yang Fei. This wasn't a fight; it was a one-sided slaughter!

In just fifteen seconds, all seven burly men lay on the ground, clutching their legs and moaning in pain.

At this point, the bald man stopped shouting. He just stared with wide, round eyes, his face filled with fear as he looked at the man with the icy expression sitting before him.

Among his men, there were a few with martial arts backgrounds, yet none of them could withstand Yang Fei for even a single move.

This man, who exuded an imposing presence without anger, had become the embodiment of a devil in the bald man's eyes.

"Stop hitting, stop hitting! I'll talk, I'll talk! It was Mr. Liu, it was Mr. Liu who ordered us to lock up that little girl. He also sold the little girl... sold her to Mr. Peng. However, Mr. Peng hasn't arrived yet..."

As he spoke these words, the bald man's voice trembled, and he didn't dare to look Yang Feng in the eyes.

Upon hearing this, Ling Feng's killing intent intensified. He said, word by word, "Where is she?"

"She's... she's in a suite on the second floor!"

The bald man quickly pointed to the stairs on the second floor and then glared at the stunned waiter nearby, "What are you staring at, you idiot? Hurry up and bring out that little girl! Do you want me to die?"

"Oh, oh..."

The waiter had been scared stiff by the scene. Hearing this, he quickly nodded and ran towards the second floor.

*Thump!*

As soon as the waiter stepped onto the stairs, a muffled sound was heard. The waiter tumbled down the stairs like a ball.

"A bunch of useless trash! I keep you guys just to betray me?"

Before the words were even finished, a middle-aged man in a black suit with a full beard appeared at the top of the stairs, leading two burly men.

"Mr. Liu!"

Upon seeing the middle-aged man, the bald man's body trembled violently.

"Is that little loli your niece? And you are Ling Yan's younger brother who served in the army for ten years?"

Ignoring the bald man, the middle-aged man slowly sat down in the chair opposite Ling Feng and said unhurriedly, "Actually, I quite admire you. A poor soldier, not hiding to avoid trouble at a time like this, yet you dare to step out. Such courage is commendable."

"Stand up or kneel!"

Looking at the middle-aged man, a deep killing intent flashed in Ling Feng's eyes. "When I'm sitting, I'm not used to people sitting and talking to me."

"Heh heh, interesting. I've met arrogant people, but I haven't seen many as arrogant as you."

*Swish!*

As the middle-aged man finished speaking, the two burly men behind him nimbly pulled out their handguns, pointing the muzzles directly at Ling Feng's head.

The middle-aged man, named Liu Hong, was well-known in Hanjiang's underground circles and was considered a local boss.

Ling Feng's previous words had made him very uncomfortable.

Especially Ling Feng's gaze, which gave him a sense of unease.

Therefore, he was so eager to have his subordinates draw their guns, intending to suppress Ling Feng's aura.

"In all these years, there hasn't been a single person who dared to point a gun at my head and lived to tell the tale."

Ling Feng's icy words echoed in his ears, making Liu Hong's scalp tingle.

Ling Feng's voice seemed to possess a certain magic, a magic that penetrated to the bone marrow!

*Crack, crack!*

The next moment, before the two gunmen could react, Ling Feng's hands shot out, and with lightning speed, he easily twisted both of their wrists.

Then, Ling Feng grabbed each of them by the throat.

With two crisp cracks, their necks were crushed by his hands.

"You..."

Liu Hong could no longer sit still. These two men behind him were top bodyguards he had hired at a high price, and they had been instantly killed by this unassuming man.

What kind of existence was this?

He had kicked a steel plate!

Liu Hong reacted quickly. Realizing something was wrong, he turned to escape.

However, his movements were still a beat too slow.

Almost the moment he stood up, Ling Feng appeared before him like a phantom. With a wave of his hand, he grabbed Liu Hong's neck and lifted him over his head with one arm.

For a moment, Liu Hong felt his blood rush backwards, his breathing becoming more rapid, and his face turning purple.

"You dared to draw a gun in front of me. You have no need to live."

Ling Feng's eyes were filled with ferocity, and his tone made Liu Hong's blood run cold.

"Stop! Let him go, or I'll shoot!"

Just as Ling Feng was about to kill Liu Hong, a woman's voice suddenly boomed through the hall.

Then, a female police officer in uniform walked in, holding a gun with both hands, the muzzle pointed at Ling Feng.

Behind the female officer were four or five other police officers.

"He's killing people! This person is killing people!"

Normally, Liu Hong felt hostility towards the police, but now, he regarded the police as saviors, his legs kicking wildly in the air.

*Bang!*

Liu Hong's plea had no effect.

In front of the female officer, Ling Feng struck the back of his neck with his palm.

Liu Hong didn't even grunt. His eyelids rolled back, and he fainted.

"You dare..."

Tang Ru never dreamed that this "thug" would be so brazen, treating her as if she were invisible, and committing murder in front of her.

Tang Ru gritted her teeth and was about to fire when Ling Feng, like a phantom, vanished into thin air.

Along with him, Liu Hong, whom he held, also disappeared.

As for Yang Fei, who was standing nearby, he was long gone.

"Madness!"

Looking at the two corpses on the ground and the several people still moaning in pain, the female officer clenched her fists tightly. "Even if you escape to the ends of the earth, if I don't catch you, this thug, I, Tang Ru, am not worthy of being a police officer!"

Somewhere on the second floor, a little girl, her mouth gagged and bound tightly, sat huddled in a corner, hugging her knees and trembling.

She was Ling Yan's daughter, and Ling Feng's niece, Ling Xiaoran.

The sight of her parents' tragic deaths kept replaying in her mind, and she was terrified.

"Daddy, Mommy..."

Ling Xiaoran's eyes were red, and tears streamed down her face.

With both parents gone, she felt as if the sky had fallen, and her world had plunged into darkness.

The next second, the door opened, and two dark figures flashed inside.

Ling Xiaoran didn't even have time to react before her vision went black, and she fainted.

When she woke up, she found that she had left the room where she was imprisoned.

She rubbed her eyes and saw a crystal coffin on each side.

Opposite the two coffins, a man was kneeling, throwing paper money into a brazier.

"Who... who are you?"

Ling Xiaoran asked guardedly, her voice as small as a mosquito's.

"My name is Ling Feng," the man said softly.

Ling Xiaoran looked at Ling Feng with confusion. The name seemed unfamiliar, yet she felt like she had heard it somewhere before.

The man wasn't in a hurry and slowly said, "I have an older brother named Ling Yan."

"That's my dad."

Ling Xiaoran's courage grew slightly. She took half a step forward and timidly said, "Are... are you my uncle?"

Upon hearing the word "uncle," Ling Feng's heart jolted, and a surge of warmth flooded his chest. He turned to look at Ling Xiaoran and said softly, "Yes, I am your uncle."

Ling Xiaoran looked at the man before her, who resembled her father by seven-tenths. All her strength instantly collapsed.

She threw herself into Ling Feng's arms and began to cry uncontrollably.

Ling Feng reached out and embraced Ling Xiaoran, pulling his only living relative in this world tightly into his arms.

"Uncle, Xiaoran is so scared,呜呜..." Ling Xiaoran said, trembling.

The experiences of the past few days were too cruel and terrifying for a six-year-old girl!

"Don't be scared, don't be scared. Uncle will be here from now on, and no one will hurt you again," Ling Feng said softly, patting Ling Xiaoran's back to comfort her.

"Uncle, will Daddy and Mommy wake up?"

Ling Xiaoran asked, her eyes blinking through tears. She was too young to truly understand the meaning of death.

Ling Feng's body trembled as he recalled what his elder brother, Qin Yan, had told him when he was young.

He said softly, "If Xiaoran misses Mommy and Daddy, look up at the sky. The brightest star is Mommy and Daddy. They are always watching you from above, protecting you, and will never leave you."

"Mmm."

Ling Xiaoran nodded heavily and buried her little head in Ling Feng's embrace again, sobbing softly.

Soon, she fell asleep.

Ling Feng turned his head, his bloodshot eyes sweeping over Yang Fei, and he said coldly, "Bring that Liu Hong up here!"
