Chapter 189: Chapter 189: Boss Mo, Your Vigilant Wife Has Come Online! 1
She had already seen Bai Jiusi and found her to be nothing special. If Bai Jiusi could become the cinnabar mole in Mo Yinhe’s heart, then surely she could turn him into the Demon King in her own heart?
Lost in such whimsical thoughts, Si Mingjing felt the medicine take effect. Indeed, her body stopped aching, but she was also drained of all energy. She didn’t feel like moving at all, so she simply leaned against Mo Yinhe, closed her eyes, and drifted off to sleep before she knew it.
When the flying saucer returned to the island, Mo Yinhe didn’t wake her. He carried her directly to his suite and placed her on his bed. After tucking her in, Mo Yinhe went to have dinner with his sister.
During the meal, the siblings made small talk.
"Saw Si Lisao today and went all dreamy-eyed again?"
"Brother, how could I? I know what I’m doing. Don’t start lecturing me. Even if I like him, I won’t throw myself at him and play the losing game again," she retorted.
Mo Yinhe reached out and rubbed Ye Siyuan’s head twice. "That’s my sister. A woman must value herself. Look at Mingjing; I’ve been pursuing her, but she doesn’t give me the time of day. You should learn from her. The more valuable a woman behaves, the more a man wants to cherish her. Throwing yourself at someone just cheapens you."
Ye Siyuan rolled her eyes. "Brother, you sure sound proud. Weren’t you the one sulking in private because sister-in-law couldn’t remember you?"
Mo Yinhe remained unaffected and even took pride in it.
"I’m a man. If I can’t even handle this setback, how do I have any right to win a beauty’s heart? Remember, the more hardships a man endures to earn something, the more he’ll cherish it."
Ye Siyuan looked at him with contempt. "According to you, there’s no such thing as unconditional love in this world?"
"I’m only telling you this because you’re my sister. Otherwise, would I lie and tell you that men love without expecting anything in return?"
Mo Yinhe had a determined glint in his eyes. "I intend to get my reward in bed!"
Ye Siyuan was speechless.
She rolled her eyes again. "No wonder sister-in-law despises you."
After dinner, noticing the pretty pink roses blooming in a roadside flowerbed, Mo Yinhe stepped into it and picked a handful.
"Brother, that’s stealing," Ye Siyuan said, keeping watch for him.
"So what if it is? For these pink beauties to be stolen by Mo Yinhe is their good fortune," he claimed.
Mo Yinhe found a vase, filled it with fresh water, placed the flowers in it, and then took them to the hotel suite, setting them by Si Mingjing’s bed.
His Mingjing was asleep, sleeping soundly and sweetly. But surely she would be hungry when she woke up.
Since the food on the island was all seafood, Mo Yinhe decided to cook for Si Mingjing himself, preparing a pork rib and corn soup. The ingredients and kitchenware had been purchased from the supermarket by Fengjue when they went to buy painkillers. Mo Yinhe then cooked in the guest room.
As darkness fell, the entire guest room filled with the GURGLING of the rib soup, adding a touch of domestic warmth.
When Si Mingjing woke up, she was greeted by the aroma of the rib soup; it was tantalizing and made her mouth water. On the bedside table, several vibrant and dewy pink roses bloomed vigorously, petals layered upon petals, opening with abandon, exuding vitality and joy.
Si Mingjing smiled. The pink roses lifted her spirits.
She turned over and saw Mo Yinhe standing by the table. He held the stew pot’s lid in his left hand and a spoon in his right, tasting a spoonful of soup from the pot before adding a pinch of salt. He cut the figure of a domestic man.
Si Mingjing hadn’t expected that the distinguished Crown Prince Yinhe would cook in the room.
Wrapped in the blanket, Si Mingjing lay on the bed languidly, feeling an inexplicable sense of warmth.
Her movement startled Mo Yinhe.
"Awake?" he asked.
Si Mingjing didn’t want to move, but curious about what he was cooking, she swallowed and said, "It smells so good."
"Hungry?"
"How did you manage to move the kitchen into the room?"
"The island is full of sea people who are used to eating seafood. Besides seafood, there’s no other food here, and you can’t eat it."
What Mo Yinhe was making was a corn, spare ribs, and tofu skin soup. He ladled a bowlful and brought it to the bedside.
"Get up and have something to eat," he said.
The freshly served soup was very hot. Mo Yinhe blew on it for a while before bringing a spoonful to her lips.
Si Mingjing felt a bit embarrassed. "I can do it myself."
"Don’t move, the bowl is hot. You helped me win back my son and daughter today; can’t you even let me feed you a few sips of soup?"
Of course, she could accept that.
Si Mingjing propped two pillows behind her and leaned back, letting Mo Yinhe feed her spoonful by spoonful. Eating happily, Si Mingjing’s eyes curved into a smile.
"How is your cooking so good? You don’t normally have to cook at home, do you?"
Mo Yinhe joked, "My mom says a man who can’t cook definitely won’t get a wife in the future. He can skip his studies, but he must master this basic skill."
Si Mingjing thought to herself, Yeah right, as if I’d believe that. But the soup truly was delicious. After finishing one bowl, she wanted another.
The soft glow from the bedroom wall lamp was gentle and not at all glaring. The entire room was filled with the aroma of spare rib soup, creating an ambiance so warm and enchanting.
This lovely atmosphere was slightly ruined by a phone call from Qu Gaoyang.
Qu Gaoyang clamored over the phone, "Mo Yinhe, do you remember the bet we had five years ago? Come to the Underground City now, I’m waiting for you here!"
Five years ago, at the Four Nations Summit, with nothing better to do in the evening, Mo Yinhe had taken his kids to the Underground Casino for some fun. The Underground Casino was owned by Qu Gaoyang, and Mo Yinhe’s kids had almost cleaned out the entire place, proving even more formidable than a gambling king. Qu Gaoyang couldn’t stand the loss and had once declared, "Mo Yinhe, however badly my casino lost tonight, in five years, I will make you repay me double!"
At the time, Mo Yinhe had agreed, "I’m always ready."
But now, Mo Yinhe only had two words for him: "No time!"
Qu Gaoyang roared with laughter over the phone. "Mo Yinhe, you must be afraid of losing! Five years ago, you only won so much money from my casino because of Ajiu! Now that Ajiu is with me, you don’t dare to gamble. Mo Yinhe, I didn’t expect you to be such a sore loser."
"Say whatever you want."
He just wanted to feed his treasure now, to warm her stomach. Who had any interest in playing at Qu Gaoyang’s casino? Provocation was useless on him.
As Mo Yinhe was about to hang up, Qu Gaoyang dropped a fierce line, "Mo Yinhe, if you don’t dare to come tonight, from now on you’ll be my grandson! Call me grandpa!"
"What did you say to call you?" Mo Yinhe asked.
"Grandpa."
"Good boy~"
With that, Mo Yinhe hung up.
Knowing he had been played, Qu Gaoyang was furious, cursing resentfully as he sat in the casino.
"That grandson Mo Yinhe! Without Ajiu, he’s too scared to gamble now! Spread this story, and from now on, I’ll be his grandpa!"
Instantly, everyone in the Underground City began mocking him without restraint, and soon the story spread far and wide.
"’Mo Yinhe is a coward. Without Ajiu, he doesn’t even dare show his face.’ Qu Gaoyang laughed about this all night long, even calling Si Lisao to share the joke."
