Chapter 195: Chapter 195: Si Mingjing Regains His Memory! 2
Unwilling to accept defeat, Bai Jiusi decided to taunt Si Mingjing. "Miss Si, after helping Mo Yinhe snatch my son and daughter, are you that desperate to become their stepmother?"
"I heard your father cheated during his marriage and got you a stepmother. Like father, like daughter, indeed. Your mother, in heaven, must truly understand how I feel right now. She’s watching you!"
Si Mingjing’s complexion instantly turned deathly pale.
Seeing her reaction, Bai Jiusi knew she’d struck a nerve. She sneered, "So eager to be my children’s stepmother? You’re despicably shameless!"
With a loud SNAP!
Si Lisao, who was next to them saying goodbye to Feng Chonghua, backhanded Bai Jiusi across the face, sending stars bursting in her vision.
Bai Jiusi was completely stunned.
Everyone else, who was simply making their polite farewells, fell into a sudden silence, looking puzzled at Si Lisao.
Qu Gaoyang was the most bewildered. "Crown Prince Lisao, why did you hit Ajiu?"
Tears immediately tumbled from Bai Jiusi’s eyes. Her left cheek throbbed with a fiery pain. She wanted to complain but didn’t dare.
Si Lisao said nothing. He glanced at Bai Jiusi, then at Si Mingjing, before striding away, his aura imposing.
His reaction had been instinctual. Hearing Bai Jiusi insult Si Mingjing had ignited a rage in him, making him strike swiftly and fiercely. Even after, he was surprised by his own fury. Why so angry? Si Mingjing was Mo Yinhe’s woman. He should have approved of Bai Jiusi humiliating her. Yet, deep down, he couldn’t bear to see Si Mingjing suffer! It definitely wasn’t love at first sight! Si Lisao had long dismissed such an absurd notion. In this world, if anyone’s suffering could enrage him so, it could only be his missing sister! He had Bai Qingshui pose as Ajiu, firstly, due to the need for a political alliance, and secondly, because he’d heard rumors that the real Ajiu might have returned. He wanted to use this to force her out of hiding! He’d also wondered if Si Mingjing could be Ajiu. Clearly, not! If she were Ajiu, she couldn’t possibly feign ignorance of him. If she were Ajiu, then during the custody dispute, Mo Yinhe wouldn’t have just asked for one son and one daughter; he would have demanded all the children back! Besides, even if his Ajiu had returned, her appearance shouldn’t have changed. Based on this reasoning, Si Lisao dismissed the possibility of Si Mingjing being Ajiu. But... could his judgment be flawed?
After boarding the plane, Si Lisao called Sheng Liuyun and said curtly, "Send Liangliang to the Ye Family."
Sheng Liuyun exploded on the other end. "You fight with Mo Yinhe, get thoroughly trounced by him, fail to get Xiaobai, and now you want me to hand over Liangliang! I’m telling you, no way in hell! Liangliang is my precious little darling; whoever tries to take her, I’ll dig up their ancestors’ graves!"
"Don’t make me repeat myself, or you know the consequences."
Sheng Liuyun was livid and started arguing with Si Lisao. "Si Lisao, are you doing this on purpose? Just because you didn’t get any children, so no one calls you ’Uncle’! You were always trying to get Xiaobai, and now that you’ve failed, you want to make sure no one calls me ’Uncle’ either! You’re just envious and spiteful, deliberately trying to sabotage me, aren’t you?"
"Blame yourself for not watching Liangliang properly and exposing her!"
Si Lisao’s tone was calm but carried an unspoken threat. "Send Liangliang to infiltrate the Ye Family. I need to find out exactly who this Si Mingjing is!"
With that, Si Lisao hung up.
Down below, Bai Jiusi, still reeling from Si Lisao’s slap, cried from the pain. She didn’t dare vent her fury on Si Lisao, who had already departed, so she redirected it to Si Mingjing. "Si Mingjing, just you wait!"
Ye Siyuan stepped in front of Si Mingjing, glaring at Bai Jiusi. "Wasn’t that slap painful enough for you?!"
Bai Jiusi’s words were too cruel! Ye Siyuan trembled with rage.
Xiaobai and Liangliang are clearly Sister-in-law’s own children, yet this imposter is using them to attack her! It’s infuriating! If only Sister-in-law could regain her memory!
Ye Siyuan clutched Si Mingjing’s hand. "Mingjing, don’t listen to her nonsense! Let’s board the plane."
Si Mingjing pressed her lips together, saying nothing. Bai Jiusi’s words were too cruel; she couldn’t bear them. She had come to this island merely to clear Ye Shen’s name. Helping Mo Yinhe win custody had been almost an afterthought. But Bai Jiusi’s words stuck in her throat like a fishbone. She couldn’t dismiss those heart-wrenching accusations, and her spirits plummeted.
After boarding the plane, Si Mingjing sat by the window, gazing at the scenery, unwilling to utter a word. She refused to let Mo Yinhe sit beside her. It was Mo Yinhe who had caused her such humiliation. He insisted on sitting next to her, but before he could speak, she pulled a blanket over her face, shutting down any attempt at conversation. No amount of talk could improve her mood. She reclined her seat and closed her eyes, hoping to sleep. Once the plane was airborne, she kept the blanket over her face, steadfastly avoiding any interaction.
In a daze, she fell into a dream.
In her dream, no clear objects were visible. Everything was shrouded in a dense white fog. No matter how far she walked, she couldn’t find an end or see anything beyond it. The endless white mist seemed to want to swallow her whole. Her heart pounded. As she walked, she began to run, sprinting relentlessly in one direction. She refused to believe she couldn’t break free of the fog!
Finally, just as she was utterly exhausted, a figure appeared ahead. Si Mingjing was overjoyed and tried to catch up. Being lost alone in the white fog was terrifyingly unsettling; the moment she saw the figure, her heart steadied. "Hey, wait for me..." she called, chasing after it. The figure grew clearer: a tall, imposing man.
"Wait for me!" Si Mingjing kept shouting.
The man actually stopped, turned, and looked at her.
She saw his face clearly.
Mo Yinhe? Why him again?
The man opened his arms, as if waiting for her to fall into his embrace.
Si Mingjing skidded to a halt, biting her lower lip, unwilling. This man had humiliated her so badly today, and now he was even invading her dreams! How infuriating!
"Mingjing," Mo Yinhe called her name.
Si Mingjing ignored him.
"Mingjing, come here."
"I don’t want to!" she huffed.
At that, the man started walking towards her. Though only a dozen paces separated them and his strides were large, the more he walked, the farther apart they seemed to become, his tall figure growing increasingly blurry.
"Mingjing, go reclaim your memories."
"What do you mean?" she asked, waiting for him to elaborate.
But Mo Yinhe’s figure grew even more indistinct. "Go find Chen Fengdu. Ask him to return our memories."
