Chapter 202 Zombies Outside Dragon City

As Lu Heng controlled the saber-toothed beast to approach Dragon City, he watched its massive form rapidly close in. Soldiers and ability users on the city walls mistook it for another mutant beast attacking alongside the zombies.

However, they were already exhausted. Ability users who had depleted their energy could only sigh, "Heaven is going to destroy us."

The soldiers manning the heavy machine guns on the walls had run out of ammunition. After resisting all night, their limited supply was gone.

Fortunately, the reinforcements had brought Lin Yu back. Lin Yu controlled his abilities to clear the zombie corpses piled below, alleviating the crisis at the city walls.

Landing on the city wall, Lu Heng dismounted from the saber-to-othed beast. The ability users who had been cautiously surrounding Lu Heng and his companions finally saw the situation clearly.

Seeing someone dismount from the saber-toothed beast, everyone's suspended hearts finally relaxed. If this mutant beast could be controlled by someone, it meant this person was likely here to aid Dragon City.

Lu Heng surveyed the surrounding soldiers and ability users. Dragon City's situation was much worse than Ping City's.

Perhaps this base had not encountered the anomaly of Lu Heng's rebirth. Most of the survivors in the city were still in a passive state, just like in the apocalypse of his previous life.

The effort to clear zombies around the base was almost nonexistent. Everyone only ventured out to fight zombies out of necessity for supplies.

This resulted in ability users making up only half of the survivors in the entire base, and their levels were generally low. Most were around the third tier, with leaders of a few ability teams barely reaching the fourth or fifth tier.

Soon, Lin Yu also arrived beside Lu Heng.

The director, who was with Lin Yu, had already informed him when Lu Heng approached.

"Brother Lu, the situation here isn't good. There are too many zombies outside, and more are continuously gathering this way," Lin Yu said to Lu Heng with some anxiety.

"Mmm, I saw it when I arrived. This Dragon City is quite useless, much worse than Ping City."

Looking down at the zombies, Lu Heng waved his hand, gathering wind-elemental abilities into several tornadoes that circled the city walls, immediately resolving the base's crisis.

The soldiers and ability users, seeing that they were safe and no zombies could approach, slumped down to rest, catching their breath.

"What about the rest?"

"I've arranged for reinforcements to come, but we must find the high-level zombie directing them below."

Lu Heng said nonchalantly, looking at the zombies still gathering in the distance.

"You guard the city walls. I'll go find it."

Lu Heng glanced at the city walls below again and waved his hand, creating a thick ice wall outside them.

These zombies were already afraid of the cold. With this smooth ice wall, it would be difficult for the zombies to pile up corpses to climb the city walls.

"You don't need to send people out to fight. Once our people arrive, the zombies below will be no match for us."

"Okay, Brother Lu, be careful." Although Lu Heng was no longer afraid of any zombies in this world and could move freely, Lin Yu still felt an involuntary urge to care for him.

"How about I leave Lu Bai with you for company?" Lu Heng asked with a smile, looking at the director at Lin Yu's feet.

"Sure, but what does he look like now?" the director asked Lu Heng via telepathy.

"What do you want him to look like?"

"A fox, perhaps. It would make a good pair with me."

This is crossing species boundaries.

However, Lu Heng still summoned Lu Bai in the form of a fox. After all, creating a living person out of thin air would be too unbelievable, but if it were an animal, people might accept it more easily.

"Meow." The director walked up to Lu Bai and rubbed against the fur on Lu Bai's neck.

"Ying ying ying." Lu Bai jumped away instantly, shaking his snow-white fur.

"This is not the time for you two to be sulking. Stay by Lin Yu's side properly." Lu Heng turned and got back on the saber-toothed beast's back, then retracted the wind-elemental abilities outside the city.

With the ice wall protecting the city, it was enough to hold until the external reinforcements arrived.

Under the gaze of everyone on the city wall, Lu Heng and the saber-toothed beast quickly disappeared into the sky.

Lin Chongshan, who had been standing beside Lin Yu without speaking, murmured in the direction Lu Heng had disappeared, "Son, what is your relationship with City Lord Lu?"

High in the sky, Lu Heng summoned Lin Xue from his space again. After Lin Xue was seated securely, Lu Heng asked again, "Sense it again. See which direction the high-level zombie is in."

Lin Xue nodded. Its gray-white eyes lacked any life. It stared into the distance, entering a state of contemplation.

The saber-toothed beast carried Lu Heng and the others, searching in the main direction of the zombie horde. Lu Heng watched the situation of the zombies below while also observing Lin Xue's reactions.

After a while, Lin Xue still gave no indication.

"Is it difficult to find this time?" Lu Heng finally couldn't help but ask.

"Those below are all level five or six. There are no higher-level zombies," Lin Xue habitually shook its head and communicated with Lu Heng via telepathy.

"Then let's search at the source where these zombies are gathering."

Choosing a direction with a larger number of zombies, Lu Heng directed the saber-toothed beast to fly there.

Along the way, Lin Xue remained silent, but Lu Heng knew it was constantly sensing the situation of the nearby zombies.

However, what surprised Lu Heng this time was that Lin Xue gave no indication even when they reached a larger town. This meant their path was wrong.

The saber-toothed beast circled above the town with them. Lu Heng looked down at the zombies below and fell into thought.

Zombies were still continuously surging out of the town. It appeared the zombie leader hiding in the dark was still controlling them.

But if this commanding zombie wasn't residing in a densely populated zombie town, the possibility of it hiding in a remote small place wasn't high either.

"Master, shall we try looking elsewhere?" The saber-toothed beast knew its master was searching for something among the zombies below, but it couldn't understand what exactly he was looking for.

Lu Heng glanced at Lin Xue beside him again. Seeing no reaction, he said to the saber-toothed beast, "Go to the path they are moving along. When I tell you to stop, find a suitable spot to let me down."

The saber-toothed beast responded via telepathy, then changed direction and flew back along the path they came from.

Soon, Lu Heng shouted to stop the saber-toothed beast in mid-air. He temporarily recalled Lin Xue into his space, and Lu Heng controlled vines to slide down to the ground from the beast's seat.
