Chapter 214 Viewing the Underground Base

Lu Heng and Lin Yu began to explore the spacious underground area after dragging all the recently killed zombie corpses into the tunnel.

Taking out more searchlights, they hung them high in various places using vines, illuminating the entire space considerably.

"Let's find the power control here first. The tunnel had power, which means there should be an electrical system. The searchlights I brought won't last too long."

"Okay," Lin Yu replied, also quickly searching.

Soon, Lu Heng and the others had searched the entire perimeter but found no power switches.

They did, however, find some human skeletons. Lu Heng and the others dragged them into the tunnel with vines, piling them with the zombie corpses.

"I'll go check those rooms," Lin Yu said, pointing to the buildings not far away.

"Okay, let's go together," Lu Heng said, worried about any potential surprises in the rooms and preferring to stay close to Lin Yu.

"No need, Lu Ge. If you do that, I'll feel like a child who can't grow up."

"Alright, I'll go check those places that look like warehouses. Be careful yourself, it would be troublesome if Lin Xue missed anything."

"Okay."

With a reply, Lin Yu walked towards the buildings.

Lu Heng glanced at Lin Yu's retreating back, then turned and walked towards the sheds he had just seen.

Approaching the sheds, Lu Heng controlled the vines to shine a searchlight into one of them.

Inside the shed, many steel frames were arranged, covered with tarps. Lu Heng couldn't see the items underneath immediately.

He reached out and waved towards the tarps on the frames. The vines that had spread on the ground instantly grew taller, like human hands, pulling down the tarps.

Neatly stacked wooden crates were piled on the frames. Lu Heng controlled the vines to bring a crate to him. The vines nimbly opened the wooden crate, and the contents were clearly exposed under the searchlight.

Inside the crates were neatly arranged bullets. Judging by their caliber, they were for some heavy weaponry.

This was the military supplies Lu Heng was looking for. He then controlled the vines to open several boxes in different locations.

One box even contained a whole case of grenades. The smile on Lu Heng's lips widened. He didn't need to worry about the models of the firearms inside; the retired soldiers would be able to identify them once they were brought back.

With a wave of his hand, Lu Heng collected everything in the shed, including the shelves, into his space.

He wasn't worried about any zombies being collected into his space. After contracting Lin Xue, Lu Heng had tested it with a zombie. Those "living" zombies were considered living creatures by his space. As long as they weren't contracted by Lu Heng, even zombies couldn't enter his space.

Looking at the empty shed, Lu Heng really wanted to collect the sheds themselves into his space. He checked the surroundings of the sheds and found that they were fixed to the ground with expansion bolts. If he could loosen these bolts, collecting the sheds and taking them back would be ideal.

Lu Heng didn't want to waste any resources that could be taken. Although this place could serve as a refuge for humans in the future, Lu Heng didn't plan to move here. He couldn't just leave such good things to gather dust.

Lu Heng once again controlled the vines to pull the bolts out of the ground. Seeing that the sheds were completely detached from the ground, Lu Heng collected the sheds into his space.

Outside the city in his space, Lu Heng made new plans. Since no one could enter the houses in his space, Lu Heng compressed all the houses together, freeing up a large amount of open space for storing the supplies he brought from outside.

After collecting one shed and its contents, Lu Heng was about to move to the next shed to continue when, as he stepped in front of the shed, the entire underground space suddenly lit up.

He turned to look in Lin Yu's direction, guessing that he had found the power control.

Indeed, after a while, Lin Yu ran out of a building and shouted excitedly from the platform outside the building, his voice echoing particularly loudly in the empty cavern, "Lu Ge, I found a central control room and a monitoring system, and they're still working!"

"Good, then see if there's a device to control the main gate. But don't touch the gate switch for now; let's wait until we've completely explored everything."

Some areas had not yet been explored. Although Lin Xue had said there were no more zombies in this space, who knew how many more passages and exits there were? It would be troublesome if Lin Yu accidentally opened other gates and let zombies in.

"Got it."

Seeing Lin Yu run back into the building, Lu Heng then looked at the shed in front of him.

With the lighting of the entire underground space turned on, combined with the searchlights he had set up, the cavern was now exceptionally bright.

Looking around inside and outside the shed, Lu Heng found a skeleton behind the shed. It was also just a skeleton, but the military uniform outside was still intact.

The skull also had a hole in it, indicating either suicide or being shot by another human. He controlled the vines to drag the skeleton into the tunnel outside.

It seemed he still needed to check carefully when collecting things. Lu Heng didn't want to collect these lifeless remains into his space.

Lu Heng continued to control the vines to remove the shed's connections to the ground, then collected the inspected shed and its contents into his space.

Six large warehouse-like sheds in a row were filled with various ammunition and weapons.

Lu Heng even found the heavy machine guns installed on their city walls. These were good things; at this time after the apocalypse, these weapons were still very useful.

After collecting all the supplies from this area, Lu Heng moved to a place where various vehicles were parked.

Many large engineering vehicles were stored here, and there was also a warehouse that seemed to store tools and parts for vehicle repair.

Lu Heng carefully checked for any human skeletons, then detached the warehouses from the ground and collected them all in one go.

Fortunately, these warehouses were all steel structures, fixed to the solidified concrete ground with various rivets.

If these warehouses were directly built of concrete, Lu Heng wouldn't have been able to collect them into his space.

As Lu Heng frantically collected supplies, he occasionally saw scattered human skeletons in some places. Lu Heng controlled the vines to clear all the skeletons he saw into the tunnel outside.

"Lu Ge, come and look at this." Lin Yu's voice sounded again.

Lu Heng turned to look in the direction of the voice. He saw Lin Yu excitedly waving his hands, and he seemed to be holding a notebook.
