Lost in a daze, Lu Heng felt a lightness beneath him.
He gradually opened his eyes and looked at the scenery around him. He was now in a pavilion, its sides covered with light gauze that fluttered with the breeze.
Shifting his gaze, he saw that beneath him was a long couch. He was lying on his side, but the couch was exceptionally soft, giving him that floating sensation.
Beside the couch was a delicate small table. The table appeared to be made of wood, decorated with many swirling clouds and flowers. However, Lu Heng felt that the depicted swirling clouds seemed to float within the painting, as if they were actual clouds.
On the small table were also three fruit platters. He couldn't identify the material of the platters, nor did he recognize any of the fruits placed within them.
Extending his arm, Lu Heng reached out towards the swirling clouds depicted on the table, wanting to see if they were as he imagined.
But the moment his arm stretched out, he froze.
The arm that had extended with his intention was now incredibly smooth. The skin on his arm was more delicate than any woman's he had seen before the apocalypse. His hand, reaching forward, had clearly defined knuckles, and each of his slender fingers seemed to have been meticulously polished, emitting a soft glow under the sunlight.
"This isn't my hand."
Lu Heng was certain. In the apocalypse, although his skin had improved after contracting with Lin Xue, all his scars had vanished, and his skin had become much smoother.
But the skin on the arm he extended was too delicate, as if it had been meticulously cared for daily. He couldn't even see the tiny pores.
He sprang up, Lu Heng looked down at his clothes. They were all in an ancient style, but the fabric felt weightless on him.
Moreover, when the fabric touched his skin, the temperature of the cloth seemed to match his skin temperature, as if the clothes were a part of his body.
When he had looked at the long couch below earlier, Lu Heng hadn't paid much attention, thinking it was attire from the Divine Origin Continent. But now, he felt that everything was strange.
Reaching out to touch his cheek, the sensation that returned confirmed to Lu Heng that his face was still his own, though the skin felt incredibly smooth.
Just as he was about to find a mirror to examine himself, he suddenly heard the sound of many footsteps outside the pavilion.
Although the footsteps were very light, Lu Heng still heard them.
Startled, Lu Heng opened his eyes again. He was back in his apartment, lying on his bed, his grown hair spread out beneath him.
"Why am I having strange dreams again?"
He looked at his arm. There were many fine hairs on his forearm now, unlike the smooth arm he had just seen.
Dropping his arm, he covered his eyes and closed them, recalling the brief scene.
Although the dream fragment was short, it felt too real, as if his soul had possessed someone else's body.
Could he have soul-transmigrated?
But why had he returned to the real world?
His arm fell limply to his side, and Lu Heng opened his eyes again, looking at the ceiling.
He decided not to dwell on it. He needed to check the time and find some military supplies. The city's stock of heavy weapon ammunition was running low.
After washing up, Lu Heng changed into casual sportswear and emerged from his space.
The clock in the residential area outside showed it was past eight in the morning. He first went to the planned airfield, where people were already working in an orderly fashion.
The clearing was quite extensive. Judging by the length of the runway, it seemed that transport planes could take off and land without issue.
Beside the runway, there was also a spacious area. The ground connected to the runway, which was likely where the planes would be stored.
Lu Heng looked from a distance and saw Lin Yu gesturing and talking to some people at the airfield.
Riding an off-road motorcycle, Lu Heng sped towards Lin Yu.
"Brother Lu, you're here. This airfield is ready. They've also marked out the runway," Lin Yu said, looking up as they heard the motorcycle and Lu Heng approached.
"City Lord Lu, hello." Zhao Youcheng and others accompanying Lin Yu saluted Lu Heng respectfully.
"Yes, I'll bring out the planes. Oh, and there are a few that can't fly; they're missing some parts. Find some storage rings for these, and we can use them for spare parts for other planes later," Lu Heng nodded to everyone and then said to Lin Yu.
"Okay, I plan to set up another warehouse there. We'll keep some commonly used parts there."
"Yes, make the warehouse large. When planes need repairs, we can move them inside. If it rains, the planes won't be fixed quickly."
Lin Yu nodded and noted down Lu Heng's words in his notebook.
Lu Heng rode his motorcycle to the side of the airfield and, with a wave of his hand, placed all the flyable planes from his space on one side of the open ground.
The non-flyable planes were placed on the other side. He rummaged through his space and found a storage accessory with the largest capacity, then returned to Lin Yu and handed it to him.
"Don't bother looking for one. This one stores more. Take it and put away those planes."
"Also, you can arrange for them to do this. I'm planning to go out for a bit now. Do you want to come?"
"Leave now? Then I'll make some arrangements." Lin Yu knew what Lu Heng was referring to but hadn't expected him to leave today.
"The ammunition for the heavy weapons on our city gates is running low, right? We should hurry and find some. I see that Dragon City and Peace City also seem to have used up their bullet supplies this time."
Lin Yu turned and instructed Zhao Youcheng beside him, "In the coming days, crew members from Dragon City and Peace City might come to deliver transport planes. Assign our people to learn alongside them, understand the performance of these planes, and also arrange for some military personnel to learn aircraft repair."
Zhao Youcheng nodded to Lin Yu, "Okay, I'll arrange for people to do this. Don't worry, you go out with City Lord Lu. We'll watch over Nameless City."
Lin Yu nodded in agreement. Many affairs of Nameless City had already fallen into place, especially city defense.
And Nameless City had stopped accepting new members from outside before winter. Many survivors who had arrived were escorted by the people of Nameless City to settle in Peace City.
Putting the off-road motorcycle back into his space, Lu Heng released a camel-like creature on the open ground of the runway. The two of them mounted its back and left Nameless City.
