Chapter 14 Awakening of Powers

Driving according to the map index, Lu Heng took a few detours to reach the warehouse center.

This warehouse center was located on the outskirts of the city. Lu Heng had previously studied the city's layout and routes in detail on the map, so this trip, despite the detours, did not take too much time.

At this moment, the entire city was still shrouded in darkness. Apart from the occasional streetlights along the road, the suburbs were eerily quiet.

Lu Heng parked his car outside the main gate of the warehouse center. The outer iron gate was open because delivery vehicles still entered and exited, but no one was on duty at the moment.

Lu Heng drove smoothly towards the warehouses of the center. The areas near the warehouses were brightly lit, presumably for the illumination of delivery vehicles.

The loud noise of the car on the road attracted some zombies. Lu Heng estimated there were dozens of them.

Judging by their clothing, they appeared to be workers who worked here and drivers transporting goods.

Lu Heng accelerated and drove towards the group of zombies. Fortunately, the car's performance was good, and it bumped into and ran over the zombies without any obstruction.

After a few rounds, Lu Heng gradually crushed all the zombies. Fearing that there might be more zombies nearby that hadn't appeared yet, Lu Heng drove around the vicinity a few more times.

After more than ten minutes, only two zombies were seen sporadically from the initial group, and then no more zombies appeared.

Lu Heng got out of the car and quickly used his long saber to collect the crystals from the zombies' brains. In a short while, he had collected over twenty.

Lu Heng continued to collect and consume them. He quickly ate nineteen crystals. Fearing that he might be slow to react and attacked by zombies if he experienced a headache later, Lu Heng put the remaining crystals into his spatial storage.

After collecting all the crystals, Lu Heng returned to the car and locked the doors.

Then, he took out a crystal and ate it. Shortly after, a surge of heat erupted within him, followed by a sharp pain in his head, as if something had suddenly appeared in his brain.

A few minutes later, Lu Heng felt a crystal in his own brain, similar to those found in zombie brains.

However, the shape of the crystals in human brains differed from those in zombie brains, making it easy to distinguish their origins.

The crystals in zombie brains were triangular. The crystals that appeared in human brains after evolution were pentagonal. As for the crystals in the brains of low-level mutated animals, they were of various irregular shapes, but never triangular or pentagonal.

When all the crystals were exposed to the air, they all emitted a faint glow that everyone could see.

However, Lu Heng could not perceive the specific function of the crystal in his own brain at the moment.

Logically, after people evolved and mutated, they would naturally know what abilities they possessed. But at this moment, Lu Heng could not sense anything.

"Oh well," he thought, "since I've advanced to a first-tier ability user, I won't worry about it for now. As long as I've advanced, my physical abilities alone are vastly different from ordinary people. Even fighting dozens of zombies simultaneously should not be a problem for me now."

Driving his car, Lu Heng arrived at the cold storage area of the warehouse center. This was where various foods were stored. After all, food had a shelf life, and many foods were stored according to different timeframes.

Lu Heng's spatial storage had a preservation function. Whatever state things were in when put in, they would remain in that state when taken out. Therefore, he had no worries about frozen items spoiling when stored.

The cold storage doors were equipped with electronic locks, and Lu Heng did not know their passwords. He was afraid that his saber might not be sturdy enough to cut through them, and if it got nicked, he would have to replace it.

Not wanting to bother with changing his saber, Lu Heng took out a gun from his spatial storage. He decided to blast the door open.

Lu Heng raised the shotgun he was holding, took a few steps back, aimed at the door lock, and pulled the trigger.

With the sound of the gunshot, the cold storage door lock was blown apart. Lu Heng grabbed the cold storage door and pulled it outwards, opening it with ease.

"Indeed, my strength has increased."

Lu Heng walked a few steps into the cold storage and saw shelves full of frozen aquatic products.

There were all sorts of seafood, such as large prawns, frozen sea crabs, hairtail fish, yellow croakers...

With a wave of his hand, he replicated the process and cleared out the entire shelves.

Then, Lu Heng walked towards the second cold storage door.

Inside were rows upon rows of various raw meats.

Beef, pork, lamb, chicken...

"Huh? Why are there frog legs here?"

"It's so complete, I'll take it all."

The next warehouse.

"Oh, looking at the temperature display outside the warehouse, it's minus ten degrees Celsius."

"What is this for?"

He continued to blast the door locks.

"Heh, inside is a warehouse full of various green teas."

"Could these all be new teas from before the Qingming Festival?"

"What a coincidence."

The next one...

Soon, Lu Heng had gone through the entire cold storage area, collecting all sorts of vegetables, meats, and other items into his spatial storage.

Back in the car, Lu Heng drove to other nearby warehouse buildings.

These were no longer cold storage, so the items stored inside were likely not perishable.

Lu Heng opened the warehouse doors one by one.

"Ah, there are quite a few things in here too."

After checking a few warehouses, Lu Heng collected everything into his spatial storage.

The items in these warehouses were also very useful. There were various types of lumber, all raw timber, with over twenty thousand tons of rosewood alone.

The warehouses also contained various vehicle parts, e-commerce transit items, various household appliances, and many foreign trade import and export goods.

In one warehouse, Lu Heng also found a lot of red wine. Judging by the labels on the large barrels, they were likely imported and intended for domestic bottling.

Without hesitation, Lu Heng's spatial storage had plenty of room. By noon, the entire warehouse center had been emptied by him.

He just didn't see any grain. He assumed grains were stored in specialized granaries, as they had higher storage requirements.

Satisfied, Lu Heng drove away, humming a tune.

On the road, Lu Heng pondered what to do next. He had been out for half a day, and it wasn't appropriate to go back now. He decided to look for places with dense populations to kill zombies.

The supplies in his spatial storage were inexhaustible, and he had just "shopped" for several warehouses for free in half a day. Lu Heng had no more interest in searching for supplies.

However, as he drove towards the city, another thought occurred to him: should he go to the largest police station? After all, having weapons in his own hands was safer.

Having set his target, Lu Heng began driving towards the largest police station with purpose. He estimated that ordinary police stations wouldn't have many weapons. Even if others found a few, the ammunition was limited, and guns without bullets were just lumps of iron, less effective than a steel rod.

In the car, Lu Heng took out a few more meat buns and ate them as he drove.

Don't ask why he always ate buns.

Besides being delicious, it was also convenient.
