Chapter 42 Reforming the Villa

Inside the villa.

The black bear had already adapted to its sudden change of location. It knew that its owner had summoned it, so the black bear reappeared in a bedroom on the third floor.

Holding a rag, the black bear cautiously glanced at Lu Heng. When it had returned to the space earlier, it had seen other pets gathered in a room watching a movie.

It was supposed to be one of them, but after being summoned by its owner, it realized that only it was summoned to do manual labor. The other pets were still watching the movie peacefully, and none of them had noticed its absence.

The black bear asked, "Why am I the only one cleaning?"

Lu Heng replied, "Their paws are not suitable for holding rags."

The black bear silently lowered its head and looked at its own paws. Ah! Why was it the only one standing?

Gripping the rag, the black bear began to clean diligently, imitating humans. Watching too many movies had its drawbacks.

It first soaked the rag and then started wiping down each room.

After nearly an hour of effort, the black bear quickly wiped down the entire third floor. Of course, Lu Heng cleaned the stairs himself, as he was afraid the black bear's weight would collapse them.

Bringing the black bear down to the second floor again, the black bear silently wiped away its tears and worked hard. It would be able to eat soon.

Lu Heng stayed on the third floor. He found a set of luxurious furniture from the space and placed various household items. He didn't like others to visit his own bedroom, so it didn't matter if the items here were placed nicely.

Although he was the only one living here now, he didn't plan to leave the other rooms empty. However, the furniture in those rooms didn't need to be too good; simple particleboard furniture would suffice, as he had just moved in the particleboard.

The second floor was the same. After the black bear cleaned the rooms, he also placed particleboard furniture in them.

He didn't place anything on the first floor, only a simple assembled sofa and a large mattress. This area could be used as a lounge for the pets, and when Lu Heng was away, he could arrange for a few of them to guard the house here.

With seventh-tier mutated animals, it was unlikely anyone could steal his house when he was away.

After finishing everything, Lu Heng glanced at his watch. Four hours had passed. He took the black bear, who was too tired to stand upright, back into the space.

He gave the black bear an extra meal today; it ate a portion of fresh meat soaked in ancient well water by itself.

The black bear first drank half a basin of ancient well water before feeling alive again. Amidst the envious gazes of the other pets, the black bear slowly ate the fresh meat in front of it.

In the evening, Lu Heng was worried that someone might cause trouble at the villa. Although fighting was not allowed within the base, this was his first day here, and it was possible that some desperate individuals might come to test him.

Therefore, Lu Heng decided to rest outside the space tonight.

After bathing in the space, Lu Heng, wearing pajamas, returned to the villa to rest.

In the evening, he placed pets on each floor. He put Fat Tiger and Director on the third floor, the Siberian tiger on the second floor, and the black panther and leopard on the first floor.

Fat Tiger had some objections to this arrangement. In the past few days, it had established a good friendship with the Siberian tiger. The two were always together, and they had never been separated like this since they were both contracted.

And why did it have to sleep with that orange cat?

It was so small and always bossed it around.

White Tiger raised an objection, wanting Lu Heng to swap Director and the Siberian tiger.

Lu Heng glanced at it. How could he swap them?

Director sometimes slept even more soundly than he did. If it were just him and Director on this floor, he wouldn't even know if someone carried him out.

"No, just make do for tonight. I'll reinforce the house with some protection tomorrow."

...

After dawn.

The night passed without incident. After breakfast, Lu Heng left the villa. Although he had steel bars, fences, and other items in his space, those things took up too much room, and he couldn't move them all out of the RV; it would look too fake.

He planned to go to the villa sales office to inquire about fencing off the open area outside the villa by spending crystal shards and hiring people.

As for the solar panels to be installed on the roof, he also had them in his space. He didn't want to do it all himself; he could just take those items out of the space and then find someone to install them.

He took out the off-road motorcycle from the garage. There were no zombies in the base, so it was convenient to go anywhere with this vehicle.

Soon, he arrived at the villa sales office again. It was also managed by the base's military, so the people inside were all polite when they saw Lu Heng.

After understanding Lu Heng's needs, the military only charged Lu Heng for the material cost of the fence. After all, it was difficult to find supplies in the apocalypse, and even a fifth-tier ability user could not break the base's rules and not pay.

However, the base did not charge Lu Heng for the labor cost of installing the fence and solar panels. They sent soldiers from the base who were specifically responsible for infrastructure and maintenance. In half a day, Lu Heng's villa was tidied up by them.

Lu Heng felt a little embarrassed and separately gave each of the soldiers who helped five Level 3 ordinary crystal shards.

At first, those who came to help didn't dare to accept them. These were Level 3 crystal shards. Most of the zombies outside were now Level 3, and those zombies were not easy to kill.

Those with weaker abilities could very well be killed by zombies.

The soldiers responsible for construction within the base did not have to go out and kill zombies, but after working in the base every day, they could at most obtain a few Level 2 ordinary crystal shards.

In the end, Lu Heng forced them to accept them. After all, these soldiers were also warriors protecting their country, and without them, the base could not have been built so quickly.

The soldiers looked at the crystal shards in their hands excitedly. They all gave Lu Heng a military salute. "Thank you!"

Lu Heng waved his hand. "It's nothing. You've been busy for half a day too. Everyone can go back. I won't see you off, as you know the roads here better than I do."

The soldiers nodded, gave Lu Heng another military salute, and left in the vehicle they came in, taking their tools with them.

Lu Heng looked at the fence outside the villa. He had electrified this fence and thoughtfully hung up signs outside, stating: "The fence is electrified. Those who touch it will bear the consequences."

This way, he wouldn't have to worry about anyone coming over when he slept tonight. He would put Turtle Immortal on the first floor later; if someone came, it could give a warning.
