“Didn’t expect you’d be in charge of this. It’s quite difficult, isn’t it?”
“It’s alright. I won first place in the junior division of our planet’s system programming competition.”
Bora walked beside Lu Heng, and before he knew it, Lu Heng had led him out of the vicinity of Wuming City.
“A talent indeed.”
“Yes, if I hadn’t modified some of the ship’s programs, we probably wouldn’t have been able to land safely on your planet.”
Bora wasn’t being modest at all, stating the facts.
“Who exactly attacked you? Won’t those people come looking for our planet too?”
“Probably not so soon. They raided our planet for some scarce resources, things that you don’t have here.”
How infuriating! It seemed that Blue Star was spared invasion by higher civilizations because it was a poor planet, thus not attracting their attention.
“They are cosmic bandits, primarily robbing energy from everywhere. Your planet’s energy is too primitive.”
Upon receiving this information, Lu Heng didn’t know whether to be happy or helpless.
The resources that Blue Star’s people relied on for survival were substances that had evolved over tens of thousands of years. After being burned and used, those things were quickly depleted.
They were also short-term, non-renewable resources, truly incomparable to the aliens’ super energy.
“What exactly is your energy? Do you have enough to last?”
As they flew, Lu Heng chatted with Bora.
Since Bora worked in systems, he was undoubtedly very familiar with the aliens’ high-tech items.
Getting more direct information from Bora would be much faster than him going through those documents himself.
“We have enough for the short term. We are also modifying the ship. The ship we escaped in was just for survival; it’s not equipped for long-term space-time jumps. So, we want to repair it and then find usable energy in other spaces.”
“After you fix it, will you leave Blue Star?”
“No, although the resources here are a bit scarce, we can completely live here and avoid the bandits’ raids.”
Are they taking Blue Star as a refuge?
Lu Heng was speechless for a moment. After a pause, he ended the conversation and looked down at the area below.
Below was an open, deserted area. Although there were scattered zombies, it was because there were few man-made structures nearby, so the original zombie population here wasn’t large.
Lu Heng first cleared the nearby zombies, then used his metal ability to create a metal wall.
There weren’t many usable metal resources in this area, so the metal wall Lu Heng created wasn’t very thick.
But he just wanted to test if the metal could block Bora’s zombie-attracting effect. This simple wall should be enough.
“Let’s go in and talk.”
“It’s so small there, won’t it be uncomfortable to stay?”
“I want to test something. You go in first.”
Bora glanced at Lu Heng again, said nothing more, and piloted the flying device inside.
After Bora went in, Lu Heng summoned Lin Xue.
Earlier, in mid-air, he saw that not too many zombies were swarming near Wuming City, so he had put Lin Xue back into his spatial storage. He was also afraid that Lin Xue might enter a state he couldn’t control when he faced Bora directly.
“Now, sense it. Do you still feel that attraction from just now?”
“Yes, but it’s not as strong. However, I can feel that the thing attracting me is very close.”
“Lu Heng, aren’t you coming in? Should I go out then?”
Bora couldn’t hear Lu Heng and Lin Xue’s conversation, nor did he feel anything from Lin Xue.
“I’m coming in now.”
Lu Heng temporarily put Lin Xue back into his storage again and then flew into the metal wall.
“Why didn’t you come in just now?”
“I put away the camel. It’s too big to come in.”
“Oh, your mount is quite good too, it doesn’t consume energy.”
“But it must have a lifespan, after all, they are not immortal.”
“Yes, everything has a lifespan. Your current energy will also be depleted one day, so nothing in the universe is infinite.”
“What experiment did you want to do? How will you do it?”
“I’ll release a zombie later. I want to see how she reacts.”
“Oh, go ahead and release it. But aren’t zombies aggressive towards humans? Won’t it be unsafe for you here?”
“Let’s see first.” Lu Heng wasn’t sure about this either; he didn’t know if Lin Xue would lose control.
Immediately, Lu Heng communicated with Lin Xue in his spatial storage using his thoughts and released Lin Xue from his storage again.
“Master, I…”
As soon as she came out, Lin Xue had only spoken a few words to Lu Heng before her gaze was drawn to Bora, who was not far away.
Lin Xue walked towards Bora, circled him once, and then suddenly reached out her arm towards Bora.
Bora had no prior contact with zombies, but Lin Xue, who was walking towards her, looked somewhat different from the ugly zombies outside.
“What do you want to do?” Bora tried to communicate with Lin Xue, using the zombie language at this moment.
Lu Heng, standing by, calmly watched their interaction and did not stop Lin Xue’s actions.
However, he couldn’t understand the few low growls that Bora made, which sounded like zombie language.
“I like your scent,” Lin Xue said, pulling Bora’s arm and letting out a few low growls, also in the zombie language.
“You want to eat me?” Bora had seen zombies tear apart their companions or humans, and didn’t understand what Lin Xue meant.
Lin Xue shook her head and tightened her grip on Bora’s hand.
“Are you a zombie?”
Lin Xue nodded.
“Then why does your appearance differ from other zombies? You look very clean.”
“My body has the ability to heal, so the places where I was bitten before have already recovered…”
Lu Heng had been watching their direct interaction. After a while, seeing that Lin Xue wasn’t harming Bora, he decided to try and see if he could still control Lin Xue.
“Lin Xue, let go of Bora and come to me.”
Lin Xue paused for a moment. Just as Lu Heng thought she might disobey his command, Lin Xue let go of Bora, turned, and walked towards Lu Heng.
“Master, I like her,” Lin Xue said truthfully to Lu Heng using her thoughts.
“Then do you want to leave me with her?”
Lin Xue shook her head. “Master, I won’t leave you, but I really like her scent too.”
“Do you want to eat her?” Lu Heng asked the same question.
“No, Master, I just really like her.”
Having evolved to Lin Xue’s level, she only occasionally consumed fresh meat from Lu Heng’s spatial storage. Her craving for human flesh had become controllable.
