Two days passed without any news of Little Carp, and Liu Nanfeng felt a bit worried.
So, before Zhu Yin'e could contact him, he reached out to her himself.
As the thought arose, the "Heart-Protecting Mirror" on his chest materialized, detached from his sternum, and floated in the air.
Zhu Yin'e's image then appeared in real-time on the mirror's surface.
"What's wrong?" Zhu Yin'e asked, a hint of confusion in her voice.
Liu Nanfeng felt something was off but dismissed it when she spoke, quickly asking, "Has Little Carp woken up yet?"
"Not yet," Zhu Yin'e replied, a touch of worry clouding her face.
"May I go see her again?" Liu Nanfeng inquired.
Zhu Yin'e paused for a moment, a flicker of joy crossing her features before she quickly suppressed it. She nodded slightly, "It's good for you to come and see. I hope everything is fine."
"Alright, I'll be right over."
Liu Nanfeng put away the "Heart-Protecting Mirror," closed his notebook, and stood up.
He then realized he was still in the coffee shop with people sitting nearby. However, the person beside him seemed completely oblivious to his actions, as if they hadn't seen the mirror floating in the air.
Liu Nanfeng wondered if only he could see the "Heart-Protecting Mirror." But then again, it wasn't impossible.
Still, these were minor matters. He took his laptop to the counter and handed it over to Su Huamei.
"I have to go out for a bit."
"Okay, will you be back for lunch?" Su Huamei asked, being very considerate and not inquiring where he was going.
"I'm not sure. But don't wait for me, eat first," Liu Nanfeng said after a moment's thought.
"Alright. Do you have any money on you? I'll transfer some to you," Su Huamei said, pulling out her phone.
"I have money, I don't need it," Liu Nanfeng quickly replied.
At times, the kindness of the two sisters made him feel a pang of guilt.
Watching Liu Nanfeng leave, Song Haitang leaned over and said, "Boss's wife, you're so good to the boss. He's truly lucky to have found you."
At this moment, Su Huamei had transformed into the appearance of Su Jinxiu, so to them, she was still their boss's wife.
Song Haitang had not only fully recovered but was also brimming with energy. Her entire demeanor was different from before, as if she were a completely new person.
Her guardian spirit behind her had also become more solid and agile.
Outside the coffee shop, Liu Nanfeng headed straight for the riverbank, found an unoccupied spot, and dove into the water. Following the surging river, he made his way towards the Water Mansion.
By the time he reached the entrance of the Water Mansion, Zhu Yin'e was already standing at the gate, looking out as if expecting her husband's return.
"You're here," she said, stepping forward to greet him upon seeing Liu Nanfeng, but then halted.
"Yes, how is Little Carp?"
"Still the same," Zhu Yin'e replied, a hint of worry in her tone.
"Has there been anything unusual?" Liu Nanfeng continued to ask.
Zhu Yin'e shook her head.
"Then there shouldn't be any problem. I'll go see her now," he said, heading towards the Water Mansion.
As he entered, he encountered Zhu Yuchan, who was coming to meet him.
In the vast Water Mansion, apart from the strangely shaped shrimp and crab soldiers patrolling around, only the three of them were present. It was indeed quite deserted, no wonder Little Carp longed to go out and play every day.
"Young Master Liu." Zhu Yuchan bowed slightly upon seeing Liu Nanfeng.
"I'm going to see Little Carp."
"Of course, Young Master Liu. Follow me," Zhu Yuchan said, immediately preparing to lead the way.
Just then, Zhu Yin'e spoke, "Yuchan, it's almost noon. Go and prepare lunch. I'll take Young Master Liu."
Zhu Yuchan glanced at Zhu Yin'e upon hearing this.
Zhu Yin'e understood the unspoken question in her eyes and glared at her.
Zhu Yuchan was not intimidated, a faint smile playing on her lips. She bowed slightly, "Yes, Madam."
Then she turned and left.
Liu Nanfeng, familiar with the way, arrived at Zhu Yin'e's boudoir.
Little Carp was still fast asleep in bed. Zhu Yin'e, perhaps fearing that keeping her in the same position would be uncomfortable, had not only placed a soft blanket beneath her but also changed her position. The little one was sleeping soundly, hugging a carp plush toy, with one small leg resting on its belly and her face flushed red.
No wonder Zhu Yin'e hadn't contacted him. With Little Carp's complexion, she didn't look like anything was wrong.
Without any further ado, Liu Nanfeng activated his analytical vision.
Countless concentric circles expanded in the air, the entire world laid bare under his gaze.
The situation within Little Carp's body was revealed to him.
"Hmm?" Liu Nanfeng suddenly exclaimed in surprise.
"What's wrong?" Zhu Yin'e, hearing his voice beside him, felt her heart skip a beat, thinking something unexpected had happened.
"Nothing, it's just that her evolution is complete," Liu Nanfeng stated.
"Honestly, you scared me to death," Zhu Yin'e chided.
Her tone held a hint of playful petulance, but she quickly composed herself.
"Then why hasn't she woken up yet?"
"Have you called her at all in the past two days?"
Liu Nanfeng turned to look at her, the concentric circles floating in his eyes rapidly retracting, finally disappearing.
"Uh, no. Didn't you say she was evolving and asked us not to disturb her? Aside from adding a blanket that day, we haven't touched her."
"That's right," Liu Nanfeng said with a hint of amusement.
He then playfully patted Little Carp on her bottom.
"Little Carp, time to wake up."
"Mee mee mee..."
Little Carp smacked her lips and continued to sleep soundly.
Liu Nanfeng chuckled and patted her again.
"Wake up quickly, I'll take you to eat something delicious."
Little Carp grudgingly opened her eyes a sliver, took a peek, and then closed them again.
She then mumbled softly, "Delicious food."
And then, swaying, she sat up. Her eyes remained closed, as if still lost in a dream, but her body, enticed by the promise of food, stirred.
"Puchi."
Seeing her daughter's amusing posture, Zhu Yin'e couldn't help but laugh.
"I'll step out. You help her change her clothes," Liu Nanfeng said.
"Mm," Zhu Yin'e nodded.
Liu Nanfeng walked out of the room, closed the door behind him, and waited outside.
Soon, he heard Little Carp's cheerful and joyful voice.
"Mommy, my tummy is empty, I want to eat yummy things."
Little Carp's first words upon waking were about food, truly befitting her name.
"I know, hurry and get dressed. I've already asked Yuchan to make lunch, you can eat soon."
"Oh, oh, will there be lots of yummy food?"
Little Carp cheered upon hearing this.
"Yes, lots of delicious food."
"Ge ge ge..." Little Carp's characteristic laughter rang out from within the room.
Then Little Carp added, "Mommy, I just dreamed about big brother. He also wanted to take me to eat yummy things."
"Haha, really? Did you agree?" Zhu Yin'e asked, suppressing a smile.
"No, just as I was about to agree, you called me awake, hmph~"
From outside the door, Liu Nanfeng could imagine Little Carp putting her hands on her hips in annoyance.
"Why are you blaming me? Who told you to sleep in and not get up."
"Ge ge ge... Mommy, after eating, I want to go play with big brother, and gugugu..."
As they spoke, the door opened, and the two, one large and one small, walked out hand in hand.
And then—
"Wow—"
Little Carp was so excited she could almost fly.
