Jiangcheng was a very small city.
The so-called old district was merely the size of one street, a pedestrian street at that.
It seemed that all cities had their pedestrian streets.
The entire old district was built around this street.
Small cities had their advantages too, making subsequent urban planning easier.
Jiangcheng was a case in point.
The university town and high-tech companies were mostly located in the northern district.
The address given by Zhan Dundun was a company called Blue Sea Biotechnology Research Company, located in the northern district.
The company occupied a rather large area, with vast stretches of greenery. The buildings were few and scattered, hidden amongst the trees, making it difficult to glimpse what lay within.
The only eye-catching structure was a four-story building topped with a steel tower, resembling a launch tower.
"The signal should be coming from that tower," Zhan Dundun pointed towards the top of the tower, where an instrument was constantly rotating, emitting a special frequency.
"What do we do now? Do we go in directly?" Su Huamei asked Su Jinxiu.
Su Jinxiu looked around. This was a university town, with many students coming and going, and numerous apartment buildings nearby. If these people were affected, it would be difficult to resolve.
"Wait a moment."
As Su Jinxiu spoke, she produced a bone flute from somewhere and brought it to her lips, blowing a gentle tune.
A strange rhythm spread outwards, like the wind whistling through dry bones, carrying a chill that made one’s bones feel soft and uncomfortable, compelling them to quickly move away from the area.
In the blink of an eye, the pedestrians on the street had dispersed. Of course, this was also partly due to it being midday, and there weren't many people on the street to begin with.
"Sister, watch me."
Su Huamei said, then lunged forward. She waved her hands outwards, and indistinctly, a scroll slowly unfurled, enveloping the entire research institute.
Liu Nanfeng was somewhat surprised by this, as it bore a resemblance to [Guan Shan Hai].
The scroll then vanished into thin air, leaving no trace.
Su Huamei landed gracefully, looking at everyone with a hint of pride.
Su Jinxiu put away her bone flute and glanced at Su Huamei with approval. This made Su Huamei even more pleased, her face beaming with joy.
Liu Nanfeng: …
Zhan Dundun curiously extended his hand to test the air, and to his surprise, it passed straight through without any resistance.
"Huh?" He looked at Su Huamei with some confusion.
"Go forward and try," Su Huamei said with a smile.
Hearing this, Zhan Dundun immediately walked forward. A ripple spread out instantly, but no matter how he walked, the scenery before him did not change at all, as if the path ahead was endless.
Seeing this, Zhan Dundun saw no need to test further. He turned back and walked out in an instant.
"Actually, you are already within my painting. It's a separate world from the outside. No matter how powerful your abilities are, you cannot move forward," Su Huamei declared proudly.
"Alright, enough talking, let's go in," Su Jinxiu said.
They were currently in a corner of the research institute, so there was no need to worry about being noticed by the people inside.
"Let's go."
Su Huamei pointed into the air with her hand. Ripples spread outwards, revealing an invisible opening. She led the way inside.
The others did not delay and quickly followed, instantly appearing within the research institute.
Su Huamei took a deep breath and sniffed the air. Then she said, "Strange, why isn't there much of a human scent?"
"Uh…"
Liu Nanfeng looked surprised. She could smell that, and moreover, saying that made them sound like villains.
"Because the people are not on the ground, but underground," Su Huamei said.
After speaking, she turned and walked towards a building on the right.
That building was hidden amongst the trees, very concealed.
"Huh, Sister, how did you know?" Su Huamei asked, somewhat surprised.
Just then, the soil in the flowerbed beside them churned, and a white bone dog climbed out. It shook its body, as if disgusted by the dirt clinging to it, acting very human-like.
"Sister-in-law already knew where it was," Zhan Dundun said, surprised.
It seemed that even without him deciphering the information, Su Jinxiu and the others could have found this place.
"I only just found out," Su Jinxiu replied.
At this moment, the little dog ran up and barked silently at the group. Its short tail wagged incessantly, looking very lively, showing no signs of being deceased.
Su Jinxiu crouched down and stroked the little dog's smooth skull. This little dog had been dead for a long time, buried underground for ages. Its color was black, and its bones were somewhat brittle.
However, after Su Jinxiu's touch, the blackness faded, and it turned as white as jade, possessing a certain elegance.
Just then, the grass beside them suddenly rustled. The group turned to look and saw a chicken emerge from the grass, still covered in feathers, dirty and emitting a foul odor.
"Sister, you didn't awaken all the buried bones here, did you?" Su Huamei asked with a frown, her face full of disgust.
"Dada da…" Just then, the little dog suddenly turned and barked furiously towards the building.
Since it was only a skeleton, it couldn't make any sound, only a clattering noise from its bones.
The people in the research institute also discovered their intrusion. A team of people armed with weapons emerged in an orderly fashion.
"As expected, this is no ordinary place. They actually have guns," Liu Nanfeng remarked, somewhat impressed by their fully armed appearance.
It was known that firearms were strictly prohibited in Da Xia, and these people were all holding weapons of mass destruction, indicating that they were not to be trifled with.
"Leave them to me."
Zhan Dundun stepped forward, brought his fists together, and slammed them into each other. With a loud thud, a tiger's roar accompanied a gust of wind that seemed to appear from nowhere.
Those facing him felt a blast in their ears and were thrown into a daze.
"Fire," the team leader, holding back his dizziness, commanded.
Countless bullets rained down, but their aim was poor, as they were all disoriented and merely firing instinctively.
Zhan Dundun pushed his palms forward, and countless bullets froze in mid-air. Then, as if their momentum was lost, they fell to the ground.
"Nice special effects," Liu Nanfeng casually commented from behind.
"Be careful," Su Jinxiu suddenly warned.
Then, to Liu Nanfeng's bewildered gaze, the three figures swayed and stumbled.
Liu Nanfeng felt something and looked up. He saw that the person who had spoken, the one who looked like a captain, was not holding a firearm at all. It merely resembled one, with a honeycomb-shaped muzzle. Upon pressing the trigger, it emitted a special frequency of sound waves.
These sound waves were not directed at humans but were specifically designed for supernatural beings.
Under these sound waves, their human forms became difficult to maintain. Their entire beings seemed to flicker, with two forms overlapping, creating a very strange effect.
Zhan Dundun, in his chubby form, also had a cute panda-like appearance, constantly shifting as if fighting for ownership of his form.
However, the three were powerful. The opponent's attack was merely a surprise. Su Jinxiu was the first to regain stability. With a wave of her hand, the opponent's palm uncontrollably clenched the weapon in his hand with terrifying force. The flesh and blood on his palm instantly blurred, and his entire hand turned to powder. The weapon fell to the ground, also essentially rendered useless.
"Ah…"
The opponent cried out in pain, clutching his severed palm and falling to his knees. This happened extremely quickly, almost in the blink of an eye. By the time the others reacted, they felt as if the vertebrae in their necks had come alive, bulging violently at the back as if trying to break free from their physical restraints.
Although they did not break free, this sudden jolt likely severed countless nerves, causing everyone to collapse onto the ground like a puddle of mud, unable to move.
Even Liu Nanfeng, who knew of Su Jinxiu's immense power, was greatly astonished by this. However, upon reflection, he felt it was only natural. She could control bones, and it wasn't stated that she could only control the bones of the dead. With this single skill, ninety-nine percent of the world would be at her mercy, as very few creatures did not have bones.
Zhan Dundun felt a chill run down his spine and subtly touched the back of his neck.
