Vincent sidled over after the Frost Giant left. "Your Highness, are these mercenaries reliable? Their price is too low."
Though he rarely dealt with such people, Vincent had learned a lot over the years. To him, the price was simply too low.
Scorpio explained, "Absolutely reliable. Because here, productivity is so low, everyone lives a primitive life without any economic system. Even fifty gold coins would be treated like stones, but food is different."
Xiao Xun nodded. "Alright, if there's nothing else, let's head back!"
As they spoke, they had already returned to the camp. The mercenary camp was not far from where they had landed.
Upon seeing them return, Dukal suddenly rushed over in a panic.
"It's bad, Your Highness! It's bad!"
He panted, his expression uneasy. "The camp..."
"What's the panic? Look at you..."
Vincent frowned, clearly displeased.
Although it was unpleasant, he was straightforward. "Just say what happened properly!"
"Your Highness, you'd better go and see for yourself."
Seeing Xiao Xun, he finally calmed down, ignoring Vincent's reprimand. "I swear, I've never seen such evil creatures. What's happening over there is simply unbelievable!"
"What's going on to make you so flustered?"
Dukal glanced at him. "Your Highness, the corpses have revived!"
Xiao Xun drew his sword. "It seems we have trouble."
With that, he walked out, Dukal hastily followed. Vincent, after three seconds of surprise, also picked up his weapon and followed.
Xiao Xun walked quickly, arriving just in time for the final moments of the battle.
A soldier swung his sword and decapitated a ghoul. However, the ghoul's dying counterattack was even more ferocious. Its sharp claws left a wound down to the bone on his arm!
Vincent walked over with a grim expression and took the soldier's hand. In the soldier's surprised and bewildered gaze, a warm holy light emanated from Vincent's hand. Then, the soldier's wound healed at a visible rate, and some grayish-blue substance quickly disappeared.
The soldier, receiving treatment from the commander of the Fearless Vanguard himself, was suddenly at a loss, his face flushed. He couldn't even speak.
"Stay focused during combat. Any dying counterattack from the enemy could be fatal," Xiao Xun said, patting his shoulder. Even though the soldier was likely much older than him, he cautioned, "You might not be so lucky next time you get infected!"
"Understood, Your Highness!" the soldier replied, filled with awe and trepidation.
"Let's go back," Vincent said, and the soldier hurried back to his unit.
Then, he immediately found Dukal. "Have all priests and paladins mobilize. Anyone scratched by those undead, immediately use holy light to treat the wound!"
"Understood!"
"Have the artillerymen get ready and double the night watch!"
At this moment, in a hidden location within the capital of Saint Ti Luoman.
"Boss, latest news, Svein has left Saint Ti Luoman."
"What?!"
The person called Boss suddenly turned around, his eyes filled with disbelief as he looked at his subordinate.
"Yes, Svein departed with the fleet a week ago for Pabor. Boss, this is a godsend!"
"Wait, could this be a trap to lure the snake out of its hole?"
After all, Xiao Xun had used such a tactic before, resulting in the deaths of many experts from the undead legions. Instinctively, he didn't believe this news and frowned.
The subordinate looked at his boss's hesitation. "Boss, we should act as soon as possible. Time is of the essence. Such opportunities are fleeting, and we don't know when he might return."
"Pabor..."
He didn't answer immediately, but instead pondered, trying to ascertain Svein's purpose for the trip.
"Does Saint Ti Luoman know anything about the King of Arrogance, or some other news?"
The subordinate replied, "I don't think so. As far as I know, hardly anyone from these human nations would travel to that cold region."
After saying this, he added, "Perhaps some explorers might venture there, but the frequency is extremely low, and they wouldn't venture deep into the hinterland. Moreover, the location of the King of Arrogance is at the pole of this planet, where it's almost impossible for normal life to survive!"
Tichondrius's eyes flickered, nervously contemplating potential dangers.
"It's time to take a risk," he finally decided. "Go inform the Lich. Stop wasting ordinary people. Bring out the Lonussky gun and act immediately!"
"Understood."
The subordinate agreed, but then raised a question. "But isn't this too hasty? We still don't know if the Empress has any other experts by her side."
"We have no time to dawdle. If we can't lead troops to kill Selerpes soon, we'll be annihilated once Svein returns."
"Understood, sir."
A man in black, who had been silent all along, stepped forward.
"Do you have confidence?"
"I'm not sure. It depends on whether we can infiltrate the castle at the first opportunity."
Another subordinate entered. "Sir, I have major news for you!"
He said in a low voice, then quickly looked around as if being a thief. "Svein has left the capital of Saint Ti Luoman with the Fearless Vanguard!"
The boss was greatly surprised. He hadn't expected his subordinate to be so well-informed. What was a secret to one person was known to everyone. He felt increasingly that there was some conspiracy, but the arrow was nocked and ready to be fired.
However, he still pretended to be unfazed and said, "I already know this. So, what do you plan to do?" He wanted to gauge the subordinate's reaction first, to prevent any unforeseen changes.
"Sir, I believe we should proceed with the assassination plan now," he said in a lowered voice.
"Do you have an assassination plan?"
The other party suddenly stammered, unable to speak.
In the Pabor region, even though it was late at night according to Saint Ti Luoman time, the unique conditions of the far north meant it was still as bright as day.
Even at noon, the sun's altitude was only about equivalent to the morning in Saint Ti Luoman, offering no warmth to the land.
Matching this despairing sun was the almost despairing state of battle on the ground.
As if an endless undead army was charging out of the dark, misty valley, besieging the human encampment. This rudimentary camp was now like a tiny boat in a vast ocean, capable of being capsized at any moment!
"Artillery, advance! Magic archers, advance! Magic troops, fall back! Magic troops, fall back!"
"Volley at six o'clock! Ah, beautiful!"
"Eight o'clock!"
