The Trickster King

Chapter 19 A New Official Takes Office

Xiao Xun returned to the technical department's office area. Everyone stopped their work and stood up in unison, saying, "Greetings, Director!"

This reminded Xiao Xun of scenes from his student days when teachers entered. Overwhelmed, he waved his hands at his colleagues, "Don't just stand there, please sit down and get back to work!"

This was not a company rule, but a rule originally established by Zhang Youwei, the former technical director.

The two new team leaders, appointed in the server room, waited outside Xiao Xun's directorial office. One was holding his computer, and the other held a folder.

Xiao Xun walked to the doorway and looked at them, "Is something wrong?"

One of them handed him the computer, "Director Xiao, your computer."

Xiao Xun nodded his thanks and took the computer.

The other handed a folder to Xiao Xun, "This is our performance report."

Xiao Xun slapped his forehead, thinking, "Right, I only appointed them verbally; they aren't official team leaders yet."

So he pushed the door open, "Come in! I have something to ask you anyway."

The two followed Xiao Xun into the office. Director Zhang's personal belongings, including his computer, had been taken away. Xiao Xun needed new equipment and had to contact the logistics department.

Xiao Xun connected his laptop and asked, "Who can help me log into our company's intranet?"

A team leader closest to him walked over, directly entered the website, and a login interface appeared.

He stepped back, "Director Xiao, you'll need to enter your employee ID or mobile number and password."

"That's a problem. Today is my first day, and these records probably haven't been updated yet."

Just then, there was a knock on the door. Xiao Xun called out, "Please come in."

A female employee entered, looking like a fresh college graduate, youthful and beautiful.

"Director Xiao, I am your assistant, Lei Wenxiu."

Xiao Xun nodded, "Lei Wenxiu, what can I do for you?"

Facing a senior leader not much older than herself, Lei Wenxiu seemed a bit nervous, "Um, yes, outside there is, no, the HRBP from the Human Resources department wants to see you."

Xiao Xun thought, "Where did they recruit such an assistant?"

The two team leaders on the sides also frowned. Although Lei Wenxiu was new, she was known for her fiery temper under Director Zhang's tenure. What was happening today?

"You can let him in!"

Lei Wenxiu nodded and went out. As soon as she left, a young man in a sharp suit, carrying a briefcase, walked in. He looked very refined. Reaching Xiao Xun's desk, he nodded to the two team leaders, "Could you please step out for a moment?"

The two team leaders did not heed him but looked at Xiao Xun, as in their minds, Xiao Xun had already become their direct leader.

Xiao Xun nodded, "You two can go out first."

After the two team leaders left, the young man extended his hand, "Hello, I am our company's HRBP. My name is Song Yuanzong."

Xiao Xun stood up and shook his hand, "Hello, I am Xiao Xun."

"Your information has been given to me by Secretary Fan. Your employee ID has been assigned. Here are a few documents that require your signature." Saying this, he opened his briefcase, took out a stack of documents and a laptop.

"I have spoken with the General Manager. I will not sign any contracts."

Song Yuanzong placed the documents in front of Xiao Xun, "You don't need to worry. These are just the company charter acknowledgment and the job responsibility agreement, which are required. There is no contract."

Xiao Xun picked them up and looked. Indeed, there was no messy stuff. He prepared to find a pen but realized Zhang Youwei had left him not a single one.

Song Yuanzong took out a pen from his bag, placed it on the documents, and then opened the laptop.

"Please tell me your mobile number, Director Xiao, so I can help you complete your employee ID registration. As for the work badge, there's really no time today. I'll get it to you by lunchtime tomorrow at the latest."

Xiao Xun told him his mobile number while reviewing the documents.

After a while, Xiao Xun's phone received a verification code. Song Yuanzong, without looking up from the computer screen, said, "Please tell me the verification code."

After telling him, Xiao Xun received another text message, which read: Congratulations on becoming a member of Saint Romani. It included an account and an initial password, with a reminder to change the password as soon as possible to prevent unauthorized access.

Song Yuanzong said to Xiao Xun, "Director Xiao, your permissions and position have been modified. You can start working online once you log into our company's intranet."

After saying this, he put away the laptop and came before Xiao Xun, "Please sign these as soon as possible. I have a meeting at the branch company shortly."

Xiao Xun handed the documents to Song Yuanzong, "Please call my two team leaders in when you go out."

Song Yuanzong glanced at Xiao Xun and turned to leave.

A moment later, the two team leaders walked in.

Before Xiao Xun could speak, one of the team leaders said, "Director Xiao, have you heard? All six of our former team leaders and two section chiefs in the technical department have resigned."

"Have the department managers and deputy managers left?"

The two shook their heads, "No."

Xiao Xun logged into the company's intranet and directly used the system to summon all management personnel from the technical department to the office.

When everyone had arrived, Xiao Xun stood up and sat directly on the desk, looking at the people standing before him.

"Perhaps everyone is wondering why Director Zhang was suddenly transferred and replaced by a young whippersnapper like me. In fact, there's nothing to be suspicious of. For a 'Yuntu' system, you spent a week to find a very small problem, and then you couldn't even solve it. What's the use of the company spending so much money to keep you?"

All department heads lowered their heads, accepting a reprimand from someone much younger than them. This was the harsh reality of the workplace.

"If you want to climb up, you can! Show me your true capabilities, and I can even let you sit in this Director's position."

He said this while looking at the company leaders, some much older than him, standing before him. "But please remember, I don't care about the company's system, but I don't tolerate idlers here, nor do I look at your seniority. Even if you invented the internet, if you don't meet the company's requirements, you'll be let go." He then knocked twice on the desk, "Do you understand?"

The managers replied in very low voices, "Understood."

Xiao Xun rubbed his injured left arm. "I heard all the team leaders resigned voluntarily. That's good, it shows they have dignity and self-awareness.

Besides the two new team leaders I've already appointed, choose two people from each group and submit their names. I want to see if they have the capability to be team leaders. Do you think the salary is that easy to earn?"

They looked at each other, but no one spoke until Xiao Xun slammed the desk again. "I don't have time to chat idly with you all. Go back to your work!"

After they left, he suddenly remembered that Zhang Youwei had not handed over anything to him. However, the company had its own communication software, which included the entire hierarchical structure chart. He could see who his subordinate managers and employees were, as well as who his superior managers and their leaders were.
