The Trickster King

Chapter 17 Talent is Hard to Find

Upon learning the target task, Xiao Xun quickly reprogrammed the entire system under his operation. After inputting the restart command, the overall operation was very smooth.

After Xiao Xun's modification, refinement, and improvement, the system saved a lot more memory compared to when it was just being used. Of course, with less memory occupation, the operating speed was faster, and the power consumption was also significantly reduced.

Wang Sucheng, who could see the background feedback more intuitively, heavily pressed his cigar into the ashtray, excitedly tapping the desktop with his index fingernail, and muttered to himself, "Thirty thousand yuan, I really struck gold."

After speaking, he cupped his chin and said, "No, I must find a way to sign a contract with him, otherwise, he might be poached by headhunters with a high salary."

Then, he called Secretary Fan in and asked, "Has the work badge for our new Director Xiao been made yet?"

"Manager, an hour ago, I just sent the photo to the company that makes work badges. The earliest it can be ready is the day after tomorrow."

Wang Sucheng stood up. "Tell the manufacturer that I said, they must have the work badge made before the end of work today, even if they have to run the machines specifically for it."

Secretary Fan nodded. "Understood, I'll tell them right away."

"Also, during lunch, you can use your meal card to treat Director Xiao to lunch in our company's cafeteria. Take him around to get familiar with the company environment and understand the corporate culture. In short, make him feel comfortable here. If anyone makes him unhappy, you tell me directly, and I'll make them unhappy."

Seeing Wang Sucheng's demeanor, Secretary Fan was very surprised, as this was the first time his manager had shown such an expression. Previously, no matter what happened, he always remained calm and detached. What was going on today?

"Is there something I shouldn't say?"

Seeing Secretary Fan hesitating, Wang Sucheng looked up. "If you have something to say, just say it. You've been my secretary for three years, and you know I don't like people who are indecisive and drag things out."

Secretary Fan nodded and said to him, "You've directly appointed such a young new leader. The technical department, from the previous Director Zhang to the team leaders below, all seem very unhappy."

Wang Sucheng waved his hand. "I was just about to tell you. At lunch, tell Director Xiao that all personnel in the technical department whom he dislikes or who do not obey his management can be directly dismissed without needing to inform me. I think these loafers who slack off have long been overdue to leave. This should have been the company's star department, but they've turned it into a retirement department."

Facing Wang Sucheng's complaints, Secretary Fan reminded him, "Wouldn't it be better to inform the president before doing this? After all, it's a high-level personnel appointment and dismissal."

Wang Sucheng picked up the six hundred yuan of crisp bills Xiao Xun had left on the desk. "Do you know what this is?"

Seeing Secretary Fan confused, Wang Sucheng smiled and said, "This person was directly recruited by our president. This six hundred is a 'door-knocker.' Our president, although a woman, is not simple at all!"

Although Secretary Fan didn't immediately understand what he meant, he nodded and turned to leave.

Secretary Fan went to the technical department. Everyone was discussing who the new director was. As soon as he arrived, he gave the team leaders a warning. Many team leaders were upset and offered their resignations, sending resignation emails to the general manager.

Within three minutes, a reply of two words, "Approved," was received from the general manager's office, faster than a girlfriend replying to a text message.

The entire department's team leaders and even two section chiefs who had finally climbed up voluntarily submitted their resignations. This would be a major incident in any company, but unexpectedly, the general manager agreed to all of them without trying to retain anyone.

This left them dumbfounded. They had expected the general manager to personally inquire about the situation when so many people resigned. To their surprise, not even Secretary Fan showed up. They had already been replaced by their former subordinates.

Since they resigned voluntarily, there was no compensation. Furthermore, according to the company contract, all work matters had to be handed over before they could leave.

Most of the team leaders had put in a great deal of effort to reach their positions. They relied on this salary to pay off their mortgages and car loans. For some families, the team leader was the sole breadwinner.

Director Zhang, who had proposed the collective resignation, remained quiet, vacated his office early, and took a position in the general affairs office.

It was clear they had been used as pawns. The six team leaders and two section chiefs from the technical department simultaneously arrived outside the general manager's office but were stopped by the receptionist.

"What are you doing?"

One of the section chiefs, who had been with the company for a longer time, yelled, "We want to see the general manager! Why did he fire us?"

Seeing the aggressive demeanor of the other party, the receptionist didn't waste words and directly pressed the call button for the security office.

Soon, four burly men wearing suits, buzz cuts, sunglasses, and carrying Bluetooth walkie-talkies descended directly from the top floor and "kindly" escorted the eight of them out.

Xiao Xun forcibly deciphered the original encryption key and then set up a new one.

He glanced at the time; it was past lunchtime. He closed his laptop and rubbed his sore calves.

The two new team leaders, being perceptive, had one of them take Xiao Xun's laptop and the other help Xiao Xun up.

Xiao Xun patted the two new team leaders, who were many years older than him, and said, "It's getting late, you guys should go eat!"

The two new team leaders nodded. "Director, please take care. We'll be going now."

As they took off their shoe covers and exited, they saw Secretary Fan waiting with his arms crossed. They respectfully said, "Hello, Secretary Fan."

Secretary Fan glanced at the entrance of the server room. "Is everything finished inside?"

The two of them nodded simultaneously. "The new Director Xiao said there was nothing else, so he told us to go eat first."

Secretary Fan said emotionlessly, "Go!"

The director of the design department and Xiao Xun exchanged contact information. A middle-aged man, the same age as Xiao Xun's father, held his hand tightly and said with great warmth, "Young man, you're truly accomplished at such a young age! I've worked in this company for more than ten years to reach my current position. I never expected Director Lu to be so young. May I ask which prestigious university abroad you graduated from?"

"Director Liu is too kind. My alma mater is an unknown ordinary school in China; it's really not worth mentioning!"

Seeing Xiao Xun say this, the other party assumed he wanted to keep it confidential and didn't pry further. He gave an awkward smile and said, "I have other matters to attend to, so I won't bother you further. We'll have many opportunities to interact in the future, so I hope Brother Xiao will take care of me."

After speaking, he even reached out and lightly patted Xiao Xun's right arm.

Xiao Xun nodded. In fact, he disliked people patting his arm the most, regardless of who it was. He felt it was very impolite.

However, being slightly socially anxious, he did not voice his dissatisfaction and merely nodded awkwardly.

After taking off his shoe covers and exiting the server room, the personnel responsible for equipment maintenance in the server room closed the door.

Upon reaching the entrance, he saw Secretary Fan greeting Director Liu.

When Secretary Fan saw Xiao Xun emerge, he bypassed Director Liu and went straight to Xiao Xun. Director Liu glanced at the two of them and returned dejectedly, further solidifying his inner thoughts.
