collecting the Dragon Phoenix Origin Fruit, there was no longer any reason to remain here. Mo Yu and his group took one last glance at the plain where both an ancient Heavenly Phoenix and Ancient Void Dragon had fallen. With a light tap of his foot on the stone platform, his figure appeared at the edge of the Beast Spirit Barrier.
Zi Yan casually slashed a rift in the air, and the group swiftly darted through it.
In the forest, golden light flickered, and several figures suddenly emerged.
"Let’s leave this place first. It’s not just about avoiding thieves but also about being wary of those who covet. Who knows if the Heavenly Demon Phoenix Clan has other strong experts around?"
Mo Yu surveyed the surroundings. Without lingering, he moved swiftly along the path they had come.
Upon hearing this, Xiao Yixian and Zi Yan nodded and quickly followed.
As they flew, they encountered several treasure seekers with considerable strength. However, sensing the powerful aura radiating from Mo Yu, these individuals suppressed their greedy impulses.
Following their original route, the trio dashed through, drawing attention but encountering no real obstacles.
Thus, about twenty minutes later, they arrived once again at the stone gate through which they had initially entered.
Throughout this journey, Mo Yu still hadn’t spotted traces of Feng Qing’er and her group. They must have left through another route.
"Rumble!"
With a steady push, the trio opened the stone gate once more. After taking a final look at the ancient forest behind them, they darted out and tightly closed the gate.
In the spacious corridor, they glanced at the now-sealed stone door and the chaotic state of the corridor and adjacent pavilions. They couldn’t help but smile bitterly and shake their heads.
"Too reckless," Mo Yu muttered.
"Where to now?" Xiao Yixian asked, her gaze fixed on Mo Yu.
"Further inside. The real treasures should be at the center of the main hall," Mo Yu pondered for a moment, identified the direction, and began striding swiftly down the corridor.
Hearing this, Xiao Yixian nodded and quickly followed with Zi Yan.
The corridors had clearly been ransacked while they were in the ancient forest.
Not only was everything in disarray, but the once-pristine pavilions were now reduced to ruins, prompting headshakes at the sight.
Seeing the extent of the destruction, the trio lost interest in examining the surroundings and hastened toward the main hall.
Along the way, they encountered several groups also searching for treasures.
Oddly, all these groups seemed to be heading in the same direction.
Mo Yu’s eyebrows rose at the sight. He exchanged a glance with Xiao Yixian, and both nodded subtly, deciding to follow the crowd.
"Pills," Mo Yu murmured softly after they passed through several corridors.
At his words, Mo Yu seemed to recall something, and a smile appeared. With a quick burst of speed, he easily outpaced the other teams ahead.
Behind him, Xiao Yixian and Zi Yan smiled slightly and unleashed their full speed to keep up.
"The Pill Hall!"
Half an hour later, the trio stopped before an imposing and majestic hall.
The grand entrance of the Pill Hall had already been forced open, and shadowy figures could be seen frantically searching inside.
"Let’s go," Mo Yu said, leading the way into the spacious hall.
The first floor of the Pill Hall was in chaos. After a quick scan of the area, Mo Yu lost interest.
He gestured to move deeper into the hall. Upon finding the staircase leading upward, Mo Yu had no desire to search the lower levels and went straight to the third floor.
The third floor of the Pill Hall was expansive, with numerous well-decorated pill rooms. The layout and grandeur far surpassed the lower levels.
A dense toxic miasma enveloped the hall, but it posed no threat to Mo Yu and his group.
Their sudden arrival caught the attention of several others, but no one approached them, as everyone remained cautious and guarded.
"I wonder if there are any legendary ninth-grade pills on this floor? If there are, it’d be extraordinary," Xiao Yixian remarked with a charming smile as her eyes scanned the pill rooms.
"Ninth-grade pills are unlikely. Even for Dou Sheng experts, such pills are incredibly rare," Mo Yu replied, raising an eyebrow as he casually entered an unoccupied pill room.
The room was relatively large and still tidy, as it hadn’t been visited by others yet.
After finding some valuable pills and ancient pill recipes, Mo Yu nodded in satisfaction.
Having searched this room, the trio moved on, swiftly scouring several more pill rooms.
Though they didn’t uncover any major surprises, they managed to gather some valuable items. Some ancient recipes would also benefit the Thousand Medicine Hall of the Yuan Manor.
"Creak."
Pushing open the door to a pill room in the corner, the trio stepped inside, glancing around with furrowed brows.
This room was much narrower than the others, and judging by its disheveled state, it had likely already been looted.
"Let’s go," Mo Yu said, losing interest and waving his hand. Just as he was about to turn and leave, a loud collision rang out not far away.
Such clashes were commonplace in treasure-filled ruins, and Mo Yu was unfazed. Conflicts were inevitable in a place like this.
Just as he was about to move on, a familiar voice reached his ears.
Mo Yu froze and turned to Xiao Yixian and Zi Yan. "That’s Cousin Xiao Yan’s voice."
Both women focused their senses briefly before nodding in confirmation.
Zi Yan grinned. "Since that’s the case, let’s go find Xiao Yan. He seems to be in some trouble. Haha, let this lady lend him a hand!"
"Alright," Mo Yu agreed, though his eyes flickered with a hint of puzzlement. He had a vague sense that the person Xiao Yan was fighting also felt strangely familiar.
...
"Hand over the Pill Beast, or die!"
Not far from Mo Yu and the others, Xiao Yan’s expression was dark as he flashed in front of a shadowy figure wearing a ghostly mask.
Purple-brown flames enveloped Xiao Yan’s palms as he thrust them fiercely toward his opponent.
"Boom!"
The masked figure didn’t flinch, countering Xiao Yan’s strike with a palm of his own.
As their palms collided, Xiao Yan trembled slightly, while the masked figure staggered backward before leaping onto a crossbeam and coldly gazing down at the crowd below.
"Hmph, I’ve been tracking this beast for quite some time. If you’re claiming I should hand it over now, when you were the ones to steal it first, isn’t that ridiculous?"
The shadowy figure’s voice was unexpectedly clear, revealing it to be a young woman. Judging from her tone, she wasn’t likely very old.
At this moment, the figure held a small pill beast.
The pill beast was a fluffy white creature, resembling a cat but unusually plump, round, and seemingly harmless. However, it emitted no energy fluctuations, appearing to be just an ordinary beast.
Seeing the shadowy figure showing no signs of backing down, a cold gleam flickered in Xiao Yan’s eyes.
"If that’s the case, don’t blame us for relying on superior numbers."
Xiao Yan stepped forward, his purple-brown flames surging like a raging dragon, shrouding him completely.
With a fierce stomp, his figure shot forward like a bolt of lightning, his scorching, forceful palm strike aimed directly at the figure’s head.
"Hmph!"
Seeing Xiao Yan attack, the shadowy figure let out a cold snort, retreating nimbly to dodge the palm strike. From beneath the ghostly mask, a green glow suddenly flickered.
"If anyone’s relying on numbers, it should be me!"
As her cold words fell, the space before her distorted, and over a dozen figures materialized out of thin air. With a unified roar, they unleashed a barrage of ferocious palm strikes at Xiao Yan.
The moment the green glow appeared, even Xiao Yan, despite being a Dou Zun, was forced to retreat several steps to avoid the brunt of the assault.
Floating in mid-air, the dozen figures exuded powerful auras. The leading two black-robed elders were both at the Dou Zun level, while the others, though slightly weaker, were all peak Dou Zong experts. Together, they formed a formidable lineup.
"She’s controlling their bodies, yet they still retain their consciousness. What a strange technique..."
No longer a novice, Xiao Yan quickly discerned their peculiar state.
Realizing this, Xiao Yan’s heart sank. This ability was something even he found daunting.
Nonetheless, his nature would never allow him to back down.
In the next moment, his body erupted with immense Dou Qi, and the terrifying force of his heavenly flames caused the entire hall to heat up dramatically.
Seeing this, the shadowy figure focused intensely, her hands rapidly forming seals as a ghostly green light emanated from her eyes.
Just as the two sides were about to collide in an earth-shattering clash, a stern voice suddenly rang out, breaking the tension.
"Stop!"
A figure enveloped in lightning shot into the room, positioning itself between Xiao Yan and the shadowy figure. A powerful aura, like a tornado, dispersed both Xiao Yan’s flames and the shadowy figure’s green light.
"Cousin!"
"Young Master!"
Hearing the voice, both Xiao Yan and the shadowy figure exclaimed in unison. However, upon noticing the other’s title for Mo Yu, both wore expressions of shock.
Seeing this, Mo Yu could only shake his head with a wry smile.
From the moment he approached the pill chamber, he had already sensed the identity of Xiao Yan’s opponent.
This familiar aura—who else could it be but Qing Lin?
Although he hadn’t anticipated such a scenario, Mo Yu wasn’t entirely surprised.
After all, in the original story, Xiao Yan and Qing Lin almost fought over a pill beast in the Dou Sheng ruins. Now, with the timeline altered by his intervention, their estrangement and ensuing conflict weren’t too surprising.
"Qing Lin, take off your mask. This is Xiao Yan, the third young master of the Xiao Clan and my cousin. There’s no need for you two to fight anymore," Mo Yu said, shaking his head with a chuckle.
"Xiao Yan, the third young master?"
Hearing this, Qing Lin removed her ghostly mask, revealing an alluring and stunningly beautiful face that now wore an expression of awkwardness.
Years ago, as a member of the Desert Iron Mercenary Group, Qing Lin had served the Xiao brothers, Xiao Li and Xiao Ding. From them, she’d heard many stories about Xiao Yan.
Moreover, back when she followed Mo Yu in the Jia Ma Empire, Qing Lin had seen Xiao Yan several times and knew he was regarded as one of the Xiao Clan’s Twin Dragons alongside Mo Yu.
But after years of separation and her secluded training during Xiao Yan’s visit to Yuan Manor for reinforcements, Qing Lin’s memory of the third young master had gradually faded, leading to this misunderstanding.
Thinking of this, Qing Lin stepped beside Mo Yu and offered Xiao Yan an apologetic smile. "Apologies, Third Young Master Xiao Yan. I didn’t know it was you earlier. Please forgive my offense."
"Heh, I didn’t recognize you either, Qing Lin. It’s all just a misunderstanding." Xiao Yan scratched his head awkwardly and added, "But from now on, don’t call me Third Young Master. With your current strength, even I feel the pressure."
Qing Lin smiled faintly at his words, addressing him as Third Young Master only out of respect for Mo Yu’s relationship with him, not due to past favors.
Seeing it was all a misunderstanding, Xiao Yan’s companions, including Tian Huo Zun Zhe, exchanged glances, marveling at Qing Lin’s connection with Mo Yu.
Yuan Manor truly had a deep bench, boasting numerous powerful experts.
Even a single woman could exert such enormous pressure on them.
"Qing Lin, weren’t you in Yuan Manor? Why have you come to the Dou Sheng ruins?" Zi Yan asked as she arrived with Xiao Yixian, her bright eyes lighting up with curiosity.
Hearing this, Mo Yu also glanced at Qing Lin, silver eyes glinting with interest.
"It’s a long story. Not long ago, with the help of some master alchemists in the Thousand Medicine Hall, I successfully broke through to Dou Zun and came out of seclusion," Qing Lin explained in a calm, clear tone.
"After learning that the young master had entered the Beast Region, I wanted to find and aid him. Thanks to the powerful abilities of my Triple Jade-Green Snake Flower Pupils, I was able to control several strong serpentine beasts but also caught the attention of the Nine Serene Deep Ground Python Clan.
"To avoid retaliation and with the Dou Sheng ruins opening, I decided to enter here to lie low. While exploring the ruins, I discovered this eighth-grade pill beast in the Pill Hall, which led to the misunderstanding with Young Master Xiao Yan."
Mo Yu nodded in understanding. No wonder the controlled experts exuded such strong auras—they were members of the Nine Serene Deep Ground Python Clan, one of the three major magical beast clans.
Though it might bring some trouble, Mo Yu, having already crossed paths with the Heavenly Demon Phoenix Clan, didn’t consider adding another adversary too troublesome.
After clarifying the situation, Mo Yu turned his gaze toward the adorable pill beast in Qing Lin’s arms. "So, this is the eighth-grade pill beast? What kind of pill is it?"
Hearing this, Xiao Yan’s eyes flickered with contemplation as he spoke softly, "If I’m not mistaken, this should be an ancient eighth-grade pill that has undergone the eight-colored pill lightning—Bloodline Reversion Pill!"
