Chapter 1163: Chapter 1163: Escape
The prison guard frowned at Gangzi but said nothing. Instead, he looked up at Xiao Zheng in the shop, a smile instantly appearing on his face.
"Xiao Zheng," the prison guard called out.
Xiao Zheng looked at the prison guard in confusion and asked, "Are you looking for me?"
"Yes, I have arranged an escape route for you. It’s absolutely safe. Come with me now, and I’ll get you out," the prison guard said astonishingly.
Even though he lowered his voice, Gangzi heard him clearly.
"What?" Gangzi gulped, that prison guard was actually here to help Xiao Zheng escape!
Unexpectedly, Xiao Zheng even had such connections that he could mobilize a prison guard to help him escape!
Xiao Zheng looked at the prison guard in front of him and said nothing, just silently observed.
"What are you standing there for? Let’s go, if you don’t leave now, it’ll be too late. I’ve arranged everything, hurry," the prison guard urged again.
Xiao Zheng chuckled and spat out a word, "Scram!"
"Hmm?" The prison guard was taken aback, looking at Xiao Zheng in surprise, "What did you say?"
"Didn’t hear it clearly? Okay, I’ll repeat it. I’m telling you to scram now. I’m giving you ten seconds, if you don’t scram, I’ll break your leg!" Xiao Zheng said with a cold sneer, not even glancing at the prison guard.
"What are you doing? I went to great lengths to arrange an escape route for you, why are you acting like this? Do you plan to stay here for life?" The prison guard said, looking a bit miserable.
"You’re wrong. I don’t plan to stay here for life, but I also don’t plan to leave now. I live well here, dressed well, sleep well, eat well, and don’t have to work. I’m as comfortable as a lord. Why leave?" Xiao Zheng said, pouting.
The prison guard’s brows furrowed tightly as he looked at Xiao Zheng lying on the bed, completely unfazed, feeling a bit troubled.
"This is the best opportunity. If you leave now, I can arrange for a new identity, so the prison won’t come after you. In other words, if you leave now, you’re truly out, and no one will hold you accountable afterward," the prison guard continued, speaking earnestly.
Xiao Zheng seemed a bit impatient. He turned to the prison guard and said, "I’ve given you a chance. I’ll say it again; your ten seconds are up. Either you leave now, or I’ll break one of your legs."
As he spoke, Xiao Zheng’s expression darkened, and an intangible aura of menace began to rise.
The prison guard’s heart quivered slightly, he gritted his teeth, and said, "Ungrateful, then stay here and rot."
With that, he rushed out and locked the cell door behind him.
After the prison guard left, Gangzi, in the lower bunk, asked in surprise, "Big brother, why didn’t you leave? Didn’t he say he would help you clear your identity, letting you become a normal person again?"
When Gangzi heard this just now, he couldn’t help but wonder if he could take the offer himself.
Of course, he dared not ask this in front of Xiao Zheng.
Xiao Zheng sneered and asked, "Do you think a small prison guard has the power to arrange an escape route for me?"
Gangzi was stunned, seeming a bit confused.
"Let me ask you this, do you think there’s any way to exit the prison other than through the main gate?" Xiao Zheng asked differently.
Gangzi thought for a moment and decisively shook his head.
Every newly imprisoned person might instinctively study the prison’s layout, fantasizing about escape.
Therefore, Gangzi was quite familiar with the prison’s structure.
Don’t even think about climbing those high walls—it’s impossible. Even if you manage to climb them with some help, the walls are lined with electrified wires, making it impossible to escape.
Assuming you make it out, the numerous armed guards won’t let you go unchallenged.
Thus, to leave, the only way is through the main gate.
Gangzi seemed to realize something and exclaimed, "So you mean..."
"Exactly. He intended to lead me out the main gate, where, conveniently, a group of guards would catch me escaping. You know, during an escape, guards are authorized to shoot to kill," Xiao Zheng said with a smile.
Gangzi felt a chill run through him, not expecting the prison guard’s real intention!
He swallowed hard, looking at Xiao Zheng with admiration, "Big brother, you’re the meticulous one. If it were me, I might have been shot dead."
Xiao Zheng smiled but said nothing, knowing that this wasn’t the end. The prison guard’s failed scheme meant there would be more tactics to follow.
The next day, as Xiao Zheng was about to seek out Lei Gang for a discussion, he heard an urgent whistle blowing as soon as he stepped out.
The prisoners around were slightly stunned, seemingly surprised.
Beside him, Gangzi also wondered aloud, "How could it be today? It shouldn’t be."
"What do you mean by today?" Xiao Zheng asked in confusion.
"The whistle means everyone has to gather for drill. It was initially meant to promote communication between prisoners, but it doesn’t seem effective," Gangzi said with a pout.
"Don’t they go out for exercise every day?" Xiao Zheng asked curiously.
"That’s different. This drill involves all prisoners from the four warehouses of Qingshan Prison gathering together for exercise. It happens a few days each month, but it shouldn’t be today. It’s really strange," Gangzi explained again, confused.
Upon hearing this, Xiao Zheng suddenly had a strange thought. If he guessed right, this unusual action was clearly targeting him!
Now in the North Warehouse, after Xiao Zheng subdued Scar, he’s the boss here. No one in North Warehouse dares to mess with Xiao Zheng.
But it’s different with the other three warehouses; they don’t know Xiao Zheng.
Soon, the assembly was complete.
To the south of North Warehouse, there’s a huge field, the place where prisoners from the four warehouses gather for drill.
However, once all the teams arrived, and the drill began, a peculiar scene unfolded.
The four warehouses didn’t start mingling disorderly as Xiao Zheng imagined. Instead, they formed distinct groups, observing each other.
Beside Xiao Zheng were Scar and some of his men.
Xiao Zheng glanced around at the other three warehouses’ inmates, puzzled as to how they intended to target him under these circumstances.
As if to confirm Xiao Zheng’s thoughts, while he was considering this, he suddenly saw some people slowly splitting off from the three other groups.
