Chapter 1162: Huo Wenshan’s Conspiracy

Chapter 1162: Chapter 1162: Huo Wenshan’s Conspiracy

Lei Gang’s eyes suddenly shot out a terrifying sharp light.

"I don’t quite understand what you mean," he said blandly.

"It’s very simple. You came in here because of Huo Wenshan, and so did I. But what I want isn’t just to get out; I want to deal with Huo Wenshan after I get out. I couldn’t think of a specific way to get to him before, but since you have evidence against him, isn’t this a good method?" Xiao Zheng said with a cheerful smile.

It’s really effortless. Huo Wenshan could never have imagined that once Xiao Zheng entered the prison, he himself was finished.

Lei Gang was even more tempted, but he was still somewhat rational. After a moment of silence, he spoke up, "How can I trust you?"

Indeed, trusting Xiao Zheng based only on his words would be too hasty.

After all, if you think about it, Xiao Zheng could very well be someone Huo Wenshan sent to probe those pieces of evidence.

"You’re not wrong. For now, I won’t ask you to hand over the evidence to me. Once we get out, you’ll see if I lied to you or not," Xiao Zheng assured him.

"Can we really get out?" Lei Gang asked in surprise.

"Since I said I could do it, naturally I will. Don’t worry," Xiao Zheng nodded affirmatively and said.

"But you know, I’ve been in here for so long, I’ve tried every method, yet I haven’t received any news from the outside. Huo Wenshan has completely cut off all my communications," Lei Gang said worriedly.

Xiao Zheng looked a bit embarrassed. He seriously looked at Lei Gang and said, "Although it doesn’t sound quite right, your way of doing things is really too straightforward. If you had beaten up Scar the first day you got in here, he would have been passing messages for you."

It’s true; with Scar’s influence here, relaying messages is no small matter.

But Lei Gang didn’t think so. He didn’t trust these people, and even though he could easily handle them, he never thought of using them to do anything for himself.

He preferred to do everything personally; that was his style.

After saying this, Xiao Zheng got up and left. He knew he had achieved his goal. Now, he just had to wait for the message to be relayed out, wait for the opportunity to get the evidence against Huo Wenshan from Lei Gang, and Huo Wenshan would really be done for.

...

In the warden’s office, the portly warden sat in a plush office chair, looking gloomily out at the prison outside the window.

Beside him, several guards were reporting recent events.

The warden seemed increasingly irritable, extinguishing his cigarette in the ashtray before it was even finished.

"That kid actually has that much capability? Even Scar has submitted to him?" the warden said somewhat oddly.

This Scar, who had reigned over North Warehouse for a long time, wasn’t without challengers, but his large influence and ruthless nature meant those who challenged him usually ended up miserably.

"Yes, I heard he went to see Lei Gang around noon," the tall guard added after thinking for a moment.

Hearing Lei Gang’s name, the warden’s expression changed slightly.

Being an accomplice with Huo Wenshan, he knew a bit about Lei Gang’s situation. Previously, Lei Gang kept to himself and didn’t associate with anyone. But now, Xiao Zheng approaching Lei Gang was quite unusual.

Just then, his phone rang.

The warden looked at the number and frowned, but after a few seconds, he answered.

"Huo Wenshan, didn’t I tell you not to call unless it was important?" the warden said impatiently.

"You think I want to call you? How’s the thing I asked you to do going?" Huo Wenshan’s cold voice said on the other end.

"I’m handling it, don’t rush," the warden said indifferently.

But Huo Wenshan laughed coldly, "Handling? Haha... But I heard that kid Xiao Zheng, not only isn’t being dealt with in prison, but he even subdued Scar, living quite comfortably. Isn’t this contrary to what was planned?"

"How did you know?" The warden’s expression changed slightly, surprised.

"Hmph, never mind how I know, just remember how much money you’ve taken from me, and how many things I’ve done for you. As for Xiao Zheng, deal with him quickly. I didn’t send him to prison to enjoy it there," Huo Wenshan’s voice was evidently impatient.

"What do you want to do?" the warden asked, seemingly having guessed something.

"You know exactly what I want. Remember, deal with it cleanly, leave no loose ends," Huo Wenshan said before hanging up the phone.

The warden’s face turned livid. He slammed his phone down on the table, squinting slightly at the guards beside him.

If he guessed correctly, Huo Wenshan had already started to stretch his eyes toward his subordinates, making the warden very uncomfortable!

"You guys heard what Huo Wenshan just said. Handle it tonight, quietly. Remember, it must be done cleanly. For safety’s sake, use the old method," the warden said coldly, lighting another cigarette.

As smoke billowed around him, he felt uneasy. On one hand because of Huo Wenshan, on the other, because he felt something bad was about to happen, though he couldn’t be sure it wasn’t his imagination.

At night, after lights out, the whole prison quieted down.

Xiao Zheng returned to his upper bunk, calculating in his mind that his message should have already been passed out by Scar. Tomorrow, he would start the next phase of his plan.

In the lower bunk, Gangzi lay there happily munching on snacks. His life had gone smoothly due to Xiao Zheng these past few days.

He was quite aware that had he not impulsively helped Xiao Zheng in the cafeteria the first time, he wouldn’t be receiving such treatment now.

Just then, some strange noises came from the door.

Gangzi turned his head, startled, as a guard sneakily peered inside.

Gangzi hurriedly scrambled to tidy up his bed full of snacks.

The guard saw this but didn’t say anything, looked around, and then pulled out a key to open the iron door of Xiao Zheng and Gangzi’s room.

Gangzi looked at the guard awkwardly and said, "Brother, misunderstanding, it’s all a misunderstanding. Look, I still have lots of things. Is there anything you want to eat?"

Smuggling these items in prison is strictly prohibited, and if discovered, punishment is inevitable.

For someone like Scar, who had a smooth ride in prison, it was no big deal, but for Gangzi, it was a serious issue, which would lead to severe punishment.
