Chapter 334: Determined to Sacrifice The Royal Blood of the Lycans

"Quieten down." Killian snapped at the men behind him. His instincts flared as he realised that there was something amiss. He rose, releasing the man in his hands. He scanned the room.

Something...achoo... something has changed around the room... the air... It’s heavier... and denser... thick with rot and forgotten prayers, his beast sneezed loudly. His sneezes started to get louder and louder with each passing second, which was enough evidence to prove that there was something wrong—very wrong in this motherfucking place.

The beta laughed again. Even though he was slumped on the floor, his voice was loud and heavy. Killian dropped his gaze and looked at the beta whose skin was crawling like a thousand insects were seeking an escape from within his flesh. Around him, the others followed suit; spines bowed, jaws went slack, and eyes rolled around until they turned hauntingly white.

And then it began.

There was no shift. No one shifted into wolves. But a shift nonetheless. Not the beautiful crack of bones reshaping into fur and fangs. Instead, their flesh started to sag, and their skin peeled back like an old parchment. Their jaws dropped and they started to drool. Faces turned oddly grotesque between a wolf and a human. Ash-coloured veins spread under their skin like thunder, but a second later they started to glow. Like golden magma was flowing within their bones.

Their nails curved and twisted into talons resembling claws.

The smell hit them next—sour—like rotting flesh and blood as if they had been dead for ages.

"Goodness gracious," Ajax clutched his pearls as he stared at the crowd in front of him. "Thank the Moon Goddess, you didn’t sleep with that woman, Finn, or else you would have had nightmares for all your life!"

The beautiful Lisa was nowhere to be found; in place of her place stood another woman. Dead and decayed. She no longer looked as beautiful as she did in the afternoon, and Finn raised his hand to wipe his lips, for he had kissed the woman on the back of her hand.

Killian ignored the banter of these fools. Bracing himself, he stepped back. His pulse quickened, but his mind remained sharp as he looked at the people in front of him. They were not wolves, nor were they men. They were something hollow. A vessel of something. Or maybe traces of what was left behind.

The beta staggered to his feet, and his voice broke into a guttural shriek as he twisted his head at an inhumane angle. "We are eternal! We are hers! All Hail the Great One!"

And that was when the banquet hall erupted.

Dozens of them surged forward in unison, and Killian barely dodged the first attack. Their speed was unnaturally fast. They shouldn’t be this fast, and yet they were. They were like marionettes yanked by invisible strings. Their mouths were open in a silent scream as their talon-like claws slashed at Killian and his enforcers.

Killian ducked to one side, and yet the claw somehow managed to graze his back. The wound burned like wolfsbane dropped on an open wound. He could feel his healing being hindered.

As expected, there was something very wrong with this place.

His beast rumbled within him. Pressed right against his surface. As expected, this was a trap to get your blood.

Killian curled his lips and allowed his beast to take over. Behind him, his enforcers shift as well. Blessed by the royal blood of the lycan family, the only heir of the royal blood... Killian’s form was bigger than other lycans. His fur was midnight black, with a subtle glow. Anyone who saw his lycan form would be scared out of their wits. For lycans were terrifying to begin with, and Killian, with his tall and sturdy form, was simply terror incarnate.

Kill them all. Just leave the beta alive. We will need him later on... Killian commanded his shifters as he threw his head back and let out a gut-wrenching roar.

A husk-faced female came at him from the left. Her claw arched toward his throat. And the giant lycan shifted to the right, and Killian caught her between his jaw and, with a deadly crunch, snapped the woman in half. And yet not a single drop of blood was spilt. Instead, her body shuddered and collapsed into a cloud of grey ash, leaving behind the faint echo of a scream. The lycan sneezed, sending the ash flying all over the place.

Four more charged at him, and Killian dodged past them. A good thing too, because just as he rushed past the one on the left, the man snapped his teeth close right where Killian’s neck had been a heartbeat earlier. Killian’s beast pivoted, slammed into the creator and threw him right against the wall. His claws tore open the belly of the man. The skin tore open like he was cutting through paper. And yet the man continued to claw at Killian like he couldn’t feel any pain. He continued hurting Killian until he disintegrated in the air.

’These things cannot feel any pain,’ pointed out Finn as he snapped the spine of a person and watched him turn into a pile of ashes.

Well, duh, given that they are dead and have been for ages, I will be surprised if they can feel any pain, snapped Ajax. He didn’t sound quite happy, given that he had to face something that he was scared of.

Keep focus... they are not close to stopping. Laxus warned before Finn could start another quarrel with Ajax.

He was right.

These people kept coming. Ten. twenty. Thirty... so many that he lost count of how many hollows he had killed.

Killian lashed out with his alpha vibes against whatever these people were, and yet they didn’t submit.

They are dead, Killian said in an eerie, quiet voice. They have been dead for a long time... and yet they are alive... how in the world is that even possible?
