The mobilization meeting lasted until dark.
Jiang Ye did not shout any motivational slogans or feed his subordinates empty platitudes. Instead, he introduced a series of new systems, most of which involved spending money!
First, the military personnel would be expanded again, recruiting soldiers from the upcoming new immigrants, increasing the total to 7,000.
Of the 7,000 soldiers, 2,000 would serve as garrison troops, stationed at military bases and factories outside the major cities.
The remaining 5,000 soldiers would all become pioneering troops, tasked with continuously expanding outwards and opening up new territories!
Every thousand men would form a brigade, every hundred men a company, and every ten men a squad.
Previous military operations involved the entire brigade moving out together.
The advantage of a large army moving out was ample firepower, capable of instantly eliminating any threat.
However, there was a drawback: the expansion speed was too slow.
If any part of the unit encountered an issue, everyone had to halt and wait.
Orders were passed down through the ranks during operations, consuming a lot of time.
Furthermore, drivers of different weapon systems had to coordinate and wait for each other.
In short, various reasons prevented them from moving quickly.
Therefore, Jiang Ye decided to implement a squad-based operation system.
Each squad could independently decide where to pioneer and what to do in the wilderness.
For every square kilometer of territory opened up and its detailed data uploaded, they would receive a subsidy of 50,000 yuan. Squad members would distribute this money among themselves.
If valuable resources were found, such as mineral deposits, rivers, or animal gathering sites, they would receive bonuses ranging from 500,000 to 50 million yuan.
Consequently, the squad leader's duty was to lead his subordinates in charging across the wilderness. The more territory they claimed, the more money they earned, and the greater their chances of promotion in the future.
The company commander's duty was to ensure the supply and distribution of weapons and ammunition, supervise soldier training, and, when individual squads encountered danger, to coordinate and dispatch other squads for support.
The brigade commander's duty, of course, was to directly follow Jiang Ye's command, formulating and executing major policies and overall army strategies.
Naturally, company commanders and brigade commanders also received bonuses. For every 10 yuan earned by their subordinate squads, both the company and brigade commanders would simultaneously receive a 2 yuan reward, with additional special allowances for outstanding performance.
By the end of the mobilization meeting, the officers were almost glowing with excitement!
Many had wanted to operate independently, and unexpectedly, the commander had issued an order allowing them to do so.
After the meeting, seeing that it was late, Jiang Ye did not go home but returned directly to his office to rest.
Isabelle was still sitting at the desk, propping up her chin and processing refugee applications.
"You work hard, I'm going to rest," Jiang Ye said, taking off his coat and getting into the bed in the small office.
Isabelle glared, "Has your conscience been eaten by dogs? I'm here working for you, my back and neck are sore, and you're just lying down to sleep? How can you be so shameless?"
Jiang Ye, exhausted from the day and unable to keep his eyes open, mumbled, "Oh, I'm such a terrible person, I repent, I have sinned."
With that, he fell asleep, his snores even.
Isabelle checked the time. They had agreed to work until eleven o'clock, and it was now ten fifty, with ten minutes left.
She glanced at the screen and impatiently clicked the red 'X' a few times, rejecting several applications without even looking at them.
Then, she pushed her desk away and stood up. Her eyes fixed on the sleeping Jiang Ye, her gaze bright. She began to undress with determination.
She shed her clothes layer by layer, tossing them onto the chair.
Only a white thermal suit remained, its curves clearly visible.
With a sweep of her long hair, Isabelle walked to the bedside with a half-smile. She nudged the blanket with her toe, then gently kicked Jiang Ye, "Scooch over, leave some space for me."
Jiang Ye was sleeping like a log and didn't wake up.
Isabelle bent down, lifted the blanket, and was about to crawl in.
With a "zi la" sound, the door suddenly opened.
Liu Jizi stood at the doorway, his eyes wide, meeting Isabelle's gaze as she was about to crawl into the bed. The atmosphere became extremely awkward.
"I... need to rest," Isabelle said, her face flushing.
"The Commander ordered me to pick you up at eleven o'clock," Liu Jizi said softly, but his tone was firm. "The car is ready to take you home. I'll pick you up again tomorrow morning."
"No need to trouble you, I can rest here for a bit," Isabelle avoided his gaze.
"You cannot!" Liu Jizi suddenly exclaimed, "You can't do this!"
Jiang Ye was startled awake. He looked at Liu Jizi in confusion, then turned to Isabelle, whose leg was already in the blanket, and immediately understood the situation.
"That's right! You can't do this!" Jiang Ye sat up righteously. "Ms. Isabelle, I must consider your reputation. Please return first!"
Isabelle felt the annoyance of a weasel caught stealing a chicken by the watchdog. Full of anger, she kicked Jiang Ye. The kick landed squarely on his stomach, and Jiang Ye let out a hiccup.
Liu Jizi glared at her furiously.
Isabelle put on her coat, walked to the door, and said to Jiang Ye, "Then I'll return. Send someone to pick me up tomorrow morning."
"Have a safe trip, goodnight!" Jiang Ye waved goodbye.
The office door closed, leaving Jiang Ye alone in the room.
However, it was not quiet.
Rumbling sounds echoed one after another.
Jiang Ye threw off the blanket and walked to the window to look down.
The open space was brightly lit. Squads of spider-armored vehicles, electromagnetic rocket launchers, and wing-suit aircraft were assembling. Soldiers with guns ran around in a hurry, with commands and whistles constantly sounding.
"Whoa, that fast?" Jiang Ye smiled.
Undoubtedly, these were the squads preparing to depart for territorial expansion.
Driven by money, the soldiers were so excited they couldn't sleep and wanted to set out immediately.
After all, the earlier they went out, the higher the chance of finding minerals. Those who went out later might not get any share, as the territories would have already been claimed.
As the saying goes, the early bird catches the worm; the bird that doesn't sleep can eat even more.
Jiang Ye watched from the window for a while before returning to bed.
...
Six o'clock in the morning.
The office door was flung open, and Isabelle bustled in, carrying a bag of white, plump steamed buns. She went straight to the bed and sat down, reaching out to press on Jiang Ye's face.
Having just come in from the outdoors, her hands were as cold as ice. Jiang Ye woke up with a startled cry.
"Damn it, an assassin!"
"Assassin my foot! I brought you a big bag of buns, with bullfrog and carrot filling, bullfrog and chive filling, and bullfrog and cabbage filling. Eat them while they're hot." Isabelle had applied bright lipstick and smiled radiantly.
"No, no, I'm sleeping," Jiang Ye covered his face with the blanket and turned to face the wall.
"Hey, hey! I'm doing this out of kindness!" Isabelle kicked him angrily. "I made them at home and brought them over. Is this how you treat me?"
"Who the hell eats bullfrog buns! Are you sick or something? We're different species, our tastes are different. Understanding is key, okay?" Jiang Ye remained unmoved. "I appreciate your kindness, but your taste is despicable."
Isabelle huffed, carrying the bag of buns, and sat behind the desk. While clicking on the screen to continue reviewing refugee applications, she defiantly grabbed a bun, took a large bite, and said, "No taste. If you don't want them, fine, I'll eat them all!"
