"Commander? I was just thinking of you, and you called. Are we telepathic!" Jiang Ye's tone was affectionate.
"Ugh, cut the nauseating act," Li Nannan said. "I have something serious to ask you. Do you want to be a teacher for a few days?"
"A teacher?" Jiang Ye blinked, then his smile turned awkward. "Commander, you know my situation. So many years have passed, and I've already returned all the knowledge from my school days to my teachers, with interest. You want me to teach? Wouldn't that be misleading the youth?"
"The stuff you learned in middle school is too outdated. They definitely won't have you teach that," Li Nannan chuckled. "They'll have you teach what you're good at, like starting wars and conquering planets."
"This..." Jiang Ye was bewildered. "You can teach that too?"
"The planetary leader training class you attended before is opening a branch campus on Cai Liuxing. You know the current situation, the Galactic Empire is expanding rapidly, acquiring a lot of new planets, so there's an urgent need to train a batch of planetary leaders for employment," Li Nannan explained. "My friend is in charge of education, and a few days ago, she was listing potential teachers, so I recommended you. I don't think there'll be any problem."
"This..." Jiang Ye hesitated. "This is all so sudden. I'm still an apprentice myself, and you want me to be a teacher?"
"You are absolutely qualified to be a teacher," Li Nannan stated. "Firstly, you've undergone the Galactic Empire's orthodox training and have a formal background. Secondly, before you studied formally, you were self-taught, or in other words, a practical fighter who rose to the rank of General through your own abilities. Talents like you, with both theoretical foundations and practical experience, are always in high demand. You've published groundbreaking academic papers, you've managed several planets with vastly different circumstances, you've commanded large-scale wars, large-scale disaster relief, large-scale economic reforms, large-scale social reforms, and large-scale environmental modifications. If we were to analyze you using the hexagonal attribute system from a game interface, you'd be a standard hexagonal warrior."
"Commander, you're praising me too much. You're making me sound so impressive that I'm almost embarrassed," Jiang Ye let out a dry chuckle.
"You *are* impressive! Jiang Ye, you're not just anyone! You're the unique talent I've valued for so many years!" Li Nannan showered him with praise, launching sugar-coated bullets without restraint. "So don't be overly modest. Think about it, come and be a teacher."
Jiang Ye bit his lip in consideration.
If it were to teach in an ordinary school, that would be an absolute no. It would be a complete waste of time, something he'd only consider doing if he wanted to retire many years from now.
But teaching planetary leaders was different.
This was an excellent opportunity to invest in the future!
The entire class would be composed of the leaders of various planets. Developing a mentor-student relationship, perhaps even directly recruiting some of these students to his side – such a vast, hidden resource exchange was undeniably tempting.
"This is a great opportunity for you to develop your influence," Li Nannan continued to persuade. "A single class brings together the leaders of dozens of planets, all calling you 'teacher.' Just imagine! Why are you hesitating about such an opportunity? You can't buy it even with money, and I worked hard to get it for you!"
"Then I'll try giving some lectures," Jiang Ye said. "Do you have the specific details? Like where to teach, what to teach, and the schedule?"
"They're still finalizing it. The school is under construction, but I estimate it will be soon," Li Nannan replied. "Don't worry, it won't take up too much of your time. Besides, any amount of time spent on such an opportunity is worth it!"
The call ended.
In the following days, Jiang Ye busied himself with studying.
He dug out his old textbooks from the planetary leader training and spent his days memorizing them.
His wife was a top student, so Jiang Ye repeatedly called Cen Yemeng, asking her all sorts of questions, even requesting her to conduct online classes via video.
Cen Yemeng did start video calls, but instead of teaching properly, she often engaged in suggestive content, teasing her husband with great enthusiasm.
Jiang Ye gave up on getting academic help from his wife and decided to study diligently on his own.
Drawing on his past school experiences, he listed various subjects he might be asked to teach and then frantically organized materials for each potential course.
A week later, Li Nannan called again.
The planetary leader training school on Cai Liuxing was completed.
Jiang Ye's position was that of a specially appointed lecturer.
The school hadn't assigned Jiang Ye specific courses to teach, instead giving him the freedom to teach whatever he wished.
Jiang Ye felt a sense of relief. Writing an essay with a specific topic was difficult, but an essay with no topic was incredibly easy.
The class schedule was also unique.
A new batch of training classes would start every month, with no days off. Classes ran from Monday to Sunday. Jiang Ye was required to teach one class per day to a single cohort.
Unless there was a major issue, he couldn't miss a class and had to teach for a full month consecutively.
However, Jiang Ye could choose which month to teach and could also choose to lead multiple cohorts in his chosen month.
If he wanted a more relaxed schedule, he could teach for just one month a year. If he felt passionate about teaching, he could teach year-round without breaks.
He could choose to teach just one cohort or up to four cohorts simultaneously, filling his schedule.
The teaching fee was one million per lecture, paid by the Galactic Empire. This price was practically a bargain. People of Jiang Ye's status didn't care about a mere million; it was a symbolic remuneration.
In addition to regular lectures, he could also choose to give lectures.
These lectures were scheduled from 8:00 PM to 10:30 PM local time, and he could give them daily, with ample lecture halls available.
However, giving lectures didn't guarantee a student turnout. The lecture halls could be packed, or there might only be a few attendees, depending entirely on the speaker's appeal.
The remuneration for lectures was even lower, eight hundred thousand per lecture, which was practically pocket change.
After a brief period of deliberation, Jiang Ye decided to immediately sign up for the first month of lectures.
He wanted to try lecturing first, especially since the school was new, with both students and teachers being new. Even if his teaching skills were poor, it would be easy to muddle through. But if he didn't go now, and waited six months or a year for the school to mature and other teachers to become seasoned, he would be ridiculed by his peers and students if he stumbled through his lectures.
Jiang Ye decided to take on two cohorts for this month, filling the two morning slots from 8:00 AM until 11:40 AM.
This way, in the afternoons and evenings, Jiang Ye could still remotely handle his work, especially since Spiral Star was preparing to launch its first wave of immigration, making it impossible for him to completely step away from his duties.
This trip was about gaining teaching experience. Teaching just one cohort wouldn't provide much, but two cohorts should be sufficient.
