Jiang Ye returned to the Spiral Fleet.
Walking down the corridor towards his office, he smelled alcohol at a corner and reacted instinctively, "Hua Qing!"
After a few steps, he indeed saw Hua Qing at the corner, staring blankly at Jiang Ye, "Commander, how did you know I was passing by?"
"The smell of alcohol," Jiang Ye smiled. "Come to my office at two o'clock this afternoon and organize the progress on Spiral Star for me."
Hua Qing raised his sleeve and sniffed, "Does it smell that strongly of alcohol? I didn't drink much today... Commander Cen is here."
Jiang Ye immediately stopped, "Where is she?"
"She just arrived. I saw her enter your office," Hua Qing said.
"Alright, I know."
Jiang Ye quickened his pace and jogged to the office at the end of the corridor, pushing the door open.
The beautiful woman in the black long dress sat upright at the desk, holding a document and reading it seriously. Her slender hair cascaded down her smooth face, and her fair calves extended from beneath the skirt, a truly captivating sight.
"Husband!" Cen Yemeng put down the document and opened her arms.
Jiang Ye immediately went over, hugged her, carried her to the chair behind the desk, and gave her two pecks.
"Why did you come over so suddenly? You didn't even tell me," Jiang Ye sat on the desk, looking at his wife with a smile.
"To check on your post. How can a surprise inspection have its news leaked in advance?" Cen Yemeng smiled and took out an envelope from her pocket.
Jiang Ye suddenly understood. It was another report from their son on his undercover visit.
Cen Yemeng reached out and grabbed Jiang Ye's arm, pulling him into her embrace. Then she opened the envelope, and the couple read the letter together.
"Dear Mom and Dad:"
"Things have been quite chaotic lately, so this letter might be a bit chaotic too. I'll try my best to write it in an organized manner."
"I spent a month on the Exile Star and obtained a tour guide license. I joined a small travel company as a tour guide and worked there for about twenty days."
"The tourism industry on Exile Star is shockingly prosperous. Some of my colleagues bought shares related to tourism two years ago and got rich quickly by catching the upward trend, buying three-story villas. After I joined, I read an industry report, and there is currently a shortage of 500,000 tour guides on Exile Star. Many tour guides work more than 80 hours a week, and their overtime pay is more than eight hundred yuan per hour."
"Consequently, training institutions for tour guide licenses are also emerging like mushrooms after rain. Even when I was leading a tour, there were several new immigrants in the group. They recorded my explanations of the attractions throughout the entire journey and asked me about obtaining a tour guide license whenever they had time, with expressions very much like eager students."
"The tour line I led was a week-long tour, covering three cities and visiting 14 attractions."
"The attractions with war ruins were, to be honest, a bit intimidating, because many of the so-called war ruins were man-made props. Every night, a factory nearby was responsible for renovating the props. The workers inside were poor young people who couldn't get into college, with dyed hair, ear piercings, tattoos, and a history of fighting."
"One attraction was the ruins of an old factory from Exile Star's past, which was very interesting. It documented the living conditions of the native inhabitants before we arrived on Exile Star. I was deeply impressed by a small table placed at the entrance of the factory's restrooms, between the men's and women's restrooms. In those days, an old man or an old woman would sit behind the table. Whoever went to the restroom during work hours would have their entry and exit times recorded. The attraction also hired an old man as a commentator, who was said to be the restroom attendant back then. The old man would tell tourists about his life back then every day, mentioning how some workers would secretly give him tobacco and white sugar to shorten the recorded time for their bathroom breaks."
"There were also some natural landscapes. My favorite was Crab Island. The waters around that island were full of crabs of all sorts of strange shapes. All I had to do was bring the tour group there, give everyone a pair of rain boots, a small bucket, and long tongs, and then I was free. Almost everyone in the tour group would enthusiastically catch crabs, spending four hours doing so. The crabs they caught could be taken away or sold to the attraction at a low price. In reality, most of those crabs were artificially released. There were remotely controlled large cages in the waters around the island, and when the cages opened, a swarm of crabs would crawl onto the island."
"During my time as a tour guide, I had many romantic encounters. I am sure that in terms of appearance, or personal charm, I am indeed outstanding, although I don't feel it at all."
"The first time I led a tour, while checking in at the hotel lobby, I met a female tour guide from a neighboring tour group. She had tanned skin and a fit, statuesque figure. She looked at me from a distance for a few seconds, then walked straight over and asked me directly if she could come to my room that night, or if I could go to her room. I was startled and at a loss."
"When I led the second tour, there was a pair of twins in the group. They had a melancholic aura and looked perpetually unhappy, but they were very beautiful. On the third night, one of them knocked on my room door in the middle of the night, wearing a silk pajama. I still don't know which one it was; they looked exactly the same."
"In the third week, I wasn't leading a tour but was doing training work at the company. Our boss's wife worked in the same office as me and frequently gave me flirtatious glances. At the end of the third week, she invited me to swim with her over the weekend, at the famous Lovers' Beach. I refused and then resigned."
"Dominica's birthday was coming up, so I flew over to attend her birthday party. She had already gained some status. Many students from families with backgrounds at university attended the birthday party. They were all elegantly dressed and spoke with sophistication, creating an atmosphere of a socialite gathering. However, those so-called noble scions didn't know my true identity and thought I was just an ordinary classmate, so no one spoke to me throughout the event, except for a few girls who asked for my contact information."
"When the birthday party ended, it was already ten o'clock at night. Many young masters wanted to stay and help Dominica clean up, but she refused them all. Instead, she secretly messaged me to stay and help with the cleaning. I continued cleaning until half-past eleven, then took my leave. Dominica seemed a bit disappointed, and I felt she might have hoped I would stay the night, but that was impossible."
"At the birthday party, many people were discussing their academic experiences. Many of them were immigrants who paid to get into prestigious high schools and then were admitted to university. For some reason, I suddenly had the idea of attending high school for three years. After all, secondary education was still a missing piece for me. That kind of life filled with rote learning was an important part of life, and I felt it was necessary to make up for it."
"I asked Uncle Shao Wan to handle all the identity procedures for me. I used the fake name Jiang Haiyang and enrolled in the first year of high school at Anhe City No. 1 Middle School."
"After entering high school, I encountered many unexpected things."
"For example, in the first week of classes, a family situation survey form was distributed, requiring the parents' names, phone numbers, workplaces, and positions, as well as home addresses, and so on."
