Who is Xu Ruina? And what about this clone...
Sherry asked curiously.
I'm not too sure about the clone, but Xu Ruina's story is a long one!
Zhang Chen recounted the whole story to Sherry.
You... actually know natives?
I've been surviving in the apocalypse for so long, and I've only heard legends about the natives. I never thought they hadn't gone extinct and were actually real!
Sherry exclaimed in surprise.
Who would have thought that a wailer was a native who had become so due to failed experiments!
If she hadn't encountered Zhang Chen, she might have been blasted to ashes on the spot.
If that were the case, none of the subsequent events would have happened.
"Well, when we get to Xinlan City, I'll introduce you!"
Zhang Chen said with a smile.
The train continued to move forward rapidly.
At noon, the train arrived punctually at the third walled city, Xinlan City.
The station in Xinlan City was much grander than that in Bengkou City.
Previously, they had to walk to the edge of the tunnel and then board the train.
But here, perhaps because the city had been in the hands of the natives for a long time, a station had been specially built.
There were seats for waiting passengers, as well as vending machines.
Nearby were defensive fortifications for troop encampment.
What surprised Zhang Chen was that the city's power system was still functioning normally, and the entire platform was brightly lit.
The platform was clean, with no garbage or debris. Of course, there was no one there either.
It was empty, with nothing.
Occasionally, a broken light tube flickered, intermittently.
This added to the desolation of the entire station.
"We've arrived! Let's get off!"
Zhang Chen was the first to disembark from the train.
The 99 clones also gradually stood in the open space, waiting for further instructions.
The food and drinks in the vending machines had all been bought out.
There were some dried bloodstains on the walls, which had turned black.
Following the signs leading out of the platform, on the stairs and walls, dried bloodstains and unidentifiable internal organs were everywhere.
Bloody handprints were visible all over the glass doors at the exit.
There were many fragments of walls on the ground, as well as wood chips blown apart by explosions.
It seemed that a brutal battle had occurred here many days ago, and it was likely a one-sided slaughter.
However, judging by the scale of the battle, it was likely between Awakened individuals.
"Master, there's a living person on this floor!"
Sherry suddenly said.
"Huh?"
Zhang Chen looked at Sherry in surprise.
"My assassination talent allows me to sense nearby survivors. I sense a survivor in the restroom!"
Sherry said in a low voice.
Zhang Chen glanced in the direction of the restroom, and sure enough, a prompt appeared at the entrance:
[There is a trembling survivor here. She may know a lot about Xinlan City!]
"Go take a look and bring her here!"
Zhang Chen instructed.
"Yes, Master!"
Sherry nodded and slowly walked towards the restroom.
As soon as she entered the restroom, a sharp scream from a woman was heard.
It wasn't Sherry's scream, but likely from the trembling survivor.
A moment later, Sherry, pulling by the hair, dragged a naked blonde woman out of the restroom.
The latter struggled weakly on the ground with her bare legs, kicking.
But her efforts were insignificant against Sherry's absolute strength.
"I'm sorry, Master, she was very uncooperative, so I had to do this!"
After speaking, Sherry lifted a foot and stepped on the woman's back.
This was to prevent her from suddenly attacking Zhang Chen.
"No need, she's just a terrified woman with only peak physical strength!"
Zhang Chen looked at the woman with his Insight Eye and said to Sherry.
"Understood, Master!"
Sherry then lifted her foot and stepped aside.
In the apocalypse, caution is paramount.
Although Sherry's approach was a bit crude, her intentions were good.
"Who are you, and what do you want? Did Robert send you to find me? But... I don't remember seeing you?"
The woman, terrified, curled into a ball, hugging her knees and muttering to herself.
Xiaobai looked at the woman's disheveled state and asked curiously.
"Dad, why isn't this sister wearing clothes? Is she too hot?"
"This... she was bullied and her clothes were stolen!" Zhang Chen replied with a hint of embarrassment.
"Wow, there are still such bad people, who specialize in stealing other people's clothes?"
Xiaobai said indignantly.
"Yes, there are all kinds of people in the world. There are good people and bad people, and some who look like good people are actually bad people...
And some who look like bad people are actually good people... Anyway, you'll understand when you grow up!"
Zhang Chen looked at the bewildered Xiaobai and knew he had explained it too complicatedly.
These things required supporting examples for Xiaobai to understand more thoroughly.
Dry explanations like this were indeed difficult to comprehend.
"Oh..."
Xiaobai nodded thoughtfully.
Seeing that Zhang Chen and the others weren't further assaulting or trying to kill her, the woman's emotions gradually calmed down. She mustered her courage and asked in a hoarse voice:
"Do you... have any food? I haven't eaten anything for three days..."
"Here's a bottle of water and a packet of biscuits. Eat them first!"
Zhang Chen handed her the food and water.
Upon seeing the water, the woman immediately gulped down more than half the bottle.
Then, she struggled to tear open the biscuit packet and ate them ravenously.
It was as if if she ate any slower, someone would snatch them from her.
After eating for a while, she seemed to have choked and quickly started drinking water again.
In a short while, the biscuits and water were all gone.
She even picked up the biscuit crumbs that had fallen on the ground and ate them all.
"Thank you, thank you..."
The woman thanked Zhang Chen and instinctively covered her sensitive areas with her hands.
Zhang Chen took out a tracksuit for the woman to wear, and then asked:
"Why were you hiding in the restroom? Where are the other survivors?"
The woman gave a wry smile and said:
"I don't know. Maybe they're all dead, or maybe they're still alive... But even if they're alive, it's not necessarily better than being dead..."
Zhang Chen frowned and asked:
"Were you attacked by monsters?"
The woman first shook her head, then quickly nodded. She seemed to recall a traumatic past and said through gritted teeth:
"It was an attack by a monster, yes. He was indeed a monster, and this monster was more cunning and cruel than any other. The most ironic thing is that this monster was cultivated by ourselves!"
Sherry asked curiously:
"You cultivate monsters? Does this city have equipment that can create monsters, and you happen to control it?!"
The woman laughed self-mockingly a few times and said:
"It has nothing to do with the city, it's our problem!
And the thing that creates monsters has always been in all of our hands. You have it too!"
As she spoke, the woman shook the ring in her hand.
"It's this!"
