The scribe paused, looking at Zheng Hao hesitantly. He asked cautiously, "Should I continue reading the rest of what he said? About leading humanity to survive in the apocalypse, helping survivor camps grow, and so on?"
Zheng Hao let out a cold laugh and said, "Heh, leading us to grow? Is there really such a great philanthropist in the world? Do you believe it? I certainly don't!"
The scribe chuckled and shook his head gently. "What I know is that growth comes from oneself; no one else can help!"
Zheng Hao nodded and continued, "Exactly. The apocalypse itself is a school, a school that teaches us the laws of nature. Those who learn and skillfully apply these rules will survive. Survivors who don't learn, or learn but don't act, will be eliminated!"
"Besides, why would anyone be so idle? Wouldn't it be better to focus on their own growth? Anyway, I don't believe a single punctuation mark of what the guy with the dark red ring says."
When Zheng Hao finished, the scribe, confirming he was allowed to continue, said, "The next part is a bit strange. This guy confidently said that after the mutated giant rats attacked, it would be the mutated plants, and then 12 hours later, the vampire bats..."
"But it's been more than 12 hours since the mutated plant attack and Wang Daifu was captured, and we haven't seen any vampire bats attack. He got the first wave of prophecy right, but the second wave was a miss."
Zheng Hao swirled his wine glass, the light refracting through the wine, casting a brilliant ruby color that illuminated his face. After a moment, Zheng Hao said slowly, "Perhaps it wasn't a prophecy at all; the first wave of attack was his doing!"
"I suspect this guy can attract mutated creatures through some kind of item, very possibly the creature attractant in his ring!"
"And this attraction has a pattern. He just needs to speak according to the pattern, and that's what he calls prophecy!"
"It seems he's done this sort of thing before!"
Zheng Hao gently placed the glass on the table and stood up. Everything was precious in the apocalypse now. Food and water were obvious, but even wine glasses were now cherished items. When supplies were abundant before, everyone focused on food and water, and no one paid attention to vessels like wine glasses. This was one of Zheng Hao's few wine glasses, and he had to be careful.
Zheng Hao slowly walked over to Wang Daifu, picked up the creature attractant, and asked, "How do you use this?" Before the other could speak, he immediately extended his finger to cover the man's mouth and then said menacingly, "Think carefully before answering my question!"
"Don't say something foolish like using it all at once; I'm not that stupid!"
"You need to understand that if you can precisely control each wave of creatures to be within the strength range I require, according to my requests..."
"Then you will be very valuable to me. At the very least, I can let you live with dignity until the attractant runs out, providing you with food and water!"
"But if you deliberately deceive me..."
"Well, it's not much. We're not the ones tied up here, are we!"
"If the enemy is too strong, we can just retreat. But some people aren't so flexible and can only watch as the monsters tear them apart piece by piece!"
Hearing this, Wang Daifu envisioned the scenes of being tormented, gnawed, and torn apart by those monsters, and a shiver ran down his spine.
"I... I can cooperate with you..."
"But I have a request!" Wang Daifu said, his voice hoarse.
"Let's hear it!" Zheng Hao said with a smile. He had no intention of making a deal with a prisoner; the man talking was purely out of curiosity.
"The consequences of betraying an organization are dire, so I want to join your camp!"
"I believe you are the team with the greatest hope of defeating the Kui organization..." Wang Daifu's one eye was so swollen he couldn't open it, but his other eye gazed at Zheng Hao with determination.
"Kui? Aren't you the Prophet Organization?" Zheng Hao asked curiously.
"The Prophet Organization was destroyed long ago. The last two members were vaporized by Gromos's energy blast!"
"Kui destroyed the Prophet Organization. They impersonated the Prophet Organization and devoured many other camps. They are now infamous among survivors, which is why they've turned their attention to your batch of newcomers."
"My mission was to train all of you into beginner evolutionaries, and then the organization would send strong individuals to harvest you. After all, I trained you, so I know your skills, strength, and tactics, and your strength is within a controllable range."
"Simply put, Kui wants to raise a batch of survivors, and once they reach a certain level, they will be slaughtered."
"This way, they can achieve the greatest harvest of crystal cores with the least cost and time investment," Wang Daifu explained everything.
"Strange, aren't members of the organization absolutely loyal to their leader? How could you betray the organization?" Zheng Hao asked with a puzzled look.
"That's right, organization members indeed cannot betray the organization, but trash like me with my strength has no chance of entering the Kui organization!"
"Only if I complete this mission will I be eligible for consideration, and even then, it's not guaranteed. Now that the members of the Kui organization haven't awakened, let's get stronger quickly, and then I'll feed them false information. We can work from the inside and outside to take them down!"
"When that happens, our strength will advance by leaps and bounds again!" Wang Daifu said eagerly.
"Yes, that's indeed a good plan. However, to ensure your sincerity, I need you to write down the usage method of the attractant, as well as the strength and attack characteristics of each wave of monsters!" Zheng Hao said.
"This..." Wang Daifu hesitated. This was his life-saving item; if he wrote it all down, wouldn't he lose his value?
Sensing his hesitation, Zheng Hao smiled and said, "I know your concerns. How about this: you don't need to write everything, just the next three waves of attacks."
"As long as your predictions for these three waves are accurate, I will release you, and our cooperation will take effect immediately!"
"Then... alright!" Wang Daifu nodded and told the scribe everything he knew.
"Did you get it all down?" Zheng Hao turned and asked the scribe.
"Yes, I've recorded everything. He was very detailed. I believe with this, we can formulate countermeasures in advance and defeat the monster onslaught!" the scribe said.
"Good, very good!" Zheng Hao waved his hand and slit Wang Daifu's throat. The latter looked on in disbelief as he slowly turned into white mist.
"Three waves are enough. We'll figure out the rest ourselves. I have no intention of being your pawn and fighting the Kui organization to the death!"
"When my strength is sufficient, I will naturally seek them out!" Zheng Hao said indifferently, a sinister curve forming on his lips.
