"Why would the person you possessed appear here?" Shirley asked, her expression one of surprise.
"I don't know. He died after I completed the possession," Mo Ran replied. "I have no idea why I'm here either!"
"It's a pity he's dead. Otherwise, if I possessed him again, I might be able to find the answer!" Mo Ran shook her head, also looking perplexed.
Shirley scanned the jars one by one, and soon stopped in front of one. "Look, doesn't this boy resemble that man we just saw?"
Upon hearing her voice, Mo Ran hurried over. Several jars in this area, over a dozen, were relatively well-preserved, containing boys and girls around fifteen or sixteen years old. Indeed, one boy's features bore a resemblance to the person Mo Ran had pointed out earlier.
"These jars are so creepy... and I feel a chill in the air, it's quite eerie!" Shirley glanced around nervously. In truth, before entering, she had already surveyed the entire area. This was merely a psychological effect, her own mind playing tricks on her.
After a moment, Shirley forced herself to calm down. After all, besides herself, only Mo Ran was present. Although Mo Ran possessed strong combat abilities, her mindset was still that of a child. Therefore, many matters relied on her. If she panicked now, their trip here would be in vain, and they would miss out on crucial information.
"Mo Ran, what do you think... could it be like this?" Shirley mused. "Actually, these natives are quite cunning. They produced batches of clones to assist them with experiments and other tasks! This way, even if a clone encountered danger and died, they could quickly produce another batch to replace it!"
"Otherwise... I can't imagine why the natives would destroy personal data as important information!" Shirley frowned in analysis. "After all, even if we saw their personal data, if we couldn't find them, it would all be for naught."
"Clones... what are those?" Mo Ran tilted her head and asked.
Shirley quickly gave Mo Ran a basic explanation. Although Mo Ran didn't understand everything, she grasped the general idea.
"With the natives' scientific and technological capabilities, they can create infected bodies themselves. Clones are just a minor matter!" Shirley stated with certainty. "Therefore... this is likely a clone production base!"
"Hmm... that seems to make some sense!" Mo Ran nodded, trying to recall. "Perhaps because of this, the native I possessed had no information about the base's location in his memory. Because they are clones, they had no memory of the base's location, but they saw the gate of the base, hence the memory of the base's entrance!"
Shirley clapped her hands. "Exactly, if that's the case, everything makes sense! We'll take the important data from here and report this information to the Master. It's very likely that all the people we killed before were clones, and the real natives never showed themselves! Especially this Xu Linna... I feel that she holds a significant secret!"
Shirley subconsciously touched the dark red ring. She had stored all the personal data, including Xu Linna's almost completely burned information, into the ring.
"Mmm, mission accomplished. I didn't expect this mission to go so smoothly!" Mo Ran said with a smile. Going on missions was like playing a game for her; completing a mission was equivalent to winning the game, and her happiness was evident.
The two climbed out from underground and had just returned to the museum when they heard a shout. At the museum's entrance, Qing Feng stood alone, blocking the way. From dozens of meters away, over a hundred Neon survivors were gathered.
"What? Your schemes didn't work, so now you're resorting to robbery?" Qing Feng snorted.
Just as Mo Ran and Shirley prepared to rush over to support him, Qing Feng suddenly clutched his left leg, hobbled a couple of steps, and blocked the museum's entrance. Then, he turned his head and gave Shirley a meaningful glance, signaling them not to come out.
Shirley understood immediately, pulling Mo Ran back into the depths of the museum. She found a chair and sat down, observing the situation at the entrance from a distance.
"Is this big brother injured? There are so many people outside, can he handle it by himself?" Mo Ran asked, sitting on the chair.
"This big brother's injury is faked. With the strength of those people outside, they couldn't possibly harm him!" Shirley said with a smile. "He's feigning weakness to draw out more enemies, and he might even deliberately lose and be captured, then follow the enemy back to their lair to wipe out their entire camp in one go!"
"Ah... you can do that too! Why not just ask them directly about the camp's location!" Mo Ran said, somewhat confused.
"You have the ability to read memories, but we don't, so we have to use a few tricks!" As Shirley finished speaking, indeed, several Neon people charged forward aggressively, pinning Qing Feng to the ground. They then efficiently bound him securely, and two people carried him away.
"Wow, he was really captured, then... what should we do?" Since Mo Ran knew Qing Feng was faking, she was no longer worried.
"Let's wait for him to rendezvous here. He probably won't take too long!" Shirley said.
"Is that so..." Mo Ran sat on the chair and waited for a while. It was too boring; nothing around her was captivating, and time seemed to drag on.
A moment later, Mo Ran suddenly grabbed Shirley's arm, a mischievous grin on her face. "Sister Shirley, can I smell that fragrant thing of yours again?"
"Just one sniff, otherwise it's too boring!" At first, Shirley resolutely refused, but unable to resist Mo Ran's persistent pleas, she reluctantly took out the glass jar containing the biological attractant. With a cautious expression, she said, "This thing must never be opened. The smell inside will attract monsters!"
"Don't worry, I won't open it!" Mo Ran nodded obediently and said.
Shirley cast a helpless look at Mo Ran, then took out the biological attractant from her ring. As soon as it was out, Mo Ran's eyes lit up, and she inhaled deeply.
"Ah, it smells so good, really so fragrant!" Mo Ran stared intently at the glass bottle. Before she could finish speaking, a "click" sound was heard! The bottle containing the biological attractant instantly shattered!
It turned out the natives' traps were layered. Inside the biological attractant was a miniature thermal-sensitive bomb. Once someone touched the bottle and it sensed heat, it would immediately explode! Because Shirley had touched the fuse initially and then directly placed the bottle into her ring. In the ring's space, time was frozen. However, upon taking it out, the bomb once again sensed body heat, causing it to explode instantly.
Soon, rustling sounds from afar approached, and dense crowds surged around the museum!
