"Free fire, shoot!"
The general waved his hand, and dense gunfire erupted from the positions.
Zombies of carbon-based life were as fragile as could be in the face of bullets.
Yet, their vitality was extraordinarily tenacious. Even when their bodies were torn to shreds, as long as their brains remained intact, they would continue to crawl forward with their mangled remains.
Moreover, the survivors knew very well that, often, these crawling zombies were far more dangerous than the rapidly running ones.
This was because while normal zombies ran fast, their targets were obvious and could be quickly eliminated.
Crawling zombies, however, moved slowly, making them easily overlooked by survivors.
At any moment, they could launch a surprise attack from a blind spot in your vision.
Furthermore, their attacks were aimed at legs, ankles, and other areas that were difficult to defend.
However, facing the zombie horde now, the army couldn't afford to consider such nuances.
A dense barrage of bullets rained down like a torrent.
On the opposite side, one batch of flesh and blood would rot, only for a new batch to charge forward.
What was even more terrifying was that zombies continuously poured out of the white phosphorus smoke, and the frontline was slowly but surely encroaching upon the positions.
As the pale, ferocious faces of the zombies became increasingly clear, the soldiers gritted their teeth, their rifle barrels glowing hot, and continued to fire madly.
They knew that this was their last day in this world.
If they were to die, they would die with purpose, taking several more zombies with them as a farewell gift!
Soon, the zombies swarmed onto the positions, completely encircling the armored vehicles and tanks. They turned the soldiers behind the fortifications into zombies one by one, then continued to roar and surge madly towards the research institute.
Chen Xiao, leading a dozen or so ability users, stood with grim determination on the last remaining passage leading to the research institute.
"Chen Xiao, you always have a plan to get us out of trouble. Now that we're facing life or death, you better think of something!"
A burly man urged him in a rough voice.
"Yeah, Chen Xiao, you're not planning to drag us here to die, are you... The army couldn't hold them back, so what can we do with just us few...?"
"Damn it, did you guys see that? There are behemoth zombies in the horde, and not just one. We're finished!"
"That's right. Against that thing... even if we all attack together with good luck, we might barely kill one... But with three or four of them coming at once, it's impossible to deal with..."
The zombie horde's momentum had significantly weakened after the military's resistance.
However, it still surged like a tide in all directions, wantonly tearing apart any living thing it encountered.
The entire city instantly plunged into a scene of carnage.
In the center of the three or four behemoth zombies, there was a vacuum zone.
Within it, a female zombie, with her head bowed and long hair obscuring her face, was slowly walking towards the research institute.
"Is... is that a vengeful spirit zombie?! Even that thing has shown up?! We might as well go back to sleep!"
Upon seeing the vengeful spirit zombie, one of the ability users' legs began to tremble uncontrollably.
"This guy is not only impervious to blades and bullets, but even artillery shells can't kill it. It's also incredibly fast and can induce hallucinations. It's simply an unsolvable existence!"
A female ability user said nervously.

The burly man roared, grabbed his great axe, and charged towards the distant zombie horde.
"We have to go help him, he can't do it alone!"

The ability users around him were falling into despair.

But now, facing a zombie horde, they needed to ensure they could survive without getting injured and still maintain sufficient stamina.

Suddenly, about two to three hundred meters in the sky, a spatial rift slowly opened.
Immediately after, a man plummeted directly from the rift towards the zombie horde!
"They're here!"
Chen Xiao's eyes brightened. He had finally waited.
"There really are parallel worlds!?"
"But then again, he's unlucky. Falling from that height, unless he has the ability to fly, he's definitely dead!"
"Even if he survives, the horde below, the behemoth zombies, and the vengeful spirit... he'll probably die even more miserably!"
The few of them said to each other.
"No, you will all come to know what true gods are!"
Chen Xiao said smugly, as if he knew everything about what was about to happen!

A tremendous impact sound echoed.
Then, several meters of soil and dust were kicked up from the ground, the road itself cracked, and a large crater was formed.
Swish!
Then, for reasons unknown.
An invisible force, emanating from the point of impact as its center, surged outwards in all directions.
Any zombie caught in its radius instantly turned into a cloud of white mist and vanished.
In just over ten seconds, millions of zombies in the city were reduced to wisps of hazy mist...
A gentle breeze blew, and as the mist gradually dispersed...
