Chapter 106 Midnight Scare, Unyielding Spirit

"Niu Gang jumped into the sea," I said.

Bai Hanyan froze for a moment, then snorted coldly, "Serves him right! scum like that is a waste of air."

I shook my head helplessly, unable to say anything to her.

After all, Niu Gang was not a good person. If I hadn't stopped him in time, Bai Hanyan's life would have been ruined.

"If you're scared tonight, you can come sleep in my bed in our room," I said.

Bai Hanyan dismissively replied, "I'm not scared! Besides, who wants to sleep in your bed?"

"Alright then, I'm a bit tired, I'll go get some rest."

Back in my room, I asked Song Bing what he thought about Niu Gang jumping into the sea.

He said, "Old Yuan was right. People like him have a much stronger will to survive than ordinary people. He wouldn't just give up so easily."

"So, you mean he was really swept away by the waves?"

"I'm not sure. None of us were there, so we don't know how big the waves were... But even the biggest waves couldn't sweep someone off the deck."

As Song Bing was speaking, the ship suddenly began to shake. I, sitting on the bed, almost fell to the ground.

The violent shaking clearly indicated we had encountered waves.

It lasted for quite a while before gradually subsiding.

I muttered, "This storm couldn't have come at a worse time..."

There was nothing to do on the ship to pass the time, so I could only lie on the bed and let my mind wander.

For some reason, Sister Ying was like a curse, constantly lingering in my mind. Sometimes I even doubted if she truly existed.

If I hadn't met Wang Yang, Sister Ying would have probably stayed in my memory for only three to five years, and then slowly faded away.

But now, knowing the meaning of that tattoo, I felt like I was completely drawn in. I always felt like I could see her again.

Dazed, I felt a wave of sleepiness wash over me and soon fell asleep.

About halfway through my sleep, I felt my body shaking. At first, I thought it was the ship encountering waves. Slowly opening my eyes, I realized it was Bai Hanyan.

She looked at me with a terrified expression, her face pale.

"What's wrong?" I asked, slowly sitting up.

"I... I... I saw..."

Her expression was anxious and fearful, and she couldn't articulate anything for a long time.

Song Bing, sitting on his own bed, took a sip of water and said, "Miss Bai said she saw Niu Gang."

I was startled, and my confused thoughts immediately cleared up. "You saw Niu Gang?"

Bai Hanyan nodded repeatedly.

"Where?" I asked.

She shook her head vigorously.

I was confused.

Bai Hanyan grabbed my hand. I felt her hand was ice cold, likely due to extreme fright.

Could it be that Niu Gang went to her room again, intending to harm her?

If that were the case, wouldn't that mean Niu Gang hadn't jumped into the sea, but was hiding?

Just as I thought my guess was correct, Bai Hanyan's words made me momentarily unable to react.

"Niu Gang... is dead... I saw his ghost..."

I blinked twice, came back to my senses, and couldn't help but burst into laughter. "You saw Niu Gang's ghost?"

"It's true!" Bai Hanyan said, getting anxious because I didn't believe her.

"Miss Bai, you didn't have a nightmare, did you?"

"I wasn't dreaming!" Bai Hanyan gritted her teeth. "Why don't you believe me?!"

Seeing her about to get angry, I quickly said, "Okay, tell me where you saw Niu Gang? We'll go take a look."

"In the bathroom of my room..." she said, still trembling with fear.

"The bathroom? This room's bathroom is so small, it's cramped with just one person in it. How could he be inside?"

"In the mirror!"

"Are you sure you didn't see wrong?"

Bai Hanyan nodded. "I'm sure I didn't see wrong... I went to the restroom, washed my face, and when I looked up, I saw... a... a face with seven orifices bleeding..."

Hearing her say that, I couldn't help but shiver.

I glanced at Song Bing, wanting to ask him what he thought about this.

"I already went to check. There was nothing in the mirror," Song Bing said. "Perhaps Miss Bai is too stressed and saw something incorrectly."

Bai Hanyan insisted, "I really didn't see wrong!"

Seeing her repeated insistence, I said, "Alright, I'll go take a look."

With that, I got off the bed, opened the door, and walked out.

When I arrived at Bai Hanyan's room, there was nothing out of the ordinary. I glanced at the open bathroom door, hesitated, and walked in.

The bathroom was small, with only a toilet and a sink.

I looked at the half-body mirror. Inside, I only saw my own reflection, with nothing unusual.

I tapped it with my hand, but found nothing.

I shook my head helplessly, coming to two conclusions: either Bai Hanyan was playing a prank, or she was scared alone in the room and wanted an excuse to come over to our side.

Just as I was about to leave the bathroom, a "whoosh" of flushing water came from behind me.

I froze and turned around almost immediately, only to find that the toilet had flushed itself!

This time, it scared me too!

I took a deep breath and glanced at the mirror with my peripheral vision. I saw nothing else inside but myself.

I let out a breath, feeling like I was scaring myself.

Just then, the faucet in the sink suddenly turned on by itself!

My skin crawled instantly!

Looking at the flowing stream of water, I gritted my teeth and reached out to turn it off.

"Putting on a show!"

I muttered, and as I looked up, a bloody face appeared in the mirror!

In just an instant, the bloody face was gone!

I felt my breathing and heartbeat stop for a moment!

When I came back to my senses, I practically bolted out of the room!

Standing in the hallway, my mind was in chaos, and my breathing became rapid.

This... this world really has... ghosts?

I could hardly believe this conclusion!

After standing there for two or three minutes, my heartbeat gradually calmed down.

Impossible!

I told myself, there couldn't be ghosts in this world!

It must have been a hallucination.

Thinking this, I gritted my teeth and entered the room again.

I thought, I don't care if it's a ghost or not, I'm going to get to the bottom of this today!

Entering the bathroom, I stared intently at my reflection in the mirror. Although my palms were sweating, I refused to believe in this evil!

Time ticked by, feeling infinitely long, but gradually my mindset adjusted, and I was no longer as afraid.

It was mainly because the appearance was too sudden, and I wasn't prepared.

As the saying goes, if you have a clear conscience, you don't fear ghosts knocking.

If it truly was Niu Gang's lingering spirit, I would want to have a good word with him!
