Chapter 343 Grotesque Stone Statue, Fighting the Monster

As I walked towards the light, I heightened my vigilance. When we reached the luminous object, both Fatty and I were dumbfounded.

The green light emanated from the cave ceiling. It was a peculiar type of stone, hanging from above like icicles, emitting a green glow.

"What is this? Could it be a gem?" Fatty asked.

I shook my head, "Probably not. It looks like some kind of mineral."

"Is it valuable?" Fatty inquired.

"Whether it's valuable or not, I don't know. I only know you can't reach it," I replied.

The cave was over four meters high, and without a ladder, it was impossible to bring down the green stones from the top.

Fatty, still not giving up, asked if we could smash them down.

I said, "Are you trying to die? Don't you see those green stones are pointed? If they fall, they'll pierce right through us! Stop dawdling, let's leave here."

After my warning, Fatty abandoned the idea.

We walked further inside, and the space expanded considerably. At the very back of the cave stood a stone statue, over three meters tall.

The statue was imposing and eerie, with a somber and ferocious face, as if displaying something to the outside world.

Its eyes were piercing, filled with malevolent light, its lips split open to reveal sharp fangs, and its body was burly and rough, with thick, sharp fingers.

We were stunned when we saw the statue. Fatty instinctively swallowed, "Brother Xiang, what is this thing?"

"I don't know," I replied.

It was my first time seeing such a statue, and I had no idea what it was.

Fatty pointed at the statue's abdomen, "Brother Xiang, what are those rings on its belly?"

The statue's abdomen was covered in many circles, beside which were strange symbols and writings. Unfortunately, I didn't recognize any of them.

Although I didn't recognize them, I had seen them before. They likely were Mongolian script.

Soon, I noticed that the statue's feet were bound by chains. The chains were incredibly thick, and I wondered where the other end was.

I walked over, following the chain to the back of the statue. Behind it, there was a door, and the other end of the chain was inside the door.

"Has someone opened this?" Fatty came closer and asked, "Could they be inside?"

I thought the same thing and walked to the doorway to peek inside.

As I looked inside, I felt something flying rapidly towards my face.

Almost instinctively, I dodged sharply. The object flew past me, almost brushing my body.

I rolled on the ground, pulled Fatty with me, and we ran out from behind the statue.

After we got out, we shone our flashlights and saw what the object was.

It was a creature I had never seen before, with long tentacles on its head, sharp fangs, and skin like pustules. It emitted a foul stench.

Its eyes were sinister, as if targeting prey. It carried a heavy skeleton on its back, its body contorted in an unnatural posture.

It looked terrifying and sent shivers down our spines!

"Brother Xiang, what is this?" Fatty's body trembled slightly.

I said, "Who the hell knows what this is!"

Even after encountering various strange creatures, I was still shocked by this monster.

The main reason was the massive skeleton on its back, which seemed to have grown from its body.

Seeing the monster about to charge at us, I quickly shouted, "Run!!"

Fatty and I got up almost in unison and ran outwards.

However, the monster was incredibly fast. In the blink of an eye, it was in front of us.

Just as the monster was about to bite us, the chain around its neck yanked it back forcefully.

At this moment, Fatty and I collapsed onto the ground as if exhausted, not wanting to move.

The monster was less than two meters away from us, spewing a rotten stench, with viscous liquid dripping from its fangs.

"Brother Xiang, how long has this monster not eaten? Why is it drooling so much?"

"Who the hell knows? Why don't you go ask it?"

"Forget it. It looks like it wants to eat both of us."

"Then what are you waiting for? Grab your weapon!" I said. "I don't know how old that chain is. It might break any minute."

Fatty heard me and quickly stood up, pulling a trench shovel from his backpack. I said exasperatedly, "What are you taking that out for? Do you want to go and fight it head-on?"

"Then what should I use?"

"Gasoline! Didn't I tell you to bring a bottle of gasoline when we came down? Let's give it a fiery embrace!"

Upon hearing that, Fatty grinned, "I almost forgot!"

He took out a bottle of gasoline from his backpack, opened the cap, and poured it directly onto the monster.

This act caused a great stir. The monster let out a roar and struggled fiercely, the chains clanging against each other. Even the stone statue trembled slightly.

"Quick, get the lighter!" I said.

Fatty fumbled around for a while, "Didn't you have the lighter?"

"When did I have it?"

"You forgot, you said you wanted to smoke when we came earlier, so I gave you the lighter!"

I thought carefully. It seemed there was such a thing, but I remembered giving it back to him after lighting my cigarette.

I quickly patted myself down but couldn't find the lighter, which flustered me.

"Fatty! Are you sure the lighter isn't on you?"

"Brother Xiang, at a time like this, do you think I'd joke with you?"

"But the lighter isn't on me either!"

"Huh?" Fatty was taken aback.

I quickly shone my flashlight and discovered that the lighter had fallen when I stumbled. I peered closely and saw that it was indeed a lighter.

However, the lighter's position was extremely tricky!

The lighter was next to the statue. If I tried to retrieve it, I might be caught by the monster!

"Fatty, what do you see there?" I pointed at the lighter on the ground with my flashlight.

When Fatty saw it, he said with a wry face, "Brother Xiang, why did you put the lighter there?"

"Who put it there? It fell accidentally."

"What do we do now?" Fatty asked.

I thought for a moment, "You distract the monster, and I'll go get the lighter!"

"How do I distract it?"

I glanced at the trench shovel in his hand, "Hit it on the head with the shovel, hit it a few times!"

"Huh? Will that work?"

"Stop with the nonsense! If it struggles any more, we'll both be done for today!" I said.

Fatty took a deep breath, his expression one of resignation, "Alright! Today, I'll let this guy taste the skill of Fatty!"
