Chapter 282: Chapter 153: The Jealous One (Part 3)
The baby seemed to respond to Rebecca Quentin, making cooing sounds.
Rebecca Quentin picked up the child and walked out of the apartment.
An hour later, Rebecca Quentin emerged from the baby store.
The little one found everything fascinating, his eyes darting around...
Suddenly, several flashes hit Rebecca Quentin’s face.
After being with Howard Geoffrey for so many years, Rebecca Quentin knew full well what those flashes meant. She quickly looked up, and sure enough, there were a few reporters snapping pictures of them with cameras.
Rebecca Quentin immediately shielded Andrew in her arms. Meanwhile, two bodyguards had already stepped forward to stop the reporter from a certain well-known newspaper.
A scuffle broke out between the reporter and the two bodyguards, but in the end, the bodyguards managed to confiscate the film from the reporter.
One of the bodyguards approached Rebecca Quentin with concern and said respectfully, "Miss Quentin, were you startled?"
Rebecca Quentin shook her head, "I’m fine."
The bodyguard said, "Let’s get in the car, the sky is so dark, it might rain soon."
"Okay." The bodyguard opened the car door, and Rebecca Quentin got in.
Andrew was still awake, restless in Rebecca Quentin’s arms, his curious eyes constantly wanting to look out the window.
Rebecca Quentin helplessly held Andrew and looked out the window.
The sky was very dark, and it felt like the rain would start at any moment...
"Andrew, see that building over there? Do you know what that is?" As the car passed by the Skytop Group, Rebecca Quentin pointed at the skyscraper and asked Andrew in her arms.
Andrew responded to Rebecca Quentin with baby cooing sounds...
Rebecca Quentin was about to look away from the child’s expression when suddenly, her gaze unintentionally caught a scene.
In front of the "Skytop" entrance, a slim, beautiful woman stepped out of a car. Just from her back, Rebecca already knew it was Alice Robinson getting out, and that was Howard Geoffrey’s car. Then, the handsome and upright Howard Geoffrey also got out of the car...
The scene quickly passed, and soon the sky was filled with fine rain, obscuring Rebecca Quentin’s view...
Rebecca Quentin took Andrew down, her expression unchanged, but her heart was in turmoil.
Back at the apartment, after feeding Andrew and putting him to sleep, Rebecca Quentin sat dazedly on the edge of the bed.
She thought about many issues, and finally, her mind lingered on the scene she had just witnessed of Howard Geoffrey and Alice Robinson getting out of the car together...
She admitted that pain and sadness had spread through her heart. He said he had something to do in the afternoon; she thought he was handling business as usual, not that he was actually with Alice Robinson.
It made sense; what happened that day had hurt Alice Robinson too, and he should explain it clearly to her...
She was leaving for Alton tomorrow, and whoever he was with had nothing to do with her anymore...
Thinking of this, Rebecca Quentin lay down on the bed and quietly closed her eyes.
Rebecca Quentin couldn’t fall asleep at all. She closed her eyes, opened them again, and repeated this many times until her phone on the bedside table began to ring.
Rebecca Quentin reached for her phone, and as she had anticipated, the displayed number matched what she was thinking.
After hesitating for a few seconds, Rebecca Quentin pressed the answer button.
Howard Geoffrey’s deep voice came through, "Becca."
"Hmm."
"I have something to do tonight, I can’t come back."
Suppressing a wave of discomfort, Rebecca Quentin calmly replied, "You don’t have to report to me... Is there anything else?" After all, she wasn’t anything to him.
Howard Geoffrey seemed used to the way Rebecca Quentin talked to him and responded gently, "Take care of yourself. Call me if you need anything."
Rebecca Quentin did not respond.
Howard Geoffrey then ended the call.
The line went dead with a beeping tone, and a long time passed before Rebecca Quentin put the phone down from her ear.
Suddenly, she forced a relieved smile onto her face, reminding herself that she must let it all go.
That night, Howard Geoffrey indeed did not return.
It rained all night and still hadn’t stopped...
After dawn, while Andrew was still asleep, Rebecca Quentin got up early to start packing.
After packing, she took out her phone to book a flight ticket for leaving tonight, just in time for a call to come through.
It was Christine Quinn!
Rebecca Quentin quickly pressed the answer button, "Sis..."
"Becca, are you still in New York?"
"Yes, I’m planning to book a flight tonight back to Alton."
"Looks like Andrew is back with you now."
"Hmm."
Christine Quinn sighed lightly, "Skyler Jones seems to still care about you..."
