Chapter 271: Chapter 147: Time to Part Ways with Him Forever
Rebecca Quentin followed Howard Geoffrey to the hospital, naturally being forced, because two bodyguards were almost inseparable from her.
"Miss Robinson." Rebecca Quentin nodded politely.
Howard Geoffrey glanced at Rebecca Quentin, then looked at Jason Wood, and asked, "How long has the old lady been in the ward?"
Jason Wood replied, "She’s been in there for a while, the doctor should be coming out soon."
Just then, several nurses and a doctor opened the door to the ward.
Alice Robinson hurried forward and asked, "Dr. Helian, how is Aunt?"
The doctor seemed familiar with Alice Robinson and said, "The patient is fine. The fainting was sudden, possibly related to her mood, but there’s no major issue with her health."
Alice Robinson breathed a sigh of relief and smiled, "Thank you."
The doctor then left.
Howard Geoffrey had already entered the ward.
When Howard Geoffrey went into the ward to see Mrs. Geoffrey, the hallway’s atmosphere inexplicably turned eerie.
At some point, Jason Wood had left, and it seemed that only Rebecca Quentin and Alice Robinson were left in the large hallway, both hesitating whether to talk to the other.
Finally, it was Alice Robinson who took the initiative, walking up to Rebecca Quentin to break the silence.
"Miss Quentin, I’ve actually wanted to meet you for a long time, but never had the chance."
Rebecca Quentin smiled faintly, not knowing what to say.
Alice Robinson also smiled and continued, "You and Howard Geoffrey have gotten back together, haven’t you?"
Rebecca Quentin calmly replied, "You’ve misunderstood; Howard Geoffrey and I are not what you think."
Alice Robinson lowered her eyes as if in sorrow, "To be honest, seeing you with Howard Geoffrey surprised me a bit because when I was with Howard Geoffrey, he rarely mentioned you... But matters of the heart are always complicated, just like a few months back Howard and I were together every day, and I thought I could be with him all my life..."
"Miss Robinson..."
"Am I silly?" Alice Robinson suddenly looked up with pitiful eyes, her voice hoarse, "I even came this time to have Howard talk to my daddy about the wedding, but it seems there will be no wedding between Howard and me..."
Rebecca Quentin has never been good at comforting others and didn’t know how to explain her relationship with Howard Geoffrey to Alice Robinson.
Alice Robinson suddenly gave a bitter smile, "Sorry, I was rude... it doesn’t matter even if you and Howard are back together. I’ve only known Howard for half a year, while you and Howard have known each other for six or seven years. I never really thought about marrying Howard so soon, but when I thought I was pregnant, my Aunt insisted on me and Howard getting married... In retrospect, I think love needs to be deeply talked about!"
Alice’s words were like a dagger suddenly striking Rebecca Quentin’s heart, a pain that was indescribable, yet deeply engraved in her bones.
As if not seeing the flash of sadness in Rebecca Quentin’s eyes, Alice Robinson sighed softly at last, "Even though I might not be able to be with Howard, I still hope he can be happy. Miss Quentin, make sure to seize your tomorrow with Howard Geoffrey!"
Rebecca Quentin did not explain, just gave a faint smile, but the smile was so lost and sad.
Alice Robinson then changed the subject, "Since Aunt is awake, let’s go in and see her!"
Rebecca Quentin hesitated, standing where she was. She seemed unfit to appear in Mrs. Geoffrey’s sight, although she still cared about Mrs. Geoffrey.
Alice Robinson had already pulled Rebecca Quentin’s hand, heading for the ward.
The ward was spacious, and from a distance, Rebecca Quentin saw Howard Geoffrey sitting on a chair by the bedside, holding Mrs. Geoffrey’s hand, while Mrs. Geoffrey lay in bed, looking very pale, not even looking at Howard Geoffrey, obviously angry with him.
Howard Geoffrey asked softly, "Mom, please don’t ignore me. Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?"
"You know how to care for Mom? Just go care for Rebecca Quentin. I’ve said it, I won’t allow you and Rebecca Quentin to be together. If you bring her to see me, don’t acknowledge me as your mom!!" Mrs. Geoffrey spat angrily.
Hearing Mrs. Geoffrey’s attitude, Alice Robinson and Rebecca Quentin immediately stopped, not daring to take another step closer to the bed.
"Mom, let’s not discuss Rebecca Quentin and me now. Please take care of your health, don’t get upset, okay?" Howard Geoffrey coaxed.
Mrs. Geoffrey was resolute, "If you continue to be entangled with Rebecca Quentin, your mom won’t ever be well all my life!"
Howard Geoffrey chose to "compromise" temporarily to not agitate Mrs. Geoffrey further, "Alright, alright, I promise, as long as you’re in a good mood, I’ll do whatever you want."
Mrs. Geoffrey suddenly turned her head, her eyes hopeful as she stared at Howard Geoffrey, "Will you really listen to what Mom says?"
Howard Geoffrey chuckled, "When have I ever not listened to what you said?"
Mrs. Geoffrey’s face instantly shone with a satisfied smile, "I knew it, my son wouldn’t be unfilial to me..."
"Mom, you should rest well..."
Without continuing to listen to the conversation between the Geoffrey family members, Rebecca Quentin had quietly left the ward.
Walking alone in the narrow and cramped hospital hallway, Rebecca Quentin appeared desolate and lost.
Suddenly, her shoulder was grabbed by someone, her body turned around with a strong force, "Where are you going?"
A domineering voice unique to a certain person came through.
The faint, pleasant scent of his presence filled her nostrils. Rebecca Quentin lowered her head, remaining silent.
Howard Geoffrey held Rebecca Quentin’s hand, his tone slightly urgent, "We still have unfinished business to accomplish, let’s go!"
Rebecca Quentin stood her ground, refusing to move an inch.
Faced with Rebecca Quentin’s uncooperative stance, Howard Geoffrey couldn’t help but furrow his brows and ask, "What’s wrong with you now?"
Rebecca Quentin slowly lifted her gaze, looking into Howard Geoffrey’s deep black eyes, softly stating, "I won’t go to register with you."
"You don’t have a choice." Howard Geoffrey wouldn’t allow any rejection, pulling Rebecca Quentin towards the hospital entrance just as he had come.
"Howard Geoffrey!!" Rebecca Quentin suddenly shouted loudly.
Perhaps not expecting such a temper from Rebecca Quentin, Howard Geoffrey paused, turned around, and looked at her gravely.
Rebecca Quentin took the opportunity to shake off Howard Geoffrey’s hand, looking up at Howard Geoffrey’s handsome profile, her tone lowered, "Don’t you understand that we are simply not suitable for each other?"
Howard Geoffrey bluntly stated, "There’s no such logic."
