Chapter 267: Chapter 145: Making Our Actions Legitimate! (Part 2)
Rebecca Quentin sat by the window, staring blankly at the towering buildings of Manhattan, New York, her thoughts drifting away.
The gentle ringtone of her phone suddenly interrupted Rebecca Quentin’s thoughts.
Taking out her phone, Rebecca pressed the answer button, "Hello, sis..."
"Becca, I’ve returned to Y City for a few days now, are you doing okay?" Christine Quinn’s concerned tone came through.
For some unknown reason, upon hearing Christine Quinn’s voice, a wave of bitterness immediately surged through Rebecca Quentin’s throat. It felt like she had been wronged, and suddenly encountered someone she could talk to; she felt even more aggrieved, her words stuck in her throat, unable to come out.
After waiting for a long time without Rebecca Quentin’s response, Christine Quinn couldn’t help but call out, "Becca, are you still there?"
"I’m here, sis."
"Why does your voice sound so lifeless? Becca, did something happen to you in Alton?" Christine Quinn asked sensitively.
Rebecca Quentin seemed lost, suddenly choking out, "Sis, I really miss Andrew..."
"Miss Andrew?" Christine Quinn exclaimed, "What happened? Isn’t Andrew with you?"
Rebecca swallowed the bitterness in her throat and replied, "Two days ago, Mrs. Geoffrey came to Alton and took Andrew away."
"What?" Christine Quinn shrieked, "How could she do that? Howard Geoffrey already gave you custody, the Geoffrey family has no right to take Andrew."
Rebecca immediately explained the whole story to Christine Quinn.
After listening, Christine Quinn was furious, "That old lady is too much, no, I absolutely won’t allow her to bully you like this... I’m booking a flight to New York now to find you, I will definitely help you get Andrew back from her!"
"No need, sis, Howard Geoffrey promised me he’d handle the matter."
Christine Quinn sounded displeased, "When did you contact Howard Geoffrey again?"
"I didn’t contact him, but since his mother took Andrew, I didn’t know what to do, so I had to call him."
Christine Quinn seemed slightly skeptical, asking, "He promised over the phone to return Andrew to you?"
Rebecca Quentin answered softly, "No, he promised in person."
"In person?" Christine Quinn was shocked, "After I left, did he go to Alton to find you again?"
"I came to New York to find him." Rebecca Quentin omitted many details in between to avoid making Christine worry.
"So, you’re in New York now?"
"Yes."
"Since Howard Geoffrey promised you, I think you don’t need to worry too much. After all, the Geoffrey family never intended to fight you for Andrew; perhaps Mrs. Geoffrey just wanted to see her grandson."
Rebecca Quentin tried her best to sound calm, "Maybe!" She didn’t want to reveal how serious the situation was to her sister, knowing her sister had enough worries of her own too.
Christine Quinn said, "Alright then, I’ll visit Alton when I have time to see you and Andrew. Remember to take good care of yourself."
"I will."
The call ended.
Rebecca Quentin refocused her gaze outside the window, and suddenly heard the sound of the apartment door being opened.
She looked over, unsurprised to find that the visitor was indeed Howard Geoffrey.
As soon as she saw Howard Geoffrey, Rebecca Quentin stood up and anxiously walked over to ask, "Where is Andrew?"
Howard Geoffrey set down his suit jacket and car keys, speaking softly, "I didn’t see him." He had just returned from a visit to Jones’ Mansion.
"Didn’t see him?" Rebecca Quentin’s eyes widened, her hand nervously clutching Howard’s arm, "You said you’d bring Andrew back to me..."
Howard lightly covered Rebecca Quentin’s hand, patiently coaxing, "You know how angry my mother was this morning."
Rebecca suddenly shook off Howard, speaking coldly, "She’s refusing to return Andrew to me now, isn’t she?"
"She didn’t say that, but she’s really upset, you think she’d easily comply with your wishes?"
"It’s all your fault, all your fault..." Rebecca suddenly punched Howard’s solid chest forcefully, "You made your mother misunderstand, and now I can’t see Andrew..."
Howard let Rebecca Quentin vent, and only when she was too exhausted to continue punching his chest did he hold her shoulders gently and say, "I never expected my mom to show up at that moment..."
"You didn’t expect, but if you considered my dignity and feelings, you wouldn’t have done such a perverted thing to me!!"
Facing Rebecca Quentin’s overwhelming fury, Howard responded with a smile, "How can that be considered a perverted thing? We’ve done it plenty of times before, besides, we’re bound to be together sooner or later."
