Chapter 34 Requisitioning Supplies

September 10, 341, 3:10 PM.

Tang Li leaned against the cool wall of the warehouse, idly watching the people carrying goods in and out.

The ones carrying the goods were also martial law personnel on duty.

They loaded the warehouse's contents onto small trolleys, transported them to the water's edge, and then loaded them onto assault boats for transport. They moved back and forth repeatedly.

After more than an hour of work, the warehouse's inventory was finally cleared.

As Tang Li watched everyone, someone was also watching Tang Li.

At the warehouse entrance, a middle-aged woman wearing a martial law insignia finished recording the type and quantity of the last batch of goods and closed her folder.

She glanced sideways and saw another uniformed officer staring fixedly at one spot.

This person was one of the officers who had previously visited Tang Li's home and had brought her to this place by helicopter.

The middle-aged woman followed his gaze and saw Tang Li hiding in the shade.

Today, Tang Li wore a loose white t-shirt on her upper body and a skirt on her lower half, completely concealing her muscles and exposing only a section of her fair forearm and a smooth lower leg.

Her white rain boots were splattered with mud.

Her hair was simply tied into a ponytail, appearing neat and capable, yet retaining a serene and tranquil aura.

"How is it? Is the young lady good-looking?" the middle-aged woman asked with a smile.

The officer subconsciously nodded, then snapped back to reality, noticing the teasing look in the middle-aged woman's eyes.

"Young man, if you like her, go chase her. What's the use of just looking?"

Upon hearing this, the officer quickly explained, "Director Zhao, please stop teasing me."

"I just find this young lady to be well-behaved and quiet, very cooperative with our work. When she was on the helicopter, she just looked down silently without saying a word, but when she does things, she's very capable, never hesitant, and doesn't seem as delicate as she looks... It feels a bit strange."

The middle-aged woman looked unconvinced but did not pursue the topic.

"All the supplies that need to be moved from the warehouse are done. I'll go find the young lady to distribute compensation."

The middle-aged woman patted the officer's shoulder and walked towards Tang Li.

Before she arrived, her voice preceded her.

"Little girl, do you remember me?"

Tang Li looked at the middle-aged woman with confusion, feeling a sense of familiarity but unable to recall where she had seen her before.

"It's only been a little over a month since we last met, how could you forget me?"

The middle-aged woman asked with a hearty laugh, chiding gently.

Tang Li finally remembered. This middle-aged woman was the female rescue team member who had registered her information when the rescue team first arrived on the night the catastrophe began.

Tang Li recalled that she had considered her a "good child" and had offered her extra comfort.

"Auntie, is it you? What a coincidence!"

The middle-aged woman extended her hand and said, "Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Zhao Xiaoqing, Deputy Director of the Supplies Department of the A City Martial Law Enforcement Authority."

Tang Li hadn't expected her to be the Deputy Director of A City's Supplies Department.

For a period in the future, as long as Tang Li remained in A City, she would inevitably have to deal with the Supplies Department.

Although Tang Li did not lack supplies now and would leave A City before the solar storm, she wouldn't need to exchange protective suits with them. However, building a good relationship with official personnel was always beneficial.

If nothing else, the current compensation amount was decided by them.

During the extreme cold season, she would need to use the pretext of exchanging supplies at the Supplies Department to conceal her taking goods from her spatial storage.

"Hello, Director Zhao, my name is Tang Li."

Tang Li quickly shook hands with Zhao Xiaoqing and introduced herself.

After a brief exchange of pleasantries, they got down to business.

Zhao Xiaoqing calculated the compensation and handed a list to Tang Li, saying,

"All the food, dry rations, mineral water, and medicine combined will compensate you with 18,000 material allocation coupons. How does that sound?"

Tang Li examined the list.

Since material allocation coupons were a form of currency based on grain, with one meal for an adult equaling one point, the value of grain was fixed, and the value of other items fluctuated with the value of grain.

Therefore, the compensation for food was standard.

However, perhaps because medicine was not yet in high demand, the price of medicine was not as high as Tang Li had expected. But it was evident that Zhao Xiaoqing had reported the prices on the higher side for her.

If Tang Li only ate and didn't exchange for other supplies, 18,000 points would be enough for her to eat for 16 years.

Tang Li had no objections and agreed immediately.
