Madam Qian twisted her mouth and glanced sideways at Su Xiaoqi, seeing the "infamous" slut.
Madam Qian's courage immediately bolstered. With her hands on her hips, her thick fingers poked, almost touching Su Xiaoqi's face.
"Shameless slut who doesn't keep her virtue, how dare you curse at me..."
Madam Qian unleashed a torrent of foul curses at Su Xiaoqi, her words too vulgar to bear.
Su Xiaoqi had a strong tolerance, and moreover, the matter wasn't her doing, so her conscience was clear.
Not only was she not subdued by Madam Qian's scolding, but she instead accused Madam Qian of being sharp-tongued and entirely focused on bullying her widowed sister-in-law.
And of being harsh towards her own father-in-law and mother-in-law behind their backs...
As soon as these words were spoken, Madam Qian's fur flew.
She clamored to report Su Xiaoqi to the village head, saying it was bad enough that a slut who had drowned in the river dared to show her face at home, but she even dared to curse people.
Su Xiaoqi's mind raced, and she began to expose Madam Qian's flaws.
Madam Qian had a host of bad habits.
The biggest among them was her penchant for petty theft; wherever she went, she couldn't resist pocketing something.
The day before yesterday, she stole a bunch of wild vegetables from the neighbor's house, and yesterday, she pilfered an egg from the village head's home...
"If you don't want to compensate the village head with ten chickens, you'd better scram and shut your mouth," Su Xiaoqi threatened, leaning closer.
"You, what did you say, I, I don't understand," Madam Qian retorted, her eyes blinking guiltily.
Su Xiaoqi chuckled, "You don't understand?
Didn't the village head's wife scold yesterday, saying that if she found out who stole her egg and had to return ten chickens, it wouldn't be true?"
The commotion they caused woke up Zhao Shi, who was recuperating from her injuries.
Upon learning of the matter, she struggled to get up and asked Shen Xiaomei to give Madam Qian half of the food they had at home.
"Hmph, half, how can half be enough? How many people are in your house, and how many in mine."
With Zhao Shi's backing, Madam Qian's spine stiffened.
She glared with hatred at Su Xiaoqi, who was acting like a dutiful daughter-in-law in front of Zhao Shi.
If she didn't empty their house today, her surname wouldn't be Qian.
"Hey, don't push your luck," Su Xiaoqi warned, grinding her teeth and rolling up her sleeves.
All that rice was brought by her.
"Hmph, I'm pushing my luck? I'm laying it all out today.
Either give me all your family's food, or I'll go to the village head and tell them you're not dead, and have them drown you again.
And your whole family has to get out, don't live in my house.
Let the villagers know that all of you are heartless bastards who only know how to eat alone."
Madam Qian was truly the most shameless woman.
Su Xiaoqi stepped forward to argue again.
But she was stopped by Shen Yun, who arrived upon hearing the commotion. He shook his head at her, signaling with his eyes not to provoke Madam Qian.
Su Xiaoqi was unconvinced but couldn't outdo Shen Yun, and he sent her back to the room.
When she came out again, she discovered that only half of the steamed rice and a small piece of rabbit meat remained in the house.
The rest of the rice and rabbit meat had all been snatched by the greedy Madam Qian.
Although she ate the meager portion grudgingly, Su Xiaoqi couldn't bring herself to be angry.
This was because Shen Yun and Zhao Shi had only taken a small bite, claiming they were full, and had given the rest of the food to the three of them.
"You're so capable, why are you afraid of her."
At night, when all the Shen family members were asleep, Su Xiaoqi, displeased, followed Shen Yun into Er Dan's room.
On their wedding day, the original Su Xiaoqi had kicked him out of the bridal chamber and occupied it herself.
"She is an elder," Shen Yun said calmly, showing no inclination to elaborate.
"What kind of elder is that? She's simply a bloodsucker," Su Xiaoqi huffed angrily.
She had taken all that rice.
Hmph, she had already got the better of her, but it was all thanks to this brainless accomplice. Thinking about it made her angry, so angry she couldn't sleep.
Shen Yun said leisurely, "If there's nothing else, go to sleep."
As he gently pushed her out, he heard her constantly cursing him in her mind: "Damn Shen Yun, aren't you very capable?
Aren't you all-powerful? Aren't you..."
Shen Yun released his hand from her shoulder, closed the door, and then he could no longer hear her inner thoughts.
Being as smart as he was, he had already understood what was happening.
He narrowed his eyes, wondering about the meaning of her words. She seemed to know many things they didn't.
Moreover, for some reason, he couldn't hear the inner thoughts of anyone else.
He could only hear hers, which was truly perplexing.
Su Xiaoqi looked at the closed door, still fuming.
Then, Shen Xiaomei quietly approached and whispered, "Sister-in-law, don't worry, Big Brother has already asked me to tell the village head."
Su Xiaoqi raised an eyebrow and asked what he had said.
"Big Brother asked me to tell the village head that our maternal uncle's family has rice."
Su Xiaoqi was startled. Recalling the village head's character, she smiled.
Shen Yun, oh Shen Yun, you truly know how to play dirty.
And so, early the next morning, Su Xiaoqi heard a sharp scream:
"Ah! There's no justice, the village head is robbing us blind!" followed by heart-wrenching wails.
Su Xiaoqi recognized the scream as Madam Qian's and let out a chuckle.
Then she heard Shen Xiaomei, who had returned after gathering information, tell her that the village head had gone to her maternal uncle's house early in the morning and taken half of their rice and meat.
This was a case of the wicked being dealt with by the wicked.
