Complete darkness

Chapter 199 - 198: Porphyrin

The teleportation was smooth. When Li Ang opened his eyes again, he was already back home.

"Phew, that was close," he exhaled deeply and stretched his limbs mightily.

The uncle of that Blood Clan Viscount, Klaus Zemish, had shown an eruption of strength that was absolutely terrifying. He was easily ten times more powerful than Klaus and the Blood Race Nobility guarding the Blood Race Meeting Hall.

Fighting him head-on, I don't think I'd stand a chance.

Li Ang muttered, "And I always felt that guy was holding back, hiding his true power, just watching me take out Klaus Zemish and his sister... Could it be another one of those high-society family dramas?"

Too bad he had now left the script world and couldn't play the role of a bystander, watching the Blood Clan tear each other apart.

"HMM."

Miss Chai's head emerged from Li Ang's neck.

She set the firearms she was holding gently on the ground, not bothering to help Li Ang clean up the guns and ammo, and hopped back to the bedroom.

Before leaving, she didn't forget to toss out a line, "The yin energy in the Soul Attracting Banner is running low. You better think of something. I'm off to play with my phone."

Intense activity required a substantial amount of Miss Chai's Energy, giving her a legitimate excuse to freeload and sprawl on the couch like a slacker.

She's getting lazier by the day.

Li Ang helplessly shook his head, pulled the Alchemist's Magic Box and the Pet Breeding Box out of his backpack, and put all the firearms scattered around the living room into the Breeding Box.

Then, he grabbed a bottle of ice-cold cola from the fridge, sat on the couch, and with a talent show playing on the TV for accompaniment, checked the loot from his latest mission.

[Reward Settling]

[Player Overall Performance: S+, Game Coin and Experience Point gain increased to 160%]

[Mission Reward 1: Miniature Life Potion*1]

[Mission Reward 2: Experience Point 400]

[Mission Reward 3: Game Coin 500]

The Experience Points and Game Coins from this script mission weren't much. Even after the 1.6x multiplier, it was only 640 Experience Points and 700 Game Coins. The most important reward was the bottle of Miniature Life Potion from the first mission task.

After confirming the mission rewards, Li Ang's level remained at Lv11, with an Experience Bar at 873/1100, and his Game Currency was at 4,976.

Li Ang sipped his iced cola, muttering to himself, "This mission didn't trigger any new Traits or titles. But the 'Flesh Cutter' title I currently have is quite handy, so it's okay that nothing new was triggered."

Apart from the rewards given by the System, the biggest benefit Li Ang gained from the Blood Clan world was, of course, the many firearms and ammunition he "confiscated" from a gun store in Frankfurt City.

He had cleared out an entire supermarket-style gun store. It was more than enough ammunition for several small to medium-scale street battles in Mexico.

Besides, he brought back a special product from the Blood Clan world: the Blood Clan themselves.

He stood up from the couch, first transferred all the firearms on the ground into the Automated Pet Box, then entered the Alchemy Workshop and took out a hazmat suit to put on. After preparing for isolation, he teleported himself into the Breeding Box.

Inside the box, animals such as earthworms, Planarian Worms, and Nemertean Worms, which had undergone significant modifications by the Origin of Life, had already died in small numbers for various reasons.

Issues like rejection, oversized bodies inhibiting breathing, or newly grown specialized organs that the nervous system couldn't adapt to, leading to mobility difficulties, and so on.

The good news was that the base number of these earthworms was quite large, and with the careful care of the Automated Pet Box, they weren't entirely wiped out.

As for the several boxes of Bees, their Queen Bee was still producing eggs. Of a batch of Bee eggs that Li Ang had slightly adjusted before, half had died off, while the remaining half showed signs of hatching.

In any case, as long as they survived, they had the potential to undergo further modification. Life finds a way.

Putting the matter of the bugs aside, Li Ang was mainly looking for the unfortunate member of the Blood Clan, Felix, whom he had crippled and thrown into the Automated Pet Box.

This gentleman had previously been in the sewers when Li Ang placed him into the Breeding Box. According to the box's passive Special Effect, he should have received delicate care. However, this Blood Clan member's vitality was too tenacious. Even with broken arms and legs, he could still struggle, using his mouth to bite the grass on the ground and inch forward.

He crossed a long distance, trying to escape this narrow forest, and eventually bumped into a transparent glass panel.

He was shocked and panicked to realize that this place was actually enclosed by a rectangular glass box, and that in the soil, there were Nemertean Worms even thicker than a human arm.

With a touch of dark humor, this limbless Blood Clan member, possessing no ability to resist, collided with a group of bloodsucking Nemertean Worms Li Ang had modified.

These Nemertean Worms had gigantic, ring-shaped mouths lined with sharp teeth. They sucked blood with a ferocity greater than mosquitoes or leeches, only stopping when they inflated themselves into round balls.

Felix screamed as he was surrounded by a mass of Worms. Despite his vigorous efforts to roll and struggle, he couldn't escape and was eventually sucked dry into a Blood Clan husk.

"ER..."

Li Ang looked at the Blood Clan husk by the glass wall and muttered, "Isn't the Breeding Box supposed to preferentially care for powerful creatures? Could it be that a Blood Clan member with broken limbs ranks even lower than the bloodsucking Nemertean Worms?"

Felix was dead, and Li Ang didn't bother feeling sad about it. Through his hazmat suit, he picked off the bloodsucking Nemertean Worms still on Felix's body and tossed them aside. He then wrapped the Blood Clan husk in plastic film and dragged it to the shore of the small lake inside the Breeding Box.

There, he spread out a ten-by-ten-meter plastic sheet, took out various tools, and began to dissect Felix's body.

The entire dissection process was recorded with the one-touch recording button on a Sony high-definition camera. If he submitted this video to a medical journal, he might even make the cover.

"The physiological structure of the Blood Clan in the script world is basically the same as that of Earth's humans," Li Ang explained to the camera as he dissected Felix with a Scalpel and a medical saw. "The only unique features are their four sharp canine teeth, which have blood grooves, and a small, sac-like digestive organ growing beside the stomach.

"The blood grooves in these canine teeth pump blood through the esophagus into this sac-like digestive organ. However, it's currently unknown how this organ connects to the Blood Clan's special abilities.

"Unlike what modern mysticism assumes, the Blood Clan in this script world do not suffer from congenital erythropoietic porphyria or erythropoietic protoporphyria. Though their skin is naturally pale and they crave blood, they have no blood abnormalities."

He thought for a moment, then wrapped up Felix's body and took out the four corpses of the Blood Clan guards that Miss Chai had previously stuffed into his backpack. He began the dissection again, trying to find the source of the Blood Clan's power.
