Chapter 206: James Plans

The first thing in the morning that James did, after having a good night of rest, was return to his tower.

The conversation from the day prior seemed to have been enough to keep his father off his back for now.

He tried to reveal as few details as possible, and luckily, his father had not tried to push too hard.

If he had to guess, his father was currently more preoccupied with the wizard war that Voldemort had just started by attacking Diagon Alley.

James was only sure about a few details: the identity of the Dark Lord, some of his followers, and the fact that Voldemort had resorted to Horcruxes to keep himself from dying. Everything else is up for debate.

The first attack on Diagon Alley was not supposed to occur until two years from now. Meaning that any other documented attack that he could recall was completely unreliable.

"Master, good morning." Nyxaris greeted him as soon as he entered his lab.

"Good morning, Nyx." He scanned the surroundings. "Primum?"

"Still haven't returned from his flight. Should I go retrieve it?"

"No need. Let the creature have some fun while it can." James glanced over the table. There was a large stack of freshly used parchment on it. "Have you completed your task?"

"I did, Master. I have compiled everything I have in relation to souls and their uses in magical practices," the fairy responded with pride in her voice.

"Then you can go rest," James said. Hopefully, there will be something in there that could help him solve one of the biggest issues he has right now.

"But, Master…I'm not tired." Nyxaris complained, not wanting to leave his side.

"Then go to my family library and memorize those books as well. I have already warned my parents and the house elves about your presence, but they may still be alarmed when they see you."

"The Potters' library?" Nyxaris became curious.

"Indeed. It is not as glorious as Hogwarts, but the House of Potter has been around for many generations and has accumulated a great deal of rare tomes. I'm sure you'll find something interesting in there. Just let me know."

"Yes, Master." Nyxaris said with excitement as she moved her wings to take off flying.

Once he was alone, James turned his attention to the stack of papers.

But before he started reading them, he reached into his robes and produced a metallic box from within, placing it carefully on the table and opening it up.

Inside this box was a beautiful silver diadem shaped in the form of an eagle, with a big blue stone in the middle.

The moment he took it out of the box, James could already feel the traces of dark magic emanating from the object in front of him.

"Just wait for a bit longer…I will end you soon, no matter what you do. And it will start here." James closed the box so he would no longer need to feel that magic and placed it to one side.

Then he began studying…the answer on how to find the other cursed objects could be somewhere in these papers in front of him.

"Let's see..."

Twelve hours later, James remained in front of his desk, with only one last page in front of him.

His face showed how tired he was.

"Master, look who I found." Nyxaris came flying through the window of his tower with Primum next to her.

James sighed and glanced at the little creature. "And where have you been for almost two days?"

"Kyu!" This one responded with a happy cry.

"Well, looks like you are in good spirits at least," James said.

"I found him roaming the kitchen of the manor," reported Nyxaris. "Almost gave the house elf a heart attack."

"Which one?" James asked.

"Mmm…the small one, Dipsy."

"Oh…that one is still young. Had it been Loory, he may have been successful." James glanced at Primum. "What were you even doing in the kitchen? You have no need for normal food…"

"Kyu!" Primum cried.

"So you were hungry…I see." James finally understood the reason.

Primum's body must be ready for development, and that's why it was asking for sustenance.

But he was not a normal living creature, so he could not consume meat and vegetables. He required magic in its pure crystallized form, like the ones James had been giving it, so it could unleash some of its true potential, albeit temporarily.

"Alright. Tomorrow, I'll make a trip to get you a supply of crystals." There were a few other materials that he was going to need to buy for his next experiments, so it would not be a wasted trip.

"Kyu!" Primum sounded very happy and went to fly around the lab.

"Master…has my job been useful?" Nyxaris asked.

"It has." James nodded. "I have come up with a few ideas that I wish to try."

Nyxaris was excited to hear that her work had been of use. "That's wonder—"

"Kyu!"

She turned to look at Primum. "Oh! That's right. Master, your mother had asked us to remind you. Dinner will be ready in ten minutes, and she expects you to attend at least that."

"My mother spoke with you?," His stomach made noises of complaint. "Right...I haven't eaten all day. I suppose I can stop for a bit."

Putting himself together, James flew out of the window using his magic and landed near the entrance of the manor.

The door opened as he was reaching for the pommel, and James found one of the house elves waiting for him on the other side.

"Loory, I told you that opening the door for me is unnecessary. I can do it myself," James said.

"Master James, a guest is demanding to see you," Loory said.

"A guest, at this hour?…" Now he was curious. "Who?"

"That would be Miss Bellatrix Black, your fiancée," the elf responded.
