Chapter 145 A Thoughtful Little Cotton-padded Jacket

Luo Qi, exhausted from a day of work and the early morning start, felt dazed and followed Cesi’s footsteps like a lost soul until he heard those words, which jolted him awake.

Right, he had to attend a meeting with his father today. But why did they have to wake up so early?

Cesi seemed to know what Luo Qi was thinking and said, “Do you think an insectoid council meeting is a simple matter?”

Luo Qi yawned discreetly and mumbled, “Father is so mean, he’s just teasing me on purpose.”

Cesi chuckled, “Little Luo Luo promised, you can’t go back on your word.”

Luo Qi nodded dejectedly, “Understood, Father. I will do my best to take meeting minutes.”

Cesi ruffled Luo Qi’s hair, “Taking minutes isn’t important, what’s important is thinking.”

As soon as he finished speaking, they arrived at the entrance of the royal palace hall. The tall palace doors were carved with intricate patterns of twining branches, forming the shape of a giant tree, the Mother Tree of the insectoids.

The doors slowly opened inward, and the magnificent royal hall unfolded before Luo Qi.

The four great insectoid generals stood on either side, followed by the representatives from various planets within the insectoid star domain. They were all dressed in formal attire, standing solemnly.

Cesi walked into the hall and, amidst the salutes of the insectoid generals, took his seat on the throne. Luo Qi and Ye Mu sat on small stools prepared beside him, like two little mushrooms that shouldn’t be in such a solemn occasion.

However, no one questioned this, and they all unanimously ignored the two little ones.

The two little ones, each holding a notebook that seemed a bit old-fashioned for this era, listened intently as the insectoid generals and representatives reported on the recent situations of various planets.

Governing a vast star domain encompassing countless planets was a difficult task. Within this star domain, from conflicts with border star domains to financial issues of underdeveloped planets, even after these matters were resolved, they had to be reported to the highest leader of this star domain.

This was the absolute control a leader had over everything under their command, but undoubtedly, the process was tedious and boring.

Luo Qi lasted only an hour before his little head began to nod, like a chick pecking at rice.

Ye Mu quickly jotted down the meeting’s content on his paper, while the other hand supported Luo Qi’s head, leaning it against his shoulder.

The meeting, which began at dawn, continued throughout the entire noon before gradually coming to an end. Luo Qi woke up, then felt sleepy, then woke up again, dozing off three or four times, the writing on his paper blurring into a mess.

“Alright, that’s all for today.”

The insectoid generals respectfully withdrew, leaving only Aljer and a few others in the hall.

Luo Qi’s eyes welled up with tears. He stood up, stomped his foot, and excitedly ran towards Cesi, “Father, Father! Is it time for lunch?”

Cesi poked Luo Qi’s cheek, “Why are you only thinking about eating?”

Luo Qi didn’t speak but smiled, hugging Cesi’s leg tightly. Just as Cesi was about to pick him up, he heard Aljer say, “Your Majesty, there is one more matter, regarding the new Federal Chairman.”

Cesi frowned and stopped, “Speak.”

Luo Qi looked at Aljer curiously. The new Federal Chairman, was it that strange uncle from the last birthday party? The gem he gave was still in the box in his room.

Aljer said, “That new Federal Chairman’s name is Aji. He quickly became the new chairman after the death of the previous one. Although there is no evidence that Aji was responsible, it is likely related to him.

Most importantly, he is a mixed-blood.”

Luo Qi asked, “Mixed with what blood?”

Aljer looked at Luo Qi and smiled, “He is a mixed-blood of the insectoids and humans.”

Luo Qi’s small brows furrowed. In the interstellar era, mixed-bloods were common, but this did not include the insectoids. Although the insectoids didn’t pay much attention to bloodlines, they were unwilling to intermarry with other races, to put it bluntly, they looked down on other races.

In such circumstances, Aji’s father, who was able to fall in love with another race and even have a child, seemed particularly conspicuous.

More importantly, why did this male insectoid and that human woman, despite being unwelcome, end up dying of grief on a garbage planet, when they were both capable individuals?

“Why is that?”

Aljer looked at Luo Qi and said solemnly, “While investigating this matter, I detected traces of the Mo clan. It seems the Mo clan also had a hand in this.”

Luo Qi’s eyes widened, “Is it Mo Xuan’s clan?”

Aljer nodded, “Aji’s actions left little evidence, but I have a feeling that this matter is probably the biggest reason why Aji was able to seize the position of Federal Chairman so quickly.”

Aljer looked at Cesi, “Should we continue to investigate?”

Cesi sneered, “Don’t you see? That kid did it on purpose.”

Aljer frowned, “On purpose?”

Cesi picked up Luo Qi and said casually, “No need to investigate further. Leak this information to Aji, and he will investigate it himself.”

Then, he looked at Luo Qi in his arms, “Where are the meeting minutes? Let me see them.”

Luo Qi was stunned: (๑•.•๑) He had forgotten about that.

Ye Mu, who was following behind, silently handed him a notebook, which was precisely the meeting minutes from earlier. Ye Mu knew this would happen, so he had written two copies.

Luo Qi gave Ye Mu a big thumbs-up and, puffing out his small chest, handed the notebook to Cesi.
