Chapter 211 The Fool

Ye Yun watched coldly as the crowd was easily swayed again, or perhaps these were their true thoughts. They all echoed Minister Zhao's words, with some even discussing whether they could threaten the insect race with military force.

Even more so, some who were unaware were asking if Luo Qi could be used to their advantage.

If the insect race's young highness was as important as rumored, and he was currently on Earth, then they could definitely use him to negotiate with the Insect King.

In short, today's incident was merely a fuse. The talk of Ye Yun negotiating with the Insect King was just an excuse.

If Ye Yun angered the Insect King, they would absolutely not hesitate to hand Ye Yun over, leaving him with nothing in an instant.

Some wanted to drag Ye Yun down with them, some wanted to curry favor with the insect race, and some just wanted to preserve their current power and status. A group of officials with their own agendas argued heatedly, their topics drifting further and further away.

Ye Yun had been observing coldly, not listening to a single word of their so-called "suggestions." This continued until someone suddenly spoke harshly:

"I heard that the young highness of the insect race was supposed to be hit by the mecha today. If it wasn't for Major General Ye Yun's child saving him..."

Another person chimed in, "If that young highness died accidentally, wouldn't the insect race likely perish on its own without needing to attack?"

The two exchanged smiles, and an idea slowly took shape.

Ye Yun suddenly felt a surge of anger. These empty-headed old fools, cursing and plotting against a child like this?

It was utterly preposterous!

He slammed his palm heavily onto the conference table. The conference room fell silent instantly. Ye Yun's expression was as dark as it could possibly be:

"I thought that no matter how muddled you were, you would still possess the most basic conscience. Now, it seems you are more venomous than snakes and more foolish than pigs!"

He took a deep breath, connected his terminal to the projector, and a semi-transparent light screen unfolded before everyone. On it was the surveillance footage that Cecil had sent him.

However, the footage was not of Ye Mu saving Luo Qi, but of an earlier segment.

Basic mechas were secured with cables on the training grounds, and there was a safety mechanism at the bottom controlled by a button to open and close. Furthermore, the weight of the mecha itself was already astonishing, and it would not suddenly fall under normal circumstances.

But in the footage, several children seemed curious about the controls for the fixing device and, using some method, managed to pry open the safety box where the mechanism was located, opening the mecha's restraints.

The group of children seemed to find it uninteresting and left after opening the switch. No one else approached.

Children came and went in the footage. After about five minutes, a few more children approached the mecha. As they walked past the surveillance camera, something reflected between the gaps of one child's fingers, flashing brilliantly.

Then, as people gathered around him, he seemed to be observing the mecha, but his hand was reaching behind the mecha, sliding back and forth. The surveillance angle couldn't see the back, but it could be roughly guessed that he was cutting the cables securing the mecha.

After a while, the child's actions stopped, and the group casually walked away as if nothing had happened.

A few minutes later, new children approached, circled the mecha twice, and fiddled with something behind the mecha. It was clear they were also tampering with the mecha's fixing device.

For nearly twenty minutes, several waves of children approached and made minor adjustments to the mecha. Afterward, the footage showed Luo Qi being attracted by the last group of classmates.

Ye Yun pressed the pause button, and the surveillance ended abruptly. He crossed his hands on the conference table and asked mockingly, "Do any of you have anything to say?"

Unlike the officials' righteous attitude just moments ago, they were now all as if their throats had been constricted, unable to speak.

Ye Yun scanned the room. In fact, there were a small number of genuinely diligent officials in this conference room, but they had always been targeted and ostracized, their positions even further back than Ye Yun's.

After a long silence, a middle-aged official seated behind Ye Yun tentatively spoke, "Does Major General Ye mean that this incident was not an accident?"

He was not a fool. Seeing the pale faces of those officials, as if they had swallowed flies, he knew that this matter likely had something to do with them.

He had been suppressed for too long. At this moment, even being a trailblazer to see their dismay was worth it.

As expected, after he asked this question, the officials' expressions turned even uglier. Ye Yun let out a cold laugh:

"Yes, it wasn't an accident."

His dark eyes did not let any light penetrate. He looked coldly at Minister Zhao, who had been the most vocal earlier, and slowly asked, "Minister Zhao, if I recall correctly, the first group of children who appeared, the one they were surrounding, was your nephew, wasn't it?"

Minister Zhao's face twitched, his wrinkles squeezing into a knot. "This video doesn't prove anything..."

Ye Yun snorted, "I don't know if it was an accident or a coincidence, but among these children are your nephews and nieces, and your direct blood relatives. Could it be that you taught them at home, causing them to hate the insect race's young highness so much that they would conspire to put him to death?"

The two officials who had been fabricating stories and trying to use Luo Qi moments ago turned pale. No one present was a fool. If this incident was just an accident, then Earth would not be blamed. But if their descendants had deliberately done it, then in the eyes of the insect star, it would be a direct declaration of war.

Among those children, apart from the children of the officials present, the rest, coincidentally, were all children from Earth, with no descendants of any other race. The planner of this incident seemed to be becoming clear.

Ye Yun lowered his gaze, his eyelashes obscuring the depth of his eyes. "I am also very curious why some children, who are no longer first-year freshmen, were present during the first-year freshman training? And why did they act in such a misleading way?"

Cold sweat beaded on Minister Zhao's forehead. "Major General Ye Yun, there must be some misunderstanding regarding this matter."

Ye Yun interrupted him, "Whether there is a misunderstanding or not, do you think Cecil will listen if you tell the insect race? Or do you think Earth's current military strength and defense are sufficient to deal with the current insect star?"

Minister Zhao almost slid off his chair. "This..."

Ye Yun stood up, unwilling to continue this charade with them. "The reason you can sit here and spout nonsense peacefully now, do you think it's because of your devious schemes?

Fools."
